The main motive of developing Multi-Utility Stretch Chair (MUSC) is to fulfill the aim of becoming a social engineer by designing a multi-adapting product which can be used as a wheelchair and as a stretcher .The multi-functional MUSC can be used as a wheelchair with reclining back and front rests along with other supportive aids like the trays and bags. The trays will help the patient to read, write, and have food etc. being in the wheelchair itself. The bag provided can be used to keep the urine bag (i.e. in case of a paraplegic patient) and also as a pack to keep the amenities for regular purpose. The main advantage of this Multi-Utility Stretch Chair (MUSC) as a stretcher is that the wheelchair can be converted directly to the stretcher with variable height postures and there is a detachable tray to hold the oxygen cylinder. The reclining back and front rests works on the links connected using pin joints. The entire MUSC is foldable, so the space utilization by this product is minimized. There by reducing the extra space formed by an individual wheelchair and a stretcher by acting on a single unit. The MUSC can be collapsed and folded it can be made compact for the ease of carrying, transporting. Most of the parts in the stretch chair are detachable as the demand varies with purpose of use. When MUSC is used as a wheelchair, depending on the need of the individual a detachable propelling mechanism to favor the ease of mobility can be provided. The materials used for fabricating the unit is Structural Steel which reduces the weight of the unit. The load analysis and real time load analysis was done on using ANSYS R15. The product and the results were found good. I.

Manual wheelchair propulsion in daily life is increasing day to day. So, preliminary study of human factors engineering is important in designing the wheelchair to be more ergonomics for them in doing daily activities. The main objective of this project is to improve the existing wheelchair in term of daily usage. It is focus on the use of simulation in analyzing the critical parts of the wheelchair model and evaluates it in term of daily usage. Evaluate the critical part of stress on the wheelchair which consists of seating support and wheel caster. In this steps, applying the knowledge gathered from the questionnaire is use to make a design refers to case data that suitable for the project. Several sketches were made and only three were selected based on suitability of the design. Three sketches being draw into SolidWorks software and then go through to simulation process by using FEA tools that is ALGOR software, the three designs was analyzed using constant force with three different materials. From the analysis, the Stress Von Misses was used to calculated safety factor. The result showed that, design 3 have highest value of safety factor with material E-Glass fiber which is 2.77, followed by Steel ASTM A36 is 2.44 on design 3 and 1.95 on design 2 with material E-Glass fiber. The highest number of safety factor is E-glass Fiber on design 3. So, the best selection of material is E-Glass Fiber for the Design 3.

Mobility aids are useful for patients for transportation and a replacement for walking especially in indoor and outdoor environment. Wheelchairs and stretchers are the most commonly used medical equipment for the transportation of patients. Transferring the patients from wheelchair to stretcher or to the medical bed is always an issue for the attendant or nurse. Understanding the various issues regarding the mobility equipment and introducing a better design will be an asset for the medical field and a helping hand for disabled individuals. There is a need for a wheelchair cum stretcher to facilitate the disabled patient's mobility and to provide a novel medical equipment for use in the Indian hospitals.
Now a day common scenario observed in the medical field that person suffers from many more diseases and some kind of diseases required more care like to paralyzed patients. Wheelchair is a devise that is used to improve the accessibility of mobility challenged persons. This study will illustrates the new fully comfortable design for physically handicapped person comparative to available designs in general use. The objective of this study is to design the convertible wheelchair to stretcher easily by means of design software and obtain the idea in actual practice.

Here we are developing a system which is capable of shifting various positions (Chair, Semi-Chair and Stretcher) manually. These positions can be achieved by a lead screw connected with a hinge joint. Lead Screw translates turning motion into linear motion. Also the height of the stretcher can be adjusted using a Hydraulic jack manually. It is placed horizontally which pushes against a lever which lifts the main arm. And also there is a lid on chair which can be opened to eliminate human waste. This is a cost reducing project which helps mainly paralyzed patients to do their daily things.

The number of disabled and physically weak, handicapped persons are increasing day by day. Therefore transportation medium is required for patients. Wheelchair and stretchers are commonly used in hospitals. And this medical equipment is used for transferring patients from one place to another. And during transferring patients creates problems to patients and also creates problems for attendant and nurse. Sometimes it creates problems to patient. And transferring patient from wheelchair to stretcher, stretcher to bed, and bed to wheelchair is always issue for both hospital staff and family members of patient. This system causes stress, body pain to patients and sometimes chances to sleep down the patient. Understanding the various issues regarding the mobility equipment a better design will be an asset for medical field and helpful for disabled person. This paper presents the design and fabrication of wheelchair cum stretcher. This project is specially design for patient to transfer patient from bed to wheelchair and wheelchair to stretcher. This innovation helps medical staff to transfer patient from chair to bed very easily because chair become a stretcher and it is adjustable to height of bed. Conversion of wheelchair to stretcher and vice versa is achieved by simple linkage mechanism which is manually operated easy mechanism. Also the height of stretcher can be adjusted using hydraulic jack manually. It is placed in horizontal position. These jacks push against a lever, which lifts the main lift arm. This is a cost reducing Project which helps patients to do their daily things.
Generally a person who is suffering from some kind of deceases and requires continuous monitoring by doctor and may require external aids like oxygen, blood transformation, saline etc. for cure is known as a patient. He is generally admitted in a hospital. The patient is confined to bed in hospital and is required to be moved to other places for taking X-ray or undergoing sonography or CT scan procedure. The handling of the patient is rather difficult and is required to be planned meticulously. In patient handling, a lot of problems are being faced by nursing staffs, the people who handle the patient at home, and the patient himself. These problems consist of pain to patient, in various portions of body like shoulder, back, legs, etc; while moving him from one place to another place. In the hospitals, the nursing staff is also facing some health problems like pain in their shoulders and backbone, as they have to do the work of patient handling repeatedly. The main objective of this research work is to analyze the various stresses induced in the trolley-cum-wheelchair, used for patient handling.
Nowadays, in India the number of disabled individuals is increasing every year. It seems to be very difficult to transfer the patients from one to another and it also required attendant or nurse to such works. Present wheel chair is commonly used wherever needed. After the invention of wheelchair cum stretcher is seems to be very easy to change from bed to stretcher or stretcher to bed or vice versa. By using this it is very easy to transfer the patients or disabled peoples without the need of others. It is very simple and easy and efficient way of transferring from one to another with an electrical system and automatic.

In hospitals, airports, train stations, retail centers, etc., wheelchairs and stretchers are frequently utilized. Depending on the needs, this design is a modified wheelchair stretcher. According to the needs, this device can be utilized to transform a wheelchair into a stretcher. This can be manually accessed. When the levers are pulled, the chair becomes a stretcher. According to the patient's and the doctors' convenience, the stretchers can be removed from the main frame, making it simpler to carry and access the patient. With the help of the folding mechanism, it is simpler to store several stretchers in the shape of chairs in a comparably small amount of space. Every day, there are more patients in the world. Therefore, it is dangerous for patients to be transferred from a wheelchair to a stretcher, a bed to a wheelchair, or vice versa, in hospitals. A wheelchair cum stretcher is required to improve the mobility of impaired patients and to supply cutting-edge medical technology for usage in hospitals.
