Due to the increasing progress of context-aware computing, we expose the importance of using context-aware mobile technologies to access social networks. Exploring knowledge in the social networks is a challenge caused by the exploding size of data in these networks. Thus, using ontologies better fits this challenge. We propose, in this paper, an approach to combine these technologies (context, mobile and ontology) together to have a contextualized ontology helping to assist a mobile user in his information retrieval from the social networks. We end up by giving emphasis to our future works.

The widespread use of mobile devices is leading to a next generation of applications that exploit user contextual information to provide a richer experience. One of the activities to perform during the development of these context-aware applications is to define a model to represent and manage context information. Currently, there is a lack of consensual models, and this supposes a handicap when developing these applications. This paper presents a context ontology network to model context-related knowledge that allows adapting applications based on user context. We describe the methodological process followed during the ontology development as well as the ontology network obtained from this process. Besides, we provide an example of how to extend the ontology for a particular use case in a concrete domain.

Mobile applications are expected to receive context input such as location, speech, and network from different context providers. Since context can be considered as knowledge, a formal method is needed to capture this knowledge. There is less work on ontology model that could be reused to model a new context ontology for Android mobile application. Therefore, this study proposed an ontology specifically for Android mobile application, COCCC, to formalize context knowledge present within it. METHONTOLOGY method was used to create COCCC ontology as it offers intermediate representation in the form of concepts. The concepts from the context ontology were extracted from various resources, sorted and categorized based on types and functions for standardization purposes. Survey was given to five domain experts for evaluation of COCCC ontology in terms of its usability. Data from these experts were analyzed and the results have confirmed that the proposed context ontology is usable to Android mobile application developers.

Computing has evolved in such a way that has left behind the limitation of being static and local, promoting the emergence of the new era of computing called Ubiquitous Computing. To maximize the use of this new computing platform, it is necessary to develop new and improved structures for knowledge and information representing, in order support the implementation of new intelligent searcher and recommendation systems. Thus, recommendations and search results will be fully based on contextual information and user profiles. This paper describes an architecture based on a multi-dimensional ontology model to represent mobile user contexts, Web services and application domains. A mobile application is also presented to show the benefits of this approach in a mobile computing environment. Keywords-mobile computing; ontologies; semantic Web services; context-aware systems.
The Semantic Web for Knowledge and Data Management, 2009
The world becomes ubiquitous, and mobile communication platforms become oriented towards integration with the web, getting benefits from the large amount of information available there, and creation of the new types of value-added services. Semantic and ontology technologies are seen as being able to advance the seamless integration of the mobile and the Web worlds. We provide background information on the Semantic Web field, discuss other research fields that bring semantics into play for reaching the ontology-enabled ubiquitous mobile communication vision, and exemplify the state of the art of ontology development and use in telecommunication projects.

CA-MSNs are more intelligent and user-friendly than conventional online or mobile social networks. We first classify CA-MSNs into four categories, and divide their life cycle into four phases: discovery, connection, interaction, and organization. We then introduce personal and community context, and discuss the corresponding taxonomy. Subsequently, we elaborate how such context can be leveraged to enhance each life cycle phase. We also present our practices on designing various CA-MSN applications. Finally, future research directions are identified to shed light on the next generation MSNs from the context awareness perspective.

T his paper presents the monitoring results of water quality in 10 lakes in Hanoi during the perio d from March 2014 to February 2015. Basing on the monitoring results and on the classification methods of Hakanson and Carlson, we could assess the trophic status ...

Crossings: Journal of Migration and Culture, 2010
Human mobilities, whether horizontal or vertical, internal or boundary-crossing, are infused with cultural meaning, manifested in metacultural discourses and imaginaries. While cultural elements clearly have an impact on people’s mobility, the way people move across borders also exerts strong influence on their culture and society. Studying the interaction between culturally rooted imaginaries of mobility and real physical movements, a relation coloured by global media images as well as personal accounts, helps us understand the multiple meanings behind contemporary migratory phenomena. Cultural anthropology, as a discipline situated between the social sciences and the humanities, is ideally suited to analyse critically the complex dynamics between mobile cultures and human mobility. This article, based on longterm fieldwork in Tanzania, exemplifies what an anthropological take on the interplay between culture and mobility may look like. Placed in their wider historical and socio-economic context, I discuss migratory movements and their cultural representations in Tanzania. An analysis of the ethnographic data reveals how imaginaries and social relations concerning mobility are materialized, enacted and inculcated. The particular case of the Maasai people, who are entangled in an intricate web of cultural mobilities, illustrates the complexity of the issues at stake.
