Chloriteschists have been used in Madagascar for the production of vases. The vases are cut with cisel and hammer and then the external surface is polished using a lathe. About 30 quarries are known in the Northern part of the island. This production took place during the period of contact with the indian ocean trade network and the islamic settlement on the ocast (10-15th c AD)
The catalyst for electrochemical dechlorination of hydrocarbons, such as chlorobenzenes, is a d-block transition metal supported by rice husk ash (RHA), preferably rice husk ash-supported platinum or titanium. The catalysts are prepared from rice husk ash by the sol-gel method. In order to dechlorinate chlorinated organic compounds, such as 1,4-dichlorobenzene, 1,2-dichlorobenzene, 1,3-dichlorobenzene, and 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene, a capillary microreactor is at least partially filled with the d-block transition metal supported by rice husk ash catalyst, a buffer solution having a pH preferably between 7 and 10, and the chlorinated organic compound. An electrical potential of approximately 3 kV is then applied across the capillary microreactor to initiate the dechlorination reaction.

RÉSUMÉ. La mise en place d'un procédé de traitement d'effluents aqueux basé sur le couplage ozone / charbon actif nécessite l'étude de l'interaction entre cet oxydant et ce matériau adsorbant. Un suivi de la cinétique de décomposition de l'ozone dissous en présence de charbon actif a ainsi été réalisé. Dans un premier temps, plusieurs modèles cinétiques ont été testés et le modèle du premier ordre par rapport à l'ozone a été retenu. En outre, cette étude a montré que la présence de charbon actif accélère significativement la décomposition de l'ozone, quelles que soient les valeurs de pH et de température utilisées. Dans un second temps, l'ajout d'un inhibiteur de radicaux libres, le tert-butyl alcool, a permis de mettre en évidence la contribution de mécanismes radicalaires à la décomposition de l'ozone, cette contribution augmentant avec le pH (37 % à pH 5 et 83 % à pH 9).

Since more than 20 years the hygrometry laboratory at LNE-CETIAT developed its own calibration facility in order to improve the French national reference in humidity. Facilities are mainly based on humid air generator providing, to hygrometers to be calibrated, humid gas, metrologically controlled. These calibration benches worked with air at atmospheric pressure according to a closed loop circulation. This may lead to some limitation in terms of calibration conditions such as type of gas, working pressure, pressure drop, or time duration for reaching equilibrium state prior to calibration. The LNE-CETIAT started the development of a humid air generator based on dilution principle generation. The aim is to realize a mixture of dry gas and a humid gas by controlling the flow of each type of gas. Thus the final moist air generated is function of each flow, the amount of moisture of the humid gas and the working pressure. This work present the characterization with the very first results obtained with this generator obtained in these working conditions.
