Virtualization technologies in building server IT infrastructure are used almost everywhere, to solve a variety of practical problems: from increasing the density of IT resources and services on physical hardware, to building various types of computing clouds. Choosing the right type of virtualization, as well as the specific virtualization platform, is a strategic decision for organizations. Such a choice should be made taking into account many parameters and features of the investigated technologies and virtualization platforms, a list of which is given in this article. The article contains the results of the author's analysis of statistical data on the popularity of various types of virtualization technologies of operating systems and applications used currently in the corporate environment. For the most popular types and technologies of virtualization of operating systems and applications, there were carried out a number of field experiments in order to compare their performance in three aspects: in the speed of launching a virtual environment, in the performance of working with data storage, and in the performance of working with a network. Based on the results of field experiments, the authors have refined their previously developed best possible scenarios for using each of the most popular types of virtualization of operating systems and applications. The suggested by authors best scenarios of usage of each type of virtualization are advisable to implement when choosing a technology or platform for virtualizing operating systems or applications.

Virtualization provides many benefits - greater efficiency in CPU utilization, greener IT with less power consumption, better management through central environment control, more availability, reduced project timelines by eliminating hardware procurement, improved disaster recovery capability, more central control of the desktop, and improved outsourcing services. With these benefits, it is no wondered that virtualization has had a meteoric rise to the 2008 Top 10 IT Projects! This white paper presents a brief look at virtualization, its benefits and weaknesses, and today's "best practices" regarding virtualization. I. INTRODUCTION Virtualization, in computing, is a term that refers to the various techniques, methods or approaches of creating a virtual (rather than actual) version of something, such as a virtual hardware platform, operating system (OS), storage device, or network resources. Virtualization addresses IT's most pressing challenge: the infrastructure s...
Virtualization, the technology that allows multiple guests (clients) to reside on a single host (provider) machine and share the resources of the host machine, is rapidly gaining prominence in the corporate business world of the 21st century. Virtualization is a powerful technology for increasing the efficiency of computing services. However, besides its advantages, its flexibility also raises a number of questions regarding security, especially as it forms the bedrock of the revolutionary technology of cloud computing. Research has shown that Cloud Computing directly has the potential to tremendously impact positively the profit margins of leading 21st century businesses but the lack of satisfactory answers to some of these questions, especially by cloud service providers, has greatly limited the rate of adoption of full virtualization by many governments and organizations. This paper aims to elucidate and classify the questions and threats to virtualization, and suggest possible solutions to them.

Virtualization became recently a hot topic once again, after being dormant for more than twenty years. In the meantime, it has been almost forgotten, that virtual machines are not so perfect isolating environments as it seems, when looking at the principles. These lessons were already learnt earlier when the first virtualized systems have been exposed to real life usage. Contemporary virtualization software enables instant creation and destruction of virtual machines on a host, live migration from one host to another, execution history manipulation, etc. These features are very useful in practice, but also causing headaches among security specialists, especially in current hostile network environments. In the present contribution we discuss the principles, potential benefits and risks of virtualization in a déjà vu perspective, related to previous experiences with virtualization in the mainframe era.

Virtualization technology is transforming today's IT community, offering new possibilities to improve the performance and efficiency of IT infrastructure by a dynamic mapping of the PC resources, enabling to run multiple applications and operating systems on a single physical system. Virtualization also offers high availability and error recovery solutions by encapsulating entire systems into single files that can be replicated and restored on any destination machine. This paper brings new elements related to the concept of virtualization, presenting the principles, the new architectures and the advantages of the virtualization. We make also a brief comparison between the PC's functional structure before and after the virtualization. Finally, we present licensed software to create and run multiple virtual machines on a personal computer. . What is Virtualization?
Today virtualization is not just a possibility but it is becoming mainstream in data centers across the business world. Virtualization technology is popular today for hosting Internet and cloud-based computer services. Technology is evolving at a rapid rate and virtualization is no longer just about consolidation and cost savings, It is about the agility and flexibility needed for service delivery in data centers, including production environment and the infrastructure that supports the most mission-critical applications. Virtualization is a rapidly evolving technology that provides a range of benefits to computing systems, such as improved resource utilization and management, application isolation and portability and system reliability. Among these features, live migration, resources management, IT infrastructure consolidation are core functions. Virtualization technology also enables IT personnel to respond to business needs more rapidly with lower cost and improved operational efficiencies. Virtualization technologies are changing the IT delivery model to provide on-demand self-service access to a shared pool of computing resources via broad network. The analysis of this survey will enable a better understanding of basic concept of virtualization, virtualization techniques, technologies, services and motivate especially Information Technologies (IT) staff as a detailed framework for the companies working in different industrial sectors. The evolution of datacenter transformation from traditional approach to virtualization i.e. from dedicated processing to pooled processing with strategic business values and methodologies are analyzed in details in this paper. This paper also discusses what virtualization is, how organizations can benefit from adopting virtualization into future IT plans.

This short paper discusses the possible reasons why there is still the limited use of vernacular building materials and techniques for the delivery of green buildings in Ghana. The idea behind this discussion stems from a previous study carried out by a team of researchers to examine Ghanaian built environment professionals' views on vernacular building materials and techniques for green construction in Ghana. The paper begins with a brief introduction to green construction and efforts towards its implementation in Ghana. It moves on to discuss issues relating to using vernacular building materials and techniques being a true reflection of green construction in Ghana. An important question is then posed as to why there is still the limited use of vernacular building materials and techniques in Ghana and then draws its conclusion. The paper tries to come out with possible explanations for this limited adoption based on the traditional economics viewpoint, which stipulates that knowing the importance of action and not doing it is an inefficient and irrational behaviour that needs to be checked.
