Starting from the premise that all empire building involves ideological constructs justifying the violence that accompanies such efforts, this article concentrates on elucidating the case of the Portuguese in Asia, specifically in Japan. Although well beyond the formal Portuguese thalassocracy in Asia, the Japanese islands were exposed for about a century, between 1543 and 1640, to the informal presence of Portuguese traders and missionaries. The symbiotic relationship between these two groups was based on the experience that, in Japan, the trade was difficult to conduct, for violence was always lurking beneath the surface of the trading relationship. We know of several instances when such violence actually exploded into major armed clashes, and many other times violence was narrowly averted through the mediation of the missionaries.

Trasparenza e prevenzione della corruzione nel nuovo codice dei contratti pubblici, 2024
The essays collected in this volume deal with the new Public Contracts Code (legislative decree no. 36/2023) from the perspective of transparency and anti-corruption rules. The essays reconstruct the system of principles defined by the Code and the relationships between them, they examine in particular the principle of trust and how it affects the transparency and accountability of administrations, the impact of the new Code on transparency in public contracts and its rationalisation, the evolution of the conflict of interest regulation, and the improvement of administrative efficiency and capacity as a tool to fight corruption.

Embodied cognition posits that the mind and body function as a single entity and that all aspects of the mind are shaped by the body. Embodied pedagogy, influenced by embodied cognition, realizes the role of the body and its relationship to the mind through the experiences of teaching and learning. This article explores what it means to "embody" music in pedagogical practice. What are some of the applied dimensions of embodiment? How might embodiment aid in music learning, particularly multicultural music learning? Through case studies involving South Asian music and dance, the authors demonstrate how the body and mind may be cognitively engaged in music and movement, and what is uniquely learned by using embodiment as a pedagogical tool. 1
Aspects in Mining & Mineral Science
Human activities and natural processes contribute to the emission of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, methane, and halogenated compounds. GHGs absorb infrared radiation and trap heat within the atmosphere, increasing the natural greenhouse effect known as global warming. The amount of CO 2 emissions is around 15-20% in the atmosphere and a major contributor in the greenhouse gases [1]. The CO 2 emissions from energy related sources of the United States, Japan and European Union declined significantly in 2019, compared with the previous year 2018, but emissions in the rest of the world increased by a same amount which levelling off the overall CO 2 emissions [2]. The main problem of the environment today is the maximum CO 2 emissions which induce global warming as a result. The earth's climate is differing constantly because of different factors, viz., change in the Sun's intensity, and change in the Earth's orbit, volcanic emissions, and increase in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) concentrations. The increase in the earth's temperature is due to the phenomenon where carbon dioxide (CO 2),
