Therefore, the growth series of braid monoids and Hecke algebras in Artin’s generators is presented in many scholarly published articles. The growth series of braid monoids M B 3 and M B 4 in band generators is known. In this work, we compute the complete presentation of braid monoid M B 5 in band generators by solving all the ambiguities of M B 5 . The words on the left-hand of each relation are reducible words, and the words on the right-hand side are canonical words. We partially find the growth series Q ∗ 5 of reducible words. Then, we construct a linear system for canonical words of M B 5 in band presentation and compute the corresponding growth series. We also find the growth rate of growth series of M B 5 in band generators.

The size of the identification and mapping work has therefore become difficult and requires faster and better tools. Faults, for instance, are one of the most significant features of subsurface geology interpreted from seismic data. Detailed fault interpretation is very important in reservoir characterization and modeling. The conventional manual fault picking is a time-consuming and inefficient process. It becomes more challenging and error-prone when dealing with poor quality seismic data under gas chimneys. Several seismic attributes are available for faults and discontinuity detection and are applied with varying degrees of success. We present a hybrid workflow that combines a semblance-based fault likelihood attribute with a conventional ant-tracking attribute. This innovative workflow generates optimized discontinuity volumes for fault detec...

In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm for gait recognition using spatio-temporal motion characteristics of a person. The proposed algorithm consists of four steps. First, motion features are extracted from video sequence which are used to generate a codebook in the second step. In a third step, the local descriptors are encoded using Fisher vector encoding. Finally, the encoded features are classified using linear Support Vector Machine (SVM). The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated and compared with state-of-the-art on two widely used gait databases TUM GAID and CASIA-A. The recognition results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

We developed a sodium (23Na) magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) method using an intravenously-administered paramagnetic contrast agent to measure ΔNa+memand ΔNa+end. In vitro23Na-MRSI established that the23Na signal is strongly shifted by the agent compared to biological factors. In vivo23Na-MRSI showed Na+iremained unshifted and Na+bwas more shifted than Na+e, and these together created weakened ΔNa+memand enhanced ΔNa+endin rat gliomas. Specifically, RG2 and U87 tumors maintained weakened ΔNa+mem(i.e., depolarizedVm) implying an aggressive state for proliferation, and RG2 tumors displayed elevated ΔNa+endsuggesting altered BBB integrity.23Na-MRSI will allow explorations ...

Several factors like humidity, temperature, light, and storage conditions affect the characteristic qualities of red chili, thus preservation required several measures. Instead of ensuring these measures, traders are using oil and Sudan dye in red chili to increase the value of an inferior product. Thus, this work presents the feasibility of utilizing a hyperspectral camera for the detection of oil and Sudan dye in red chili. This study describes the important wavelengths (500–700 nm) where different adulteration affects the response of the reflected spectrum. These wavelengths are then utilized for training an Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm to detect pure, oil-adulterated, and Sudan dye-adulterated red chili. The classification performance achieves 97% with the reduced dimensionality and 100% with complete validation data. The trained algorithm is further tested on separate data with different adulte...

The objective of this research is to present a low-cost 3D visual tracking system to analyze the movement of various body parts during therapeutic procedures. Specifically, a marker based motion tracking system is proposed in this paper to capture the movement information in home-based rehabilitation. Different color markers are attached to the desired joints’ locations and they are detected and tracked in the video to encode their motion information. The availability of this motion information of different body parts during the therapy can be exploited to achieve more accurate results with better clinical insight, which in turn can help improve the therapeutic decision making. The proposed framework is an automated and inexpensive motion tracking system with execution speed close to real time. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated on a d...

The aphidophagous predators, Coccinella septempunctata L. and Hippodamia variegata (G.) comprise major part of coccinellid predator species in the agroecosystem of Turkey. We investigated the IG interactions between these aphidophagous predators under laboratory conditions. Our results revealed that predation of the eggs of H. variegata by the adult male, female and 4 th instar larvae of C. septempunctata was maximum at 0 prey abundance, however, substantial number of eggs were also consumed at aphid densities of 30 and 80. Consumption of 1 st and 2 nd instar larvae was also higher in the absence of aphids, intermediate at 80 aphid density and greatly reduced or almost negligible at 350 prey abundance. The same sequence was also true for the predation of the different juvenile stages of C. septempunctata by H. variegata adult male, female and 4 th instar larvae. The adult female and 4 th instar larvae of both C. septempunctata and H. variegata proved to be more voracious towards different heterospecific juvenile stages compared to adult male. Results on the preference of C. septempunctata and H. variegata towards conspecific or heterospecific eggs revealed that both the aphidophagous coccinellids showed higher degree of preference for egg cannibalism (conspecific egg consumption) over IGP (heterospecific egg consumption).

The gait recognition algorithms proposed in literature exploit various types of information from the gait video sequence, such as, the skeletal data, human body shape, and silhouettes; and use these features to recognize the individuals. This paper presents the proposal of using a generic codebook in gait recognition. The idea is built upon a novel gait representation which exploits the spatiotemporal motion characteristics of the individual for identification. In particular, we propose to use a set of sample gait sequences to construct a generic codebook and use it to build a gait signature for person identification. To this end, we chose synthetic gait sequences of CMU MoCap gait database due to its diversity in walking styles. A set of spatiotemporal features are extracted from these sequences to build a generic codebook. The motion descriptors of real gait sequences are encoded using this generic codebook and Fisher vector encoding; the classification is performed using support vector machine. An extensive evaluation of this novel proposal is carried out using five benchmark gait databases: NLPR, CMU MoBo, TUM GAID, CASIA-B, and CASISA-C. In all experiments, the generic codebook is used in feature encoding. The performance of the proposed algorithm is also compared with the state-of-the-art gait recognition techniques and the results show that the idea of using a generic codebook in gait recognition is practical and effective.

Three different types of hosts, viz. Bactrocera zonata (Saunders), Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel) and Bactrocera cucurbitae (Coquillett) were reared on artificial larval diet and known number of pupae and larvae of each fruit fly species were offered to the respective parasitoids in glass cages in a no choice test. Results on the parasitism potential of D. giffardii towards pupae of different fruit fly species revealed that the highest per female parasitism was recorded on B. zonata (16.72 ±1.67). Adult emergence percentage of D. giffardii did not differ significantly among all the three Bactrocera spp. Sex ratio of the emerged parasitoids revealed maximum percent females (61.64 ± 2.67) from pupae of B. cucurbitae. Similarly per female parasitism by D. longicaudata was also significantly the highest on larvae of B. zonata (26.40 ± 1.79) with maximum adult emergence percentage of 93.41 ± 2.54. Sex ratio of the emerged D. longicaudata did not differ significantly. Parasitism rate of A. daci was significantly the highest on larvae of B. zonata (24.88 ± 2.01) with insignificant differences in the adult emergence percentage. Sex ratio of A. daci showed that percent females from the emerged parasitoids were the highest (54.2 ± 3.44) on B. dorsalis. Relative collective parasitism per female by all the three fruit fly parasitoids revealed that highest parasitism rate (23.7 ± 2.26) was exhibited by D. longicaudata followed by A. daci (22.72 ± 2.14). The study manifested that B. zonata could be the ideal host for laboratory rearing of these parasitoids.

Moreover, it performs well even in low-resolution which makes it ideal for use in numerous human identification applications, e.g.,visual surveillance, monitoring and access control systems. Most existing gait based human identification solutions extract human body silhouettes, contours, or shapes from the images and construct gait features. Therefore, the performance of such algorithms highly depends upon the accuracy of human body segmentation, which is still a challenging problem in literature. In this paper, we propose a new gait recognition algorithm which uses the spatial and temporal motion characteristics of human gait for individual identification without needing the silhouette extraction. The proposed algorithm extracts a set of spatiotemporal descriptors from gait videos. The extracted descriptors are encoded using the Fisher vector encoding and Gaussian mixture model based codebook. The encoded features are classified using a simple linear support vector machine to recognize the individuals. The proposed gait recognition method is evaluated on five widely used gait databases, including indoor (CMU-MoBo, CASIA-B) and outdoor (NLPR, CASIA-C, TUM GAID) gait databases. The results reveal that our method showed excellent performance on all five databases and outperformed the state-of-the-art gait recognition approaches.

The anti-signal recognition particle (anti-SRP) and the anti-3hydroxyl-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (anti-HMGCR) antibodies are the two most prevalent antibodies identified with NAM. NAM is a rare disease that typically affects middleaged Caucasian women. In this case report, we present the diagnosis of anti-SRP NAM in a middle-aged African American male. This case report displays the atypical presentation of NAM outside of the typical patient population as well as the need for additional research to determine the pathogenesis and the precise role of anti-SRP antibodies in NAM.

Cannibalism, intraspecific predation, where individuals of the same species feed upon each other, is a common phenomenon in most aphidophagous coccinellids including H. variegata. We investigated the cannibalistic behavior of various growth stages of H. variegata in the presence and absence of Acyrthosiphon pisum Harris, 1776 under laboratory conditions. The results for cannibalism of eggs and larvae by adults revealed that eggs and younger larvae were more vulnerable to cannibalism. Notably, egg cannibalism by adults was found to be higher even at high prey abundance. Whereas, larval cannibalism was found significantly lower. Cannibalism of eggs by larvae and within the larvae showed that older larvae consumed significantly higher number of eggs and younger larvae in the absence of A. pisum indicating that cannibalism was mainly influenced by scarcity of prey. However, all the larval instars, especially 4 th and 3 rd instars, also consumed a substantial number of eggs even in the presence of prey. Cannibalism within the same stage/age larvae showed a successive increase with the successive larval stage showing minimum cannibalism by 1 st instar larvae and maximum by 4 th instar larvae. The study found that scarcity of prey leads to cannibalism in H. variegata and that egg cannibalism occurs even at high prey densities.

Using reduced graphene oxide embedded with MQ silicone resin (RGO/MQ) nano-aggregates as the composite filler and silicone rubber (SR) as the matrix, a simple approach is designed to prepare RGO/MQ/SR composites. Reduced graphene oxide (RGO) was first used as a substrate for the growth of MQ silicone resin by hybridization, forming sandwich-like micro structured RGO/MQ nano-aggregates successfully. Then, RGO/MQ was integrated into α,ω-dihydroxylpolydimethylsiloxane based on the in situ solvent-free blending method, followed by condensation and vulcanization, fabricating the final RGO/MQ/SR composites. The effective strategy could enhance the adaptability between graphene and silicone matrix under external stimuli at room temperature by embedding nanoscale MQ into the interface of graphene/silicone as the buffer layer. We present a case of a 57-year-old female who was found to have myelophthisic anemia secondary to stage four lobular breast carcinoma metastasized to the bone marrow after being misdiagnosed as having thrombotic thrombocytopenia purpura. Diagnosis of myelophthisic anemia requires a thorough workup and treatment is based upon secondary management of the malignancy.
