Los procesos de oxidación avanzada (POA) han sido utilizados con éxito en la degradación de compuestos tóxicos presentes en el agua, debido a que ellos son capaces de mineralizar completamente (CO 2 y agua) la materia orgánica y tóxicos presentes . Uno de los procesos POA más utilizado es la fotocatálisis y como fotocatalizadores se han empleado óxidos semiconductores tales como: TiO 2 , ZnO, Fe 2 O 3 , ZnS y CdS , siendo el TiO 2 el más estudiado. El TiO 2 puede existir en diferentes fases cristalinas como anatasa, rutilo y brokita, siendo la primera de ellas la que ha presentado mejores cualidades en este tipo de reacción. Se ha encontrado que el comportamiento catalítico del TiO 2 , y, en general, de los óxidos semiconductores depende fuertemente de las características físico-químicas de estos sólidos; por lo tanto, cambios en la cristalinidad, superficie específica, porosidad y tamaño de partícula pueden afectar significativamente la actividad de ellos.

Various forms of religious radicalism, extreme nationalism, ethnic expulsions, and ill-conceived policies of the political and military superpowers have led to armed conflicts and large-scale destruction of tangible and intangible heritage in recent years, making its preservation a critically urgent and important issue. Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen, Myanmar, Mali, or Syria are only the most visible locations affected by destruction, calling upon us to assess tools that we need in our musicological toolbox for the preservation of the endangered music practices and monuments in peril. It is too easy for us to sit back in our wellfunded institutions where scanners are working overtime making already well-protected musical sources globally available on the internet and indifferently observe destruction in distant places that are losing their heritage. Loss of culture in any of these places makes all of us culturally and spiritually poorer. We might think that the recent destruction of Palmyra is irrelevant to music historians, but could we really be certain that another walk along the Roman forum there wouldn't give us a solution to some question that has not even been posed yet?

The mergers between AT&T and Cingular, Sprint and Nextel, and Verizon and Alltel telecommunication companies have become the most fascinating transactions in the wireless industry. This paper provides a detailed summary of the two companies in each merger as separate entities before the merger, the actions they took while completing the merger, and the new look and strategies they put into place after the merger. This paper provides a thorough view of how AT&T, Sprint Nextel, and Verizon successfully completed their merger plans and how they gained nationwide consumer satisfaction. The reader will examine the problems within the companies such as the case with the Sprint/Nextel merger. The paper briefly shows the intense competition between Verizon Wireless and Cingular/AT&T. The overall question to this thesis is: Which of these companies completed the ideal merger? The thesis analyzes the mergers in chronological order of the merger deals starting from the AT&T Inc. to Verizon Wireless.

This article aims at measuring motives toward second-hand shopping, an alternative form of buying that consumers make use of. We first define the concept of second-hand buying and describe the characteristics of the phenomenon that support a motivation-based approach. Then, we develop a measurement scale following the procedure advocated by Churchill (1979) and reexamined by Rossiter (2002). A preliminary qualitative study conducted with 15 buyers of second-hand goods and a two-stage data collection among 708 individuals provide a final, reliable and valid 7-factor scale that can be used separately or combined in two main dimensions — economic and recreational — to predict internal or external outcome variables.
