The ability of a pavement structure in carrying out its function reduces in line with the increase of traffic load, especially if there are overloaded heavy vehicle passing through the road. Most of the road pavement is designed considering the legal load limit of the vehicles. But that may not be the actual condition and most of the transport enterprenures want to minimize the transport cost making the heavy vehicles overloaded. The impact of overloaded truck traffic includes economic, social and environmental losses. In this study, the effect of overloaded vehicles on the road pavement thickness was analyzed using the AASHTO 1993. Traffic load (ESAL) and Structural Number (SN) were calculated on standard and overloading conditions. The difference due to overloading condition was also presented. Study was done taking the traffic data on NarayanghatMugling road (AH42) segment which is a link between Prithvi Highway and East-West Highway, located in Chitawan district of Narayani zone...

Separation and symbiosis between Slavs and Albanians as continuum of linguistic contact situations: New challenges for new data. In: Between Separation and Symbiosis: Southeastern European Languages and Cultures in Contact. Edited by Andrey N. Sobolev. Berlin; New York: de Gruyter. P. 27-58. , 2021
This chapter addresses issues of general relevance for the book as a whole, including linguistic interference, integration and disintegration in a continuum of linguistic contact situations from separation to symbiosis, and within polylingual and polyethnic societies. The determinant linguistic features of the Balkans are the result of structural language change induced by language contact and directed towards a Sprachbund as a particular, convergent group of languages and an interlinguistic continuum with no impermeable barriers. We need to account for and distinguish prior structural changes that have resulted from contact from those which have resulted from internal development. The chapter addresses extremely rare cases that allow the Balkan linguist to observe immediately at least a phase of the integration process at work among significantly large groups of people in zones of ongoing direct intense and intimate language contact. The paradigm of field research into non-dominant bilingualism in the Balkans is presented. This chapter is based on recent field data from areas of contact with dominant and non-dominant Albanian-Slavic bilingualism in Albania and Montenegro. The data from a Macedonian L1 Muslim community in Golloborda (Eastern Albania) with no official ethnic minority status is presented. The dialect is identified clearly as a Macedonian Debar variety. Phonetics/phonology, morphology, morphosyntax, syntax and vocabulary of the idiom reveal the whole vitality and local dominance of Slavic L1 under some influence of Albanian L2, which is otherwise dominant in the region and in the country as a whole. Texts in Macedonian L1 are published, showing absence of code switching and language hybridization. Sufficient data from the neighbouring Albanian speaking community is provided, evincing the absence of any intimate language contacts in the area which could be interpreted as ethnic and linguistic separation. No strong correlations between the qualities of bilingualism, code switching strategies, bilateral linguistic accommodation, past language change situation and social praxis can be identified.

Soon after he was consecrated bishop in 963, Æthelwold of Winchester (909–84) began to promulgate a series of new rules for worship and religious life in the monasteries of England. In one passage that is well known to theatre historians, Æthelwold insisted on the following performance of the Easter morning liturgy. While the third lesson is being read aloud, four of the brothersshould dress themselves. One of them, wearing an alb, should come in as though intent on other businessand gostealthilyto the place of the sepulchre, and therehe should sit quietly….The three remaining brothers …should make their way slowly and haltingly, coming before the place of the sepulchreas if they are seeking something. For these things are done in imitation of the angel seated on the tomb and of the women coming with perfumes to anoint the body of Jesus. When, therefore, the one sitting there sees the three drawing near, who are still wandering aboutas though seeking something, he should begin to singsw...
