HITT2* 1 Krannert Graduate School of Management, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, U.S.A. 2 Department of Management, Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, U.S.A. In the Introduction to Volume 1, Issues 1 and 2, we explained the reasons for the development of this new journal and our vision for it. In that Introduction, we described the launch conference and the process used to develop the papers published in Volume 1. In addition, we listed and explained 10 topic areas in which we expect to publish work in SEJ. Papers from the invited launch conference in four of these topic areas—Strategy versus Entrepreneurship; Risk and Uncertainty; Innovation; and Behavioral Characteristics of Entrepreneurial Activity—were published in the first double issue of Volume 1. In this second double issue of Volume 1, we publish papers from four more of those topic areas— Change; Technology; Entrepreneurial Actions, Innovation, and Appropriability; and Entrepreneurship and Economic Growth. Similar to the first double issue in this volume, we also include commentaries from the moderators and discussants in each of the sessions (by topic area) who participated in the conference. In the first issue of Volume 2, the final papers on the topics of Social Entrepreneurship and Creativity, Imagination, and Opportunities will be published. *Correspondence to: Michael A. Not only are these papers excellent pieces of work by respected scholars, they also provide guidance and serve as a catalyst for research in the field. Furthermore, they represent examples of the quality of work and topic area coverage that we expect to publish in SEJ. We are indebted to many people for their help in launching this journal. First among them are our coeditors, Jay Barney, Robert Burgelman, and Harry Sapienza, who have worked tirelessly with us to develop the conference and guide the authors to revise and shape their papers into high-quality polished manuscripts. We also owe our gratitude to Managing Editor Lois Gast, who managed the manuscript development and production processes. Mary Lou Schendel copyedited and proofed issues 1 and 2 and Lana Bandy copyedited and proofed issues 3 and 4. Your work is greatly appreciated. We want to again thank the authors, moderators, and discussants who made the conference and the resulting work published herein richer and more valuable. Lastly, we are deeply indebted to the Kauffman Foundation for its financial support that helped make the launch conference itself so productive. Thank you. We commend the papers published in this volume to you. We hope you enjoy reading them and gain value in doing so. Also, we encourage you to care- 188 D. Schendel and M. A.
