One of the crucial elements of a diaspora is to dream about a real or imaginary homeland that is central to the diasporic communities’ mind and their everyday roles as political and social subjects. To date, homeland politics in diaspora has been mainly associated with ethnic groups such as Kurds, Tamils, and Palestinians and so on while “religious diasporas” (Bruneau 1995) have not received much attention in the contemporary literature. In migration studies terms such as, “traveling cultures”, (Clifford) “travelling religion”,(Vertovec 2000) or “migrating religion” (Keles, forthc) have contributed to our understanding of the development of diasporic faith/religion through the establishment of religious based organisations, networks and spaces where faith communities re-create their religious, economic and socio-cultural places, structures and resources. This helps them to recover, revive, disseminate and maintain their faith in diaspora as well as maintain links with the homeland t...

This study offers empirical conclusions of exists of Britain’s Alevis. Also it presents to discover the motives of Alevis immigration from Turkey to the UK. Our main purpose is to discover what the situation of Alevism in the UK is exclusively multicultural policy. Traditionally Alevism is known as a mixture of Turkish culture and Islamic practice tradition which means it is a heritage of the Turkish culture and Islamic tradition. Then why do Alevis want to escape from their country and their culture to another country? We do they try to comprehend and clarify this situation within the context of multiculturalism. This research was conducted between August 2017 and August 2018 in the UK. Semi-structured technique was used in this study. The findings indicated the UK has immigrant policy by ‘multicultural sensibility’. Besides, Alevis can find their faith and cultural acceptance within a multicultural concept in the UK.
In the Balkan borderlands, a region characterized by hybridity and religious ambiguity, the Muslim allocation of an equivalent saint in the “pantheon” of Christianity was facilitated by a certain “rapprochement” between the two religions through what Mikhail Bakhtin calls an “organic” hybridization: an ongoing fusion of disparate elements into a new language which had culturally productive effects. The polymorphic figures of two “saints”, Sarı Saltuk and St. George, are emblematic of this process of cultural translation. Their joint hagiolatry is a refraction of conquest and appropriation, tempered by pilgrimage and cross-cultural accommodation. Their joint hagiolatry will be examined from the perspective of shared cultural spaces and the entanglements taking place within these spaces.

The aim of this study is to explore the formation of Alevi syncretism by examining historical facts and religious interactions. By understanding how Alevis adapted various cultural, religious and social phenomena, and how they have reflected these phenomena on their practices and social representation, almost ten-century-old heterodox Alevi syncretism’s nature will be comprehended. Since the Cem Ceremony signifies the reflection and representation of all influential features’ unification, it has a significant role in Alevi understanding. The concept of syncretism, which indicates Alevis’ opposition to the concepts like ‘true faith’ and ‘absolute Truth’ of orthodoxy, reveals itself throughout the study. Like in the notion of birlik (oneness) of God-human-universe, with its inextricable components Alevism represents the ‘unity’ of all religious and political features that contributed to its formation.
