The objective of the research is to know the perception offourth semester students of Universitas Muria Kudus on the use social media in learning English. The researcher used descriptive qualitative research and the data was collected by the used of questionnaire. The participants are 50 students of English Education Department of UniversitasMuria Kudus. The result showed social media have good perception for the fourth semester students of English Education Department of UniversitasMuria Kudus. Social media have provided rich resource to learn English. It indicats that social media has positive contribution for learning English they are listening, reading, writing and speaking skill.

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study was to explore students’ perceptions on the use of social media in learning English. The research design used in this study was qualitative research based on a case study approach, and the data were collected through interview transcripts and documents. The participants of this study were five students of the English education department of Tadulako University selected purposively. The results of descriptive analysis showed that most of the students had positive perceptions on the use of social media in learning English. Social media was believed to be helpful in improving students' English language skills. The present study was intended to explore high-school students" perception of social media use for English learning. Eighty-three students at SMA Al-Hasra in Depok, Indonesia, were involved in this study. The study employed a qualitative method with a case study design using questionnaires and semi-structured interview as data collection methods. Basic statistical analysis was used to analyze data from the questionnaire, and the data from interviews were analyzed using the flow model by Miles and Huberman. The results indicated that the students in this study use social media for learning and improving their English. They choose YouTube as the most used social media for learning English. Further, they stated that social media provides them English content sources to practice their English skills, specifically listening, enlarges their vocabulary and increases their pronunciation knowledge. Besides, as social media provides a lot of English content, students can choose English content which they like anytime and anywhere. The situation creates a stress-free language environment for students to be comfortable and motivated to learn English outside school. Students also stated their challenge in using social media for learning, such as internet connection problems, privacy, and inappropriate content. These platforms help student in better understanding of English in their secondary education. It plays a vital role as all the students doesn't have same fluency level and grip over every day English. Other than English, social media platforms also help them a lot in general learning.

Social media have changed the way people communicate and access information. Thus, the present study was conducted to explore university students' perception of social media use for English learning. The participants were 41 English-majored students at Tay Do University. The instrument was a questionnaire. The results showed that the students had positive feeling on using social media for learning English. Most of students admitted that they could improve their language skills through social media. They also stated the challenges in using social media for learning including Internet connection problems, privacy and distraction.

This study aimed to identify the role of social media in learning English as a second language among Sri Lankan English as Second Language learners. According to Sri Lankan English as Second Language curriculum, formal classroom language learning using traditional teaching methods seems to be failure. Therefore, this study investigated whether the use of social media help the learners of National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority, Kinniya and how the social media help the learners to improve their language skills, pronunciation, grammar and vocabularies. In this study, 40 students from different courses have been randomly selected. This study was a survey research, and quantitative method was used to collect data. The instrument of this study was a close-ended questionnaire, which was used to collect respondents" opinions concerning social media and their role for learning English. According to the analysis of the data, the findings show that most of the respondents like different kinds of social media, and they spend their large amount of time on social media which help them to learn English. Facebook and YouTube help the learners very much to learn grammar rule, to improve language skills, pronunciation and vocabularies and to communicate in English with multilingual people. Several useful pages on Facebook and YouTube help them to obtain new language materials. It is recommended that the English as Second Language teachers can implement online learning through using social media in the classroom, and the learners can be guided to use social media towards learning English. Moreover, the English as Second Language curriculum designers should implement online learning process through using social media in adult language classes at higher educational institutions to develop the English language proficiency in Sri Lanka.

The purpose of this research was to get the information on the frequency of using social media, identify the types of social media features, and prove the relationship between the frequency of using social media in English learning. This research used quantitative approach. Data were collected through a questionnaire distributed on a propotional random sampling that were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The respondents were 100 students, taken from several classes of regular students in Bachelor Degree in Semester VI and VIII of English program in STBA Yapari-ABA Bandung. The results show that most respondents have more than three social media accounts (71%). Youtube is the site that the most influential respondents (53%). Questa mattina i giornali hanno dato un certo risalto ai provvedimenti che il governo ha elaborato al fine di contenere i comportamenti devianti nelle scuole. Molto ci sarebbe da dire sulla qualità delle scelte e sulle loro idoneità a ripristinare nelle scuole un clima favorevole allo svolgimento del processo educativo. Non nascondo il mio scetticismo. Tuttavia, a questo intento, corrisponde un obiettivo in cui la scelta politica prevale su quella educativa. A me interessa soprattutto porre in evidenza il moto retrogrado che da un simile provvedimento è possibile (e forse anche probabile) che sia attivato.
