Depois de sete décadas de conflito e ocupação ilegal do território da Palestina por parte do Estado de Israel, no dia 7 de outubro de 2023, as milicias armadas do Hamas atacaram por terra, ar e mar o sul do território ocupado por Israel. Conseguiram atingir um quartel militar, mataram mais de 1.100 pessoas (um número indeterminado de mortes foi provocado por “fogo amigo” oriundo das Forças de “Defesa” de Israel) e fizeram 251 prisioneiros que foram levados para os túneis de Gaza. Tudo indicava que Israel tinha sido militarmente surpreendido e seu prestigioso serviço de inteligência enganado, mas pode ter outra explicação.

Every effort has been made to ensure that the Traffic Management Guidelines address the needs of the full range of project types dealt with by the Ministry throughout the province. Accordingly, a small rural project will require less effort for traffic management than will a large urban project where existing traffic volumes are high. We hope that all parties involved in traffic management for projects will find these guidelines to be helpful.

Coffee plays a key role in sustaining millions of livelihoods around the world. Understanding GHG emissions from coffee supply chains is important in evaluating options for climate change mitigation within the sector. We use data from two long-term coffee agroforestry experiments in Costa Rica and Nicaragua to calculate carbon footprints (CF) for coffee and identify emission hotspots within different management systems, levels of inputs and shade types. Management system and input level were the main cause of variation in CFs. Carbon footprints for 1 kg of fresh coffee cherries were between 0.26 and 0.67 kgCO 2 e for conventional and 0.12 and 0.52 kgCO 2 e for organic management systems. The main contributor to GHG emissions for all management systems was the inputs of organic and inorganic nitrogen. Nitrous oxide emissions from pruning inputs contributed between 7% and 42 % of CFs. Free space optical communication is an effective means of communication at high bit rates over short distances. Rapid deployment, lightweight, high security, are important features of this system. However, attenuation due to adverse weather conditions & scattering due to turbulence are to be mitigated. In this paper the performance of a short distance FSO link in the presence of atmospheric turbulence has been evaluated.
