Spare Reflections (Weekend Reflections # 80)

Ivyland, PA (Tanner Brothers Dairy Farm) It's a reflection in a spare tire cover on the back of a car. The reflection is warped but there's a dairy farm with two silos, a wooden fence, cars, the sun in a blue sky, power lines, and me and my shadow. Speaking of me, my back is finally getting better! I'm still not able to sit or stand in one place very long but I am able to walk with much less pain and my pain is less overall. :) Happy Days are almost here again! I hope all is well with all of you. I'll stop by and say hello as much as I can. Have a great weekend! If needed, please click the link in the top right corner for Weekend Reflections instructions. Silo Reflections (Weekend Reflections # 79)

Bird in Hand, Pennsylvania

I took this a couple of weeks ago on the day my back really started giving me problems.

Check out the reflection of the silo in this field. I saw the water and hoped to capture a reflection of the barn but I just managed to get the silo.

Thanks for all of the nice comments and well wishes last week! I'm still not able to sit in a chair for very long so I regret that I won't be around to comment. I thought about leaving my comments off this week, but then I remembered that sometimes I need to help with Linky problems. Let me know if you have any Linky trouble. I'll check every so often. Hopefully, I'll be taking pictures and blogging soon. I'll still post Weekend Reflections every Friday in the meantime. Have a great weekend!

Winter Snapshots

Newtown, Pennsylvania~
This barn is pretty close to my house so I decided to take a few shots through my car window on my way to the park this afternoon. Now I just have to remember to submit it to Tricia's Barn Charm meme.
I took the bottom photo on Friday. As you can see it's very similar to my Weekend Reflections photo except this one has even more snow and it was taken with my point and shoot.

Looking Back at a Barn (Weekend Reflections # 70)

Newtown, Pennsylvania~

There are lots of roads like this in Newtown, one lane for each direction and as you can see no place to park. Sometimes I have to be creative if I want to take a picture. This is the view from down the road of the barn with the blowing snow that I posted the other day.

I won't be around very much this weekend or the coming week so I wish you all a great week!

Wintery Newtown

A look at an old railroad bridge through the car's windshield.

One of the many barns along the back roads of Newtown
The barn photo was a drive by click and I took the top one from the passanger seat while Vicki was driving. :)

Old Barns and Farms

These are two different farms around Newtown. You might remember Stone Meadows Farm from a black and white photo last week. The top one will be my photo for the Old Barns meme at Bluff Area Daily.
The one thing that my last several posts have in common is that all of the photos were taken with a point and shoot camera and if I didn't remember to put it in my pocket I would have missed them. :)

Heading into Winter

This is one of the pictures that I took during a walk that Vicki and I took on Thanksgiving. We saw the snow falling and we had to go outside. This was right about when the snow turned into rain. That's Vicki walking ahead of me. I love this time of year!

This is my Old Barns post. Follow the link for more old barn photos.

A Drive By Barn Photo

I was driving around in New Jersey looking for something to take pictures of when I saw this red barn on the side of the road. I put on the brakes just long enough to stick my camera out of the car window and take a few shots before the cars behind me caught up. I took this shot the same day as the barn photos on my other blog.

Red Barn, White Snow and Blue Sky

No we didn't get hit with a freak September snow storm. lol, I took this picture last February.
When the weather cools down I like to pack up my camera and go for long drives exploring and finding interesting things to photograph. I saw this nice looking red barn sticking out like a sore thumb in a sea of white.

Where the Vultures Roam

I love this old barn and the little building next to it with the tree growing ot of it. Several vultures flew out of the barn just before I took this picture. Click here if you would like a closer look and a different angle in black and white.

It's 100 F/38 C and humid in Newtown today I hope it's cooler where you are.

Spring leaves in front of an old red barn
An old red barn behind the leaves
I drove about a mile along a creek on a dirt road and discovered this old barn that looked like it was converted for other uses. I like the green and red especially the green from the moss covered roof. I can't decide which focus I like better (on the leaves or on the barn). Solebury Township looks like an interesting place. I plan to explore it more in the future.
I'm taking a break from blogging for a few days. I plan to return Friday for Weekend Reflections or perhaps a little sooner. Have a great week everyone!

Bucks County From the Side of the Road

I took these last week on one of my scenic drives. I used to complain about all of the beautiful scenery but no place to park and take pictures. Then I realized that a lot of the time I'm the only person around so I have plenty of time to snap a few through the car window.

The Remains of a Farm in Tinicum Pennsylvania

This place reminded me of something out of an old movie

It was a real blast from the past.
Beautiful even in old age and disrepair, only the faintest hint of it's red paint remains.
I had to drive for a while on a muddy one lane dirt road then after that I turned back on to a paved country road called Gruver road. That's where I found this place. I rolled down the car window and snapped a few shots. I was very tempted to drive in and really photograph the place. I wonder how old it is?

One of Many Bucks County Farms

I was really far away from this farm but my zoom lens helped to get the shot. I'd like to take more pictures of this place in different seasons.

I'm fortunate to live in an area rich in history and beautiful scenery. There are dozens of old farms, some are still working and others are just land with wonderfully dilapidated barns, silos and assorted ruins. The problem is most of them are in places where there is no place for me to park, and there are "no trespassing" signs everywhere. I recently decided to take the bull by the horns and try my best to take pictures of the places. So that means slowing down and snapping pictures out of the car window or parking far away and walking, whatever it takes to capture these treasures.
Sunny from Barnyards and Barnacles is a big inspiration when it comes to photographing scenes like this.

The Ravages of Time

I'm sure this old barn has seen better days but I think it's beautiful in this state of disrepair.
I posted a black and white version at my Something Sighted blog.

Mixed Emotions

This is not the same farm couple as the two in the photo below

"You eat the high hay and I'll eat the low hay"......................

Bucks County style BBQ. I felt a little uncomfortable about this scene after meeting my friends in the pictures above
Although I did end up eating pork ribs for dinner that night.
