AHSC604 Thanksgiving Blessings

Happy Monday, peeps! Time for a new Atlantic Hearts sketch!  I almost went literal here and made another Christmas card, but I've been making lots of them lately, so I decided I had better bulk up on some Thanksgiving cards!  Here's the sketch:

See what I mean? It's hard to get that image out of one's head! Anyway, I knew I wanted to use these wheat sheaf dies on my card, so I cut them out of Bumblebee cardstock, then went searching in my vast stash of papers for something appropriate.  Here we go:

I pulled together papers from various manufacturers and an oldie-but-goodie sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes!

It's hard to see but there are a couple of enamel dots on the floral panel and I added some Cinnamon Cider ribbon for an embellishment.  Since I had three sheaves diecut and only used two on the front, I added the third to the inside along with a Papertrey sentiment:

This sketch is a fun one and I haven't been using Very Vanilla much this season, so it was good to get it out and play with some older goodies!  You can see all the DT's submissions on Wednesday at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog, but YOU can play along now!  Thanks for visiting!

I bought this 1000-piece puzzle at a yard sale recently:

It was a challenge, but a fun one!  And instead of having a missing piece, I had an extra piece---see it on the table over on the left?!  That was crazy!  Now I am donating it to my local library--they lend out puzzles as well as books! What a great idea!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP714 Give Thanks

Happy Sunday, everyone! Elizabeth is our Paper Players hostess this week with a timely theme challenge:

I pulled out a sweet W+9 stamp and die set that I've had for a while and here's what I came up with:

I started with a Mossy Meadow card base and some plaid paper from the Perennial Lavender suite; then I stamped and diecut my pumpkin, added the sentiment and the center heart on a diecut oval, embellished with a scallop border of Mossy Meadow:

I diecut a few fall-colored leaves and some "twigs" from the retired In the Woods, using Crumb Cake cardstock and arranged it all at the bottom with a twine bow:

On the inside, I added another sentiment from the same set, plus an extra little heart that I had stamped and cut:

I used Judy's sketch from  Freshly Made Sketches for my layout:

I love the country feel of this image and papers! I hope you'll find a reason to create a card to give thanks and you'll share it with us at the Paper Players!  Can't wait to see what you create!

Thankful Pumpkins

Happy Tuesday, peeps! I spent a wee bit of time in my craft room this morning and decided to make a fall-themed card for two challenges: As You See It has a nice sketch, and Hand-Stamped Sentiments has a lovely fall mood board:

I have been saving this pumpkin paper (well, hoarding it, really) for a long time, so I decided to finally break it out:

This is a larger card, 7.25" x 4.25", because I wanted to make sure I got all those pumpkins on it!  The papers are all from Recollections, called Thankful Heart.  I stamped the "thankful" in Mossy Meadow on some of the striped paper and matted it with a scalloped mat:

The floral image is from the same papers, diecut and matted with a Pistachio Pudding scalloped mat:

And although it's hard to see, I did add some speckled stamping around the pumpkins in Basic Beige, and added some Mossy Meadow twine and a few neutral sequins.  The inside is a sentiment from Simply Stamped, and I fussy-cut another pumpkin to add to the bottom. The vine stamp is from Close to My Heart:

I think this will make a nice Thanksgiving card!

It's Solanco Fair week, so I am off to put in a blanket that Dana crocheted as well as a small cross stitch project that I did.  I did several projects this past year....getting them framed was another story!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

PP703 CAS Challenge from Claire x Three

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Claire is our Paper Players hostess this week, and it's a Clean and Simple week! Here's her prompt:

What a fun challenge!  I confess that it took me THREE tries to get a card that I was happy with for this challenge; first, I don't really have that many fruit stamps (although when I thought harder about it, I did have a few!). Second, one of them wasn't clean-and-simple enough for me, and third, I just wasn't altogether happy with it!  But here's the one that I finally ended up with:

My fruit is a basket of grapes from an older SU set called Provencal; I heat embossed it in black ink and watercolored the image in with inks and an aquapainter.  The swirly image is from Timeless Textures and the sentiment is from Harvest Home, all of which are also retired.

I stamped another swirly image on the inside and added a stamp from Day of Thanks:

My first Thanksgiving card!

This next one was my original card, and I just didn't feel it was CAS enough. I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and the colors from Colour Inkspiration:

Same image....did some watercoloring, paper piecing (because my watercoloring bled like crazy), some embossing and some diecutting:

\

The little "celebrate" tag is from Our Daily Bread Designs.

The final one was certainly CAS enough but it just didn't have any "oomph" to me:

Basic Beige background with a wee bit of decorative diecutting and Berry Burst image and sentiment (Unity). I love this sentiment, so I am sure I'll be able to use it for something!

SO....what will you create with our fruity CAS challenge?  There are lots of gorgeous fruit-related stamps out in our stamping world, so dig yours out and share it with us at the Paper Players, where you can see all the DT's submissions as well!   We'll be celebrating Cassidy's 14th birthday today, so I'm gonna run!  Thanks for popping in today, enjoy it and be blessed!

TMS733 Give Thanks

Happy Wednesday, peeps!  I spent most of yesterday cranking out Thanksgiving cards, and the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches provided a perfect one for using up some scraps in my bin!  Here's the sketch:

I had a bunch of strips cut from All About Autumn DSP for an earlier project, so I trimmed them a bit and created this card:

I stamped the Very Vanilla panel with a tree from the retired Rooted in Nature, stamped the sentiment from Courage and Faith over top, then embossed it with the retired Subtle embossing folder.  I love the effect it creates:

A couple of diecut leaves of Crushed Curry finished it off.  The inside sentiment is from the retired Day of Thanks:

I also made this card, after searching through some retired DSPs...I have been hoarding this pattern but thought it would make a fun Thanksgiving card:

I can't remember the name of the woodland DSP but I know it was a SAB from a few years back; the bottom piece is from Sweet Symmetry.  The sentiment is from Good Greetings, and the woodcut is from Truly Grateful.  It's fun to use some of these older stamps!  The inside is also from Day of Thanks, and it all went on a Poppy Parade card base!

Wayne is a fan of ANY Philadelphia sports team....here the family is at a 76ers game!  Wayne's brother Matt is also a fan...he's next to Cassidy, actually paying attention, LOL!

Thanks for visiting today--enjoy it and be blessed!

PP665 Give Thanks

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Anne Marie is our Paper Players hostess today with the timely theme of "Give Thanks":

Even if you don't celebrate Thanksgiving, or send out Thanksgiving Day cards, a thank you card is always appropriate!  But I do have some cute Thanksgiving stamps, so that's what I went with!  I also used the sketch and colors from CAS Colours & Sketches:

So here we go:

I stamped the mice in Versafine Black and watercolored them with Gray Granite and Basic Black inks, then stamped and fussy-cut the cheese, coloring it with Hello Honey.  The panels are some green scrapbook paper from my stash and some Cajun Craze plaid from a couple of years ago!  They were diecut with the Stitched Triangle dies, then layered on a Very Vanilla card.

I may go back and give these little mice a little blush on their cheeks, LOL!  I also managed to track down my retired Really Rust ink pad for the sentiment inside!

We all have something for which to be thankful! I hope you'll translate that into a card and share it with us at the Paper Players!  Be sure to check out what the design team created as well!

Paper Players 664 Corny Thanks

Hello, and happy Sunday, everyone!  Claire is our amazing hostess this week at the Players, and she has an equally-amazing Tic-Tac-Toe challenge for us:

I chose the bottom row across of embossing, twine and a fall item, although that was not my first choice---I'll share that card later, LOL!  I did a second card, and that's what I am sharing today:

The FarmQuest Challenge blog is asking for CORN for their challenge this week, so I thought it would fun to use the corn dies from Fruitful Blessings as the fall item for my card today!  I cut both diecuts using Crushed Curry, but I sponged on some Cajun Craze ink on the bottom diecut to give it some depth.  A Naturals White husk and some Old Olive greenery

I added a twine bow, an embossed background featuring fall words, and I cut out a sentiment, also from Fruitful Blessings.  The inside uses some Fruitful Blessings images and a Thanksgiving sentiment from the retired Day of Thanks:

Claire's grid gives you lots of possibilities for some fall/thankful/Thanksgiving cards!  I hope you'll find some inspiration and play along with us!  Be sure to check out what the other designers created as well..you'll find they're not ALL fall-related!!!  Check them out at the Paper Players blog!

The kids had a busy weekend...they went to a concert on Friday night:

I love the intent look on Wayne's and Cassidy's faces:

Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!

Gratitude Changes Everything

Happy Friday, peeps! Yay, the weekend is here!  My card today is for the Shopping Our Stash challenge,  which features some gorgeous regal shades, and I used the sketch from Inspired By; the theme was adorable but I had been thinking about these images for a couple of days and the sketch fit, so I went with it!  Here are the prompts:

So my images aren't quite to scale like the sketch, but hopefully it will be okay! Here we go:

I stamped these Fall: Take Three Papertrey images in Old Olive, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie, then used a W+9 die to cut them out.  The sentiment is from a Right at Home set called Grateful Heart:

To give some interest to the Pretty Peacock background, I first stamped it with the retired Linen background stamp, then embosssed it with the Cane Weave embossing folder.  If you look closely, you can see the "weave".  I added a little Linen braid trim because in the photo, the rug and lamp are natural colored and I liked the contrast.  On the inside, a sentiment from the PTI set:

I think these rich jewel tones are just beautiful!  And I am going to pop this in over at the Time Out challenge  as well, as their theme is gratitude:

Thanks for visiting today!

A few more pictures from Longwood:

These are certainly jewel-toned as well!  Nature is beautiful!  Enjoy your day and be blessed!
