The aches, pains, and joys of moving
I am SUPER excited to be moving to this new apartment. The new landlady gave me keys last Sunday, and I've been slowly taking bits and pieces of my life to the new apartment over the last week... One carload before school (er, work), one load after. Maybe. First to go were my collections. Yarn. Shoes. Bags. Books (subsets: school, pleasure, knitting). Folks, I have a lot of stuff. Moving almost makes me think I might have TOO much. (nah!!!)
The new place is much nicer, cleaner, quieter, and cheaper. My rent is almost $300 cheaper, and I don't have to pay for any of my utilities (electricity, cable, internet). YAY. I'm shopping around for a private gym membership now (b/c I've gained the 1st year doctoral program version of the freshman 15, which feels like first year fat fat fat). Anyone in the greater Boston area have suggestions? I've looked online at Healthworks and BSC. I love the idea of all women (but, I might miss the inspirational effects of watching men doing their tricep dips and pull ups), it's got a salon attached to the gym, and the locker room sounds more like a spa than a typical gym. HOWEVER, you have to pay extra to take the group classes? eh.
I digress. The new place also feels bigger. I have closets GALORE. I have a yarn closet (where I'll store needles, my baby/acrylic/felting yarn, ball winder and swift. I have another closet just for my shoe and pocketbook collection. I have a HUGE clothes closet, and a linen closet. Is a perfect fit for moi, non? I also love how I have my yarntainer next to my collection of knitting books (on a built in shelf) and a nice comfy chair between the two. I'll have pictures soon. I started inventorying my yarn while I was packing, but I decided it was going to be a wasted effort (if and when I get invited to Ravelry).
while i'm glad to have moved from my old crappy apt, I hate moving... I'm crabby and bitchy, I feel dirty all the time, and my furbabies are disoriented (Danger keeps meowing for me at the door. DUDE. My ass is on the couch where it always is!).
Just a quick hello and entry to remind myself where I was in my life at this point. It was Stacey's birthday yesterday, and the Estes Wool Festival is happening this weekend. I'm sad to be missing it, but I really shouldn't complain.
Hope you are all doing well. I promise to start back to commenting on blogs soon (instead of drive by reading).
