The Trashmen – Bird Call! The Twin City Stomp Of The Trashmen (4CD Box) 1998

The Trashmen were an American rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, in 1962.

The original line-up of the group featured guitarists Tony Andreason and Dal Winslow, bassist Bob Reed, and drummer Steve Wahrer.

Along with Colorado-based contemporaries the Astronauts, The Trashmen have been described as "the

premier landlocked Midwestern surf group of the '60s." The band took their name from "Trashman's Blues", a song written and recorded in 1961 by Minneapolis musician Kai Ray (Richard Caire, 1935–2017), who later wrote songs for the band.

Don Woody joined the group on bass. After Don's friend showed the group a record called "The Trashmen’s Blues" by guitarist Tony Caire aka Kai Ray, Steve decided to call the band "The

Trashmen". The group was primarily an instrumental group, with occasional lead vocals by Steve. Steve began to sing more and more. Tony has occasionally sung lead. Don left the band and was replaced by Bob Reed, picked from an audition. The group gained an interest in surf rock after listening to Dick Dale. A song called "Surfin' Bird" was conceptualized by Steve and was instantly liked by their audience at shows.

The Trashmen's biggest hit was 1963's "Surfin' Bird", which reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in

the latter part of that year. The song was a combination of two R&B hits by The Rivingtons, "The Bird's the Word" and "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow". Early pressings of the single credit the Trashmen's drummer and vocalist Steve Wahrer as the composer, but following a threat from The Rivingtons' legal counsel, the writing credit was removed from Wahrer and transferred to the members of The Rivingtons.

The song was later covered by The Ramones, The Cramps, Silverchair, The Psychotic Petunias, Pee-

Wee Herman, Equipe 84, and the thrash metal band Sodom. It has also been featured in several films, including Full Metal Jacket, Fred Claus, Pink Flamingos, Back to the Beach, and The Big Year.

"Surfin' Bird" was the subject of the episode "I Dream of Jesus" of the television series Family Guy,

sending the song to No. 8 on the iTunes Top 10 Rock songs chart and No. 50 on the UK Singles Chart in 2009. The episode "Rich Old Stewie" included the song played in slow motion.

Though the group continued to release great follow-up singles and an excellent album, their moment in

the sun had come and gone; they disbanded by late 1967/early 1968. They re-formed in the mid-'80s and continued to play locally until Wahrer's death in 1989. The Trashmen are revered by '60s collectors as one of the great American teen band combos of all time, their lone hit exemplifying wild, unabashed rock & roll at its most demented, bare-bones-basic, lone-E-chord finest.

Beyond "Surfin' Bird", The Trashmen experienced limited success. In 1964, "Bird Dance Beat" reached No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and was a top 10 hit in Canada. The group disbanded in 1967. A four-CD box set of their work was released by Sundazed Records.

Dirty Fuse: Dirty Fuse 2012

Dirty Fuse were formed in 2008 in Athens, by guitarist Duda Victor and drummer Chris Kogios in

order to explore the frenzied world of surf rock. Mainly influenced by Dick Dale, Ventures, Atlantics, Ramones and Television, their music is based on old school '60s surf music, channeled through the energy of garage and punk rock. Their music is based on the old school surf music of the 60's, imbued with the energy of garage and punk rock. Dirty Fuse evolve these sounds in their own unique way, bringing instrumental surf rock to the music scene of today.

As a trio (Guitar-bass-drums) begin wandering the live bars and venues of Athens playing mostly their own music. After a few lineup changes in mid 2009 they recorded their first songs which will be released a year later on 7" vinyl "Lost Riders". During 2010, Manos Kisamitakis (saxophone) John

Drake (bass) and Kostas Bakoulas (guitar) added to the band, along with Duda Victor and Chris Kogios. In 2012 Dirty Fuse released a self-titled, full-length CD including the track "Sunset Beach" (a surf cover of V. Tsistanis' "Akroyalies Dilina") which meets great acceptance by DJs and radio producers (voted #47 of the 101 best surf tracks worldwide since the '70s by the listeners of North Sea Surf Radio and the members of the SurfGuitar101.com forum).

In 2013 the band released a 10" vinyl titled "Surfbetika!" with 7 rebetika songs surfed up! (voted #60 of the 101 best surf albums worldwide since the '70s by the listeners of North Sea Surf Radio and the members of theSurfGuitar101.com forum). Dirty Fuse leave sunsets and beaches and venture on a journey through time with seven rebetika songs. They re-visit an age of hashish dens and taverns, and find themselves stranded in the joints where Misirlou was first heard, the song with the seductive oriental vibes that influenced California`s surf music of the sixties.

In October 2014 "last wave" released by Deep Eddy Records(USA).The bands brand new album

includes two previously unreleased tracks by Jim Skiathitis (The Atlantics). On March 2015 Duda Victor returns to Brazil and guitarist Eri Kapetanaki joins the band. On August 2015 following a succesfull tour in Crete, guitarist Kostas Bakoulas departs. The band plays on with Chris Kogios(drums), Manos Kisamitakis(Saxophone), John Drake(bass) and Eri Kapetanaki(guitar). Continuous shows and dynamic live presence became Dirty Fuse's trademark throughout the years.

Dirty Fuse's significant timeline marks are their appearance with The Atlantics in Greece for two shows on July 2013, North Sea Surf Festival in Amsterdam on September 2014, Surfer Joe Summer Festival in Italy [2012], their appearance with The Fleshtones in Athens on July 2014, the arranging of Surf

Rock Mayhem (the first all-surf-music live event at Bios) [2013], following a series of successful events, the July 2015 fest is headlined by Daikaiju, the first ever american surf instro band to play Greece.
Dirty Fuse also appear on several various artist releases, Continental Magazine [USA, 2012], the OST listing of «Welcome to the show (The musical heritage of Pavlos Sidiropoulos)» [2013],the OST listing of «Yusef's Song» [2014], Unsigned United [2009] and the first all Greek bands compilation «Search For Atlantis»[2014].

“Calling of the deep” is the 6th release of Dirty Fuse and the first one as a 4-member band. It consists of 12 new recordings, all written by Dirty Fuse, except “Deixe a terra em paz”, originally by the brazilian punk band Cόlera, and “Surfaway”, written by Duda Victor and Eri Kapetanaki. Enjoy the ride from deep space to the deep sea through the deep reverb sounds. You cannot say that modern surf music

is as easy in the ears of uninitiated as other more popular currents. Dick Dale’s second “bang” of “Misirlou” who was inside Pulp Fiction’s soundtrack gave the wave a new tidal boost. Greece is one of the countries that make good surf music with several bands like Dirty Fuse, which with their new album called “Calling Of The Deep” call us to put our music board on the waves of acoustic pleasure. The album would be called easy listening, with rich melodic lines that take you to a sunny beach where you gaze at the wave enjoying your Mojito. The two lead instruments, guitar, and saxophone are embraced, split and re-embraced, swirled into a finesse dance, masterly novice while the stiff rhythm section pavers the impeccable sound carpet to make the dance of the musical couple as they should. If you want to experience this delightful sunset just take the disc now!

μυθικούς The Invisible Surfers στο Αν στις 13 Ιανουαρίου και η συμμετοχή τους στο Surfer Joe Summer Festival στις 23 Ιουνίου στο Livorno (Italy). Το 2013 η μπάντα έχει σαν προτεραιότητα την κυκλοφορία του 3ου της άλμπουμ "Surfbetika" (ένα 10`` βινύλιο με 7 ρεμπέτικα κομμάτια σε instro-surf απόδοση) ,συμμετέχει με το κομμάτι Surf Lady στο soundtrack του ντοκυμαντέρ «Welcome to the show (Η μουσική κληρονομιά του Παύλου Σιδηρόπουλου)» ενώ συνεχίζει τις Live εμφανίσεις της με πιο σημαντική το πρώτο Surf Rock Mayhem (All Surf festival) στο BIOS την 1η Μαρτίου μαζί με τους The Titanics, The Bali `Haians και Fountoukia.

δίσκο με τίτλο Last Wave, ο οποίος κυκλοφορεί σε cd και ψηφιακή μορφή από την Deep Eddy Records (USA) και σε βινύλιο,σε μόλις 300 αντίτυπα, σε συμπαραγωγή από τις Ikaros Records(GR) και B-Otherside Records(GR).

Δύο τραγούδια γράφτηκαν από τον surf βετεράνο Jim Skiathitis των The Atlantics που τα παραχώρησε στη μπάντα αντί να τα ηχογραφήσει ο ίδιος ("Islands In The Surf" και "Stranger In Mykonos"). Επίσης υπάρχει μόνο μία  αλλά καυτή διασκευή στο "The New Victor" του Dick Dale.

Τον Νοέμβριο του 2015 κυκλοφόρησε ένα ep με τίτλο "Back to Brazil".

The Barracudas: Drop Out With The Barracudas 1981 (2005 Reissue, Remastered)

The Barracudas are an English surf rock band formed in late 1978. The band's original line-up consisted of Jeremy Gluck (vocals), Robin Wills (guitar and vocals), Starkie Phillips (bass and vocals) and Adam Phillips (drums). Before the band recorded its first single, Starkie and Adam Phillips left the band.

The band is notable for their 1980 hit single "Summer Fun", which started with an excerpt from a 1960s spoof advertisement for the Plymouth Barracuda campaign. The song included dialogue where announcers had difficulty pronouncing the word barracuda. The single reached number 37 on the UK Singles Chart.
The band officially lasted until 1981 with a final performance in Madrid. There have been few occasional performances since.

The beginnings of the band can be traced back to the year of 1978 when Canadian-born Gluck met Wills at a Dead Fingers Talk concert. Here the pair bonded over a shared passion for "60's garage and psychedelic music ". They started off calling themselves the "R.A.F.", but eventually settled on the name of The Barracudas. The name was inspired by a song they both liked by The Standells.

Initially perceived as a novelty surf act due to their first album, subsequent recordings showed them to be a fierce garage rock and roll band in the mould of the 13th Floor Elevators and The Seeds. The band split in 1984, but reformed in 1989 to record "Wait For Everything," and then again in 2003. In 2005 they recorded the self-titled album on NDN. Throughout their career, their live performances have been energetic and frenetic.

Drop Out with The Barracudas is the debut studio album by English rock band The Barracudas, released in 1981 by record label Zonophone. The US version released on Voxx Records with an alternative cover features a revised track listing, replacing Campus Tramp with Surfers Are Back.
Everything is original on Drop Out, though sources of inspiration aren't far off at any turn, however reused and remade. "Codeine" has a more epic swoop and cautionary feel than the Sonics gave to "Strychnine," and "I Saw My Death in a Dream Last Night" isn't quite the Electric Prunes, but the same sort of not-quite-borrowing crops up song for song, and not too badly at that. Some songs, such as "I Can't Pretend" and "This Ain't My Time," have just enough of a crisp kick to remind you that they were recorded in 1980 rather than 15 years earlier.

Generally speaking, though, one song title sums up the entire fun spirit of Drop Out: "I Wish It Could Be 1965 Again." [EMI's 2005 reissue of the album adds five B-sides (including one of the band's signature songs "Surfers Are Back!") and seven songs recorded in 1981 but never released.]

After the first attempt at their second album, the group lost drummer Nick Turner to the group Lords of the New Church. Afterwards, Jeremy Gluck and guitarist Robin Wills assembled a new The Barracudas group, that went on to record their second album Mean Time.

The Barracudas disbanded in 1984, after making their third and final album Endeavour to Persevere. However, in 2005, there became a growing interest regarding the reissue of their back catalogue. This resulted in Gluck and Wills reconnecting, and the two of them began composing again.
In 2014, the band reissued their Meantime album as a limited edition picture disc, under the reborn "Closer French" label.
