The Electrochemistry topic is found to be difficult to learn due to its abstract concepts involving macroscopic, microscopic, and symbolic representation levels. Studies have shown that animation and simulation using information and communication technology (ICT) can help students to visualize and hence enhance their understanding in learning abstract chemistry topics. As a result, an interactive multimedia module with the pedagogical agent (IMMPA) named the EC Lab (Electrochemistry Lab) was developed in order to assist students in the learning of Electrochemistry topics. A nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design investigation was carried out in order to gauge the effect of the IMMPA EC Lab on students' understanding and motivation in the learning of Electrochemistry. Some 127 Form Four students from two secondary schools in one of the districts in Malaysia were involved in the study. Each school had one treatment group and one control group taught by the same Chemistry teacher. Instruments involved were a pre-and posttest, a pre-and post-motivation questionnaire, and the IMMPA EC Lab. Results showed a significant difference between the control groups and treatment groups in the understanding of concepts in the learning of Electrochemistry.

ABSTRAK Tajuk Elektrokimia didapati sukar dipelajari kerana konsep abstrak yang melibatkan tahap perwakilan makroskopik, mikroskopik dan simbolik. Kajian lepas menunjukkan bahawa animasi dan simulasi menggunakan teknologi maklumat dan komunikasi (TMK) boleh membantu pelajar membayangkan dan seterusnya memperkuatkan pemahaman mereka dalam mempelajari tajuk kimia yang abstrak. Abstrak: Pendidikan Sains secara Islamik merupakan satu inovasi dalam landskap pendidikan kebangsaan oleh pemikir dan cendekiawan Muslim. Berpaksikan konsep Pendidikan Bersepadu yang menunjangi falsafah pendidikan negara, asas akidah tauhid menjadi intipati amalan pendidikan sejak tahun 1980 an lagi merentasi mata pelajaran. Terkini, pendidikan matapelajaran sains diajar melalui Model Ulul Albab dan konsep Pendidikan Sains Tauhidik yang merupakan terjemahan pendidikan secara Islamik khususnya bagi Muslim di Malaysia dengan menggunakan perinsip yang tersendiri. Namun demikian, kedua-duanya membawa matlamat untuk menyepadukan ilmu akal dengan ilmu wahyu secara holistik, berkesan dan lebih spesifik kepada pembinaan jatidiri dan akidah saintis Muslim.

ABSTRAK ATSS Dilema-Nutrisi merupakan instrumen yang dibina bagi mengukur pemikiran berorientasikan matlamat berpandukan tatacara Articulated Thought in Simulated Situation (ATSS). Instrumen ini adalah dalam Bahasa Melayu dan direka khusus bagi belia Muslim di Malaysia untuk memahami pola perilaku kognitif pelajar tingkatan empat aliran sains tulen apabila dirangsang untuk berfikir dalam pelbagai situasi berkaitan dengan makanan dan amalan pemakanan di luar konteks peperiksaan. Sebelum digunakan, kesahan dan kebolehpercayaan instrumen dibincangkan dan dinilai melalui kajian rintis. Dalam makalah ini, beberapa pendekatan bagi meningkatkan kesahan instrumen telah dibincangkan. Seterusnya, berdasarkan maklum balas daripada kajian rintis, penilaian terperinci terhadap kesahan dan kebolehpercayaan telah dilakukan. Penilaian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan pengiraan berdasarkan statistik perihalan dan perisian SPSS 23. Hasil penelitian kesahan bagi ATSS Dilema-Nutrisi mendapati Purata Peratus Kekongruenan (ACP) ialah 90.9%, Kesahan Kandungan untuk Setiap Item (I-CVI) dan Kesahan Kandungan untuk Skala Keseluruhan (S-CVI) ialah 1.0. Manakala, Persetujuan antara Penilai (IRA) ialah 0.916, Kebolehpercayaan antara Penilai (IRR) ialah 0.763, nilai Pekali antara Kelas (ICC) 0.969, Pekali Intrakelas 0.978 dan Pekali Konkordans Kendall bagi keharmonian respons (W) ialah 0.056. Berdasarkan dapatan nilai kesahan dan kebolehpercayaan instrumen yang dinyatakan, instrumen mempunyai tahap kesahan dan kebolehpercayaan yang baik. Setelah instrumen ditambah baik berdasarkan komen-komen pakar, instrumen ini telah digunakan dalam kutipan data. The instrument is administered in Bahasa Melayu and specifically designed for Muslim youth in Malaysia. The instrument is intended to serve as a guide for a better undersanding of the trends in cognitive behaviour of form four science stream students when stimulated to think in various situations related to nutrition and eating habit. ATSS Dilema-Nutrisi focuses on the student ability to articulate their thought in non-exam-nature scenarios. In this article, some possible approaches to increase the validity are discussed. Then, the validity dan reliability of the instrument are discussed and tested in a pilot study. The validity and reliability checking are conducted in-depth using descriptive statistics and SPSS 23. From the analysis, the Average Congruency Percentage (ACP) is 90.9%, Content Validity for Individual Item (I-CVI) and Content Validity for Overall Scale (S-CVI) are 1.0. The Inter rater agreement (IRA) is 0.916, Inter rater reliability (IRR) is 0.763, Inter Class Coefficient (ICC) is 0.969, Intra Class Coefficient is 0.978 and Kendall Coefficient of Concordance for response homogeinity (W) is 0.056. From the findings, the instrument has an acceptable range of validity and reliability. Thus, the instrument is corrected and modified according to the expert comments before administrated for data collection.

The taxonomy of the Malik Badri's thinking process phase is a guide for cognitive assessment that has been proposed as an alternative to Bloom's Taxonomy. This taxonomy considers the Islamic worldview to be incorporated into the cognitive evaluation of the Muslims' learning process. This article explored the action-oriented-thinking of a group of students who undergo a unique program inspired by Tauhidic Science concept. The structured interview protocols used in the study was Articulated Thought in Simulated Situation (ATSS) Dilema nutrisi. The ATSS-Dilema nutrisi is an instrument to gauge the goal-oriented thinking based on the Articulated Thought In Simulated Situation (ATSS) procedure. The purpose of this protocol is to explore the cognitive behaviour of 'action-oriented thinking' related to food and dietary practice among students. This study procedure was started with the training protocol and then followed by the ATSS-Dilema nutrisi protocol. Oral responses are transcribed and analyzed until themes are derived. The findings show that based on 108 responses to simulation-related situations, only three of the four phases of the process have been identified namely musyahadah, tadlawuk and tafakur. The highest level of thinking phase which is syuhud is not identified throughout this study.

Bioda’i program has been developed to incline the Biology education in upper secondary school to nurture students’ personality and intellectuality. This program is an innovation and initiative of 16 Biology teachers in effort to integrate the content knowledge in Biology subjects with Islamic Worldview in classrooms, targeted to Muslim science stream students. This article is a review of the principles, goals and implementation of Bioda’i Program. Based on the analysis, the program are found to be premised on the Tauhidic Science Education concept but was adapted according to the needs of the subject, students’ background and the capacity of Biology teacher to modify the teaching and learning process
