Anna Enrichetta Soccio

Anna Enrichetta Soccio took her degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures with full marks at the University “G. D’Annunzio” (Chieti-Pescara, 1991) where she also took her Ph.D. in English Studies (2000). In that same year she got a scholarship from the I.R.FO-D.S.A/U.d’A., Istituto di Ricerca e Formazione (Dipartimento Scienze Aziendali dell’Università degli Studi “G. d’Annunzio” di Pescara), and the qualification to teach in secondary schools. She also completed a two-year post-doctoral course at the University of Tuscia-Viterbo (2001-2003). In 2004 she became Assistant Professor in English Literature at the University “G. D’Annunzio” (Chieti-Pescara), where she taught literature courses as well as language courses. She worked as a secretary of the journal RSV (Rivista di Studi Vittoriani) and is currently a member of the C.U.S.V.E. (Centro Universitario di Studi Vittoriani ed Edoardiani) and part of the editorial board of  RSV, Rivista di Studi Vittoriani and Merope. In 2011 she became Associate Professor and in 2014 she obtained the the national scientific qualification to function as full professor. She is also a member of some literary associations (A.I.A., ESSE, The Gaskell Society, The Philip Larkin Society, A.N.D.A., A.I.D.E.L.). Her interests are mainly focused on Victorian literature and culture with particular attention to those writers – both in and out of the canon – who, from the mid-nineteenth century onwards, have embodied the idea of change and testified to the  complex implications of a society that was fundamentally disharmonic as a consequence of the irreversible process of transformation it had been experiencing. She has also studied the trends of the British poetry from the Second World War to the present. She has participated to a number of conferences and seminars as a speaker and convenor, both in Italy and abroad.
