Exploit airport

The exploitation at this airport just gets worse each time I visit, they will charge you to breathe the air before long. It's a prime example of how bad this country has now become. Charges for dropping off, fines for being dropped off near by. One hour wait to get through the airport security, but pay £6 for the fast track and avoid the queues, it feels like the queues are created to justify people paying the £6 extra, horrible way to start your holiday, decency is no where to be seen.

Daylight robbery

Daylight robbery! I collected my wife
from the birmingham airport, I parked on
pickup section her flight was late by
5 minutes I was charged £23.
In total it 35 minutes when exiting
how can they substantiate these
charges.

Disappointed

I realise that this airport is undergoing major changes but being local and having chosen to use it for the first time in several years I was so disappointed with the experience. There are too observations to comment on individually, but they all culminate with me having to say its unwelcoming when compared with other provincial airports in another county I recently visited. Its a gateway into the UK and first impressions are important and I can only hope that in 2025 it pulls its socks up.

As a warning to customers

As a warning to customers. I was forced to pay a fine of £373 when I left Birmingham Airport car park 5, despite having paid 94.99 an extra charge to extend my car park by a week. I have been fighting for a week to get this money back. I am coming to the conclusion that the people working there are special people. After all, you probably only need to enter the payer's card number into the system to receive receipts for the transaction. This is just bad will or a desire to hide indolence and lack of intelligence. I can't call it anything else.

Not too bad

We regularly fly from here. In the past it has been absolute bedlam.
We got there expecting the worse for an early flight having heard some horror stories.
There was no queues outside. Check in to TUI was only about 30 mins.
Security from start to finish was about an hour. They are trying the best to make it better. But they are doing it in the middle of a building site.
I'm losing patience with this airport now as it starts your holiday off in a bad way.

I fly from Brum aiport all the time

I fly from Brum aiport all the time. The airport is grant, nothing fancy but it serves the purpose. Queues would be over an hour at times. If you fly Ryanair just get yourself a fast track for 5£ on the Ryanair app. It works even if you do it when you arrive at the aiport. However, if you need to book fast track on the Brum aiport website be aware you need to do it at least 6h before your departure time. Otherwise they'll take your 5£ and politely say they needed more time to process your application. No refund. LOL Brum airport!

Awful

Awful, chaotic service at every step of the way. It's almost like there is nobody anywhere on site with the faintest idea about customer service. Rude, thoughtless staff. No smiles. No courtesy.

The latest security system updates seem to have made everything worse with zero perceived advantages - at least not for the paying customer.

Awful, awful, awful. If you have any option then choose a different airport

Chaos

Chaos. Under construction, insufficient staff and insufficient signage while construction is going on. I had to ask one of the builders for directions! Not enough seats for passengers waiting at the gate. My experience was both stressful and unpleasant. When spending a lot of money to travel it’s a very bad start.

Disappointing experience at Birmingham Airport - UK

Disappointing experience at Birmingham Airport.
Outdated facility with unfriendly staff.
Security was a nightmare - 2+ hour queue spanning two floors, with only 3 out of 6-7 belts operating.
Many likely missed flights due to delays. Staff pushed through crowds rudely.
Dirty floors, torn seats, and rubbish everywhere. Unacceptable for an international airport in a developed country.
Will avoid in future, even if it means multiple stops. Consider alternatives if possible.

An embarrassing mess.

This embarrassing shambles has to be seen to be believed. The queue for bag drop was 20 minutes (Berlin, no wait), security queue took 90 minutes (Berlin 45). One passenger on our flight didnt make it. There were likely over a thousand passengers queueing for security checks, passing through a tent outside (no, honestly) and two floors connected ONLY by lifts. There are no escalators or stairs. The airport has exposed ceiling pipework, cabling and has temporary corridors due to building work and it looks a mess. Add in full rubbish bins bins, tables piled high with used cups and glasses, closed toilets and £2 for a small bottle of water and it makes the place dirty and very unpleasant. Go elsewhere if you can.

Absolute dump

Absolute dump at IBIS @ NEC Hotel! Couldn't find our reservation upon arrival and double charged us. Working on getting a refund for their error.

BHX experience

BHX has been my absolute UK favorite airport for last 16 years, it was always better than the others in every aspect - how things change.

The new security is a shambles, even finding your way to departures - if you are not fast track - longer queues, new machines that take longer to get through, blunt staff - must have been taking lessons fro. US airports. Finally airside - where are toilets - corner of weatherspoons - 3 cubicles in male toilet, was a sign in other corner but took you a no entry door, found another small toilet next No 1 lounge - it was in a disgusting state. Sorry BHX.

Until the renovations are complete I would recommend not flying from BHX - hopefully it will go back to that nice airport it use to be.

Don't ever think about flying from…

Don't ever think about flying from Birmingham Airport. Due to the chaotic management of the changes to the security area we were over 1 hour in the cold standing outside in the. car park then a further hour before we were allowed to jump out of crowd of misery to board our flight at the last minute. Now Nick Baron, rather than accepting any blame, let alone apologising to his unfortunate customers who cover his £700,000 salary - has the audacity to blame the passengers.

Shambolic

Shambolic. If the goal was to make the whole experience from leaving the parking lot to reaching the airline gate as slow, cumbersome and infuriating as possible, job done. Not a shred of common sense applied at any point. If you are planning to fly from Birmingham you need to get there at least three hours before departure. Better yet, fly from any other airport in the country.

Absolute joke of an airport

Absolute joke of an airport. 2 hour queues at security, missed flight, no compensation or response to my complaint. Travelling with an 8 month old baby, no empathy from any staff. They even watched my wife sit on the airport floor to feed our baby, without offering her a chair. Never flying from there again, and I recommend no one else does either. £1.5k down and traumatised by the experience, thanks Birmingham airport!!

On arriving back from our holiday from…

On arriving back from our holiday from a poor country with immaculate facilities in their airport, we entered the baggage claim area and had to wait 45 minutes for our luggage to come through at 4am. We had to use the toilets and they were not clean even though the male cleaner was on duty. He was slowly walking around with a litter picker whilst the whole area in mens and ladies had an over bearing odour of stale urine. If other countries can keep these areas clean we struggle to understand how this is allowed to happen in a wealthy country. I challenge the manager or CEO of the airport to use the facilities at 4am. It is disgusting and not a place to be proud of. It needs a thorough clean by staff that are proud if their work not floating around looking busy.

No thought to the traveller

Two hours to get through to security. Two of four lifts working to take everyone to the first floor. Understand upgrade works taking place but bare minimum being done to counter ridiculous delays. Then compounded on return journey by queues of in excess of 1 hour to go through border control. What are we doing. Laughable to all our foreign visitors.

Security takes forever

Security was complete and unabashed incompetence. It really is less than 1 star, and none of the many employees milling about seem to be able to help. Really do leave a lot of extra time if you have no choice but to fly from here.
