It examined the level and variability in energy conservation practices and the level of energy-savings awareness education among households. The findings reveal that years spent in school by household heads, income levels, expenditure, age of households, and the number of times electricity power triples off daily were among the key factors influencing an individual’s choice of energy-efficient appliances. There was significant variability between existing social strata in terms of income and use of electrical appliances among households. Based on the findings, this study recommends a robust energy literacy program to improve households’ energy efficiency practices awareness, and in order to ensure energy cost savings, environmental protection, and climate change mitigation that will enhance the drive towards achieving sustainable development goals seven (SD...

Interview schedules were used to gather primary data from 400 randomly selected respondents in six communities within the Cape Coast Metropolis. The results showed that hydro-electric power and solar were the most used renewable energy sources. LPG was the second widely used energy source because it was one of the clean energies promoted by the Ghanaian Government. The level of awareness of households’ on renewable energy was low however, most of the respondents indicated their willingness to use alternative renewable energy sources. It is recommended that the Energy Commission should increase households’ awareness that would inform their willingness to use renewable energy.

However, there seems to be an unconcluded argument about the influence of demographic characteristics on road crossing behaviour. This study aimed at examine the gender differences in road crossing behaviour of UCC students on campus. The study was done by mapping out the road conditions of pedestrian crossing sites, identifing the perceived gender prone to indulge in bad road crossing behaviour and examine the gendered perception towards drivers’ attitude on road crossing behaviour on campus. An observation checklist was used to observe the road crossing behaviour of both men and women while one Focused Group Discusions was conducted each for men and women groups on UCC campus. Results indicated that men were more prone to road crossing accidents than women. Further analysis showed differing drivers attitudes towards pedestrians and road...

However, there seems to be an unconcluded argument about the influence of demographic characteristics on road crossing behaviour. This study examined the gender differences in road crossing behaviour of UCC students on campus. The study was done by mapping out the road conditions of pedestrian crossing sites, identifying the perceived gender prone to indulge in bad road crossing behaviour and examine the gendered perception towards drivers' attitude on road crossing behaviour on campus. An observation checklist was used to observe the road crossing behaviour of both men and women. One Focused Group Discussion was conducted each for men and women groups on UCC campus. Results indicated that men were more prone to road crossing accidents than women. Further analysis showed differing drivers' attitudes towards pedestrians and road crossing behaviours by men and women on campus. It was found that women were relatively treated better than men. It is recommended that road users educated to be sensitive to each other to reduce gender-biased attitude and behaviours while using the road.
