On the way home from Pennsylvania, Art and I watched a movie called About Time. Surprisingly we both liked it a lot.
It's from the creators of Love Actually and Notting Hill.
I guess it's a surprise that Art liked it also because he's not a huge fan of chick flicks. He's more science fiction or action.
This movie was OK for him because it had a touch of science fiction.
It's about a fellow who learns from his father when he turns 21 that he had inherited the ability to go back in time to any part of his life that he would like to change.
We also watched The Imitation Game which I did enjoy though it wasn't my usual choice.

You make me realize I haven't gone to any movies in ages! But I am looking forward to The Lady in the Van.
ReplyDeleteI saw Grandma and enjoyed it (not as much as I hoped I would), but my favorite recent movie is Meru, a documentary about three men to climbed a mountain in the Himalayas. And I loved The Imitation Game. :-)
ReplyDeleteShe was in another movie as the wife of another time traveler. This one was much better.
ReplyDeleteHow funny! I saw Time Traveler's Wife and didn't even realize it was the same actress in About Time. I loved the book too since it was written by a Chicago author and the story takes place in the Chicagoland area.
DeleteSounds a lot like the film, When Peggy Sue got married. Glad you enjoyed the film. I never watch films anymore.
ReplyDeleteOf the movies you talk about, I've only seen Notting Hill . . . and I like it so much that I've watched it several times. Now I need to check out the other movies mentioned. Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteWe watched War Room the other night. I was surprised that it was a Christian based movie and not a real war movie. I'm looking forward to The Intern and then The Martian.
ReplyDeleteI tend to like chick flicks, my husband likes action/adventure/violence sheesh.
ReplyDeleteMost recently, I liked The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Usually, my favorite movies are shoot em up, fast suspense type like all the Die Hards with Bruce Willis - gets my heart pumping like crazy and they end with the good guys winning.
ReplyDeleteThat was a sweet little film

We've been watching documentaries but this movie sound fun. thanks for the suggestion-keep them coming.
ReplyDeleteGetting caught up. Well, I have insect bites and a new dental implant and it's too hot, but I'm pretty happy anyway!
ReplyDeleteWelcome home!
ReplyDeleteWe haven't seem many movies lately. We both really liked Imitation Game.
We watched a documentary -- Buck -- while on vacation. It was about a real horse whisperer (who advised Robert Redford in the movie). I really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI have seen the Imitation Game and that was fascinating. We recently joined a film society and the first film was "Ida" a Polish film about a young novice nun who discovers that she is Jewish before she takes her vows. It was filmed in black and white and was excellent despite having to read the subtitles. In the theater we recently saw "A Walk in the Woods" with Robert Redford and Nick Nolte based loosely on Bill Bryson's book. Scenery was lovely but story line a bit unbelievable. Redford and Nolte were too old to be tackling the Appalachian Trail with no previous experience.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a long time, mostly because the nearest theater is a three hour round trip. I had Netflix for a while but kept being disappointed by the quality of movies, even the highly touted ones. I do have my eye on " Martian" however. Might even make the long trip for that one.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like an interesting movie. We don't go out to the movies very often but for the first time in ages we did and saw A Walk in the Woods with Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. I have read several Bill Bryson books and it caught my interest. I'm glad Gregg enjoyed it too.
ReplyDeleteI loved that one!!!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. We rented it!
