Starscream (G1)/toys
From Transformers Wiki
Many toys have been made of Generation 1 Starscream, enough to warrant this page!
The Transformers
- Starscream (Decepticon Jet, 1984-1986 / 1990)
- Takara ID number: 22
- Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, 2 "null-rays", 2 "cluster bombs", left & right wings, left & right tail fins, left & right tail wings, landing gear
- Known designers: Kōjin Ōno (TakaraTomy)
- Released in the first year of the original Transformers toyline, Starscream began life as "Jet Robo" from the Japanese Diaclone line, transforming into a grey, red and blue F-15 Eagle fighter jet. To transform Starscream, one must essentially take most of his plane parts off and transform his body, then reattach most of plane parts on again, along with the addition of two blue fists. Owing to the modular nature of his design and the fact that it is impossible to store all the parts in either mode, it can be quite difficult to find an intact original set of this toy.
- Starscream is armed with a pair of missile launchers that mount on his arms in robot mode, and under his wings in jet mode, with a pair of specialized projectiles for each. In jet mode, two short "cluster bomb" projectiles are fitted into the launchers to make them resemble the drop tanks a real F-15 carries, while in robot mode, they are replaced with the long barrels of Starscream's null-rays. The original Diaclone version of the mold featured spring-loaded firing mechanisms in these launchers; while this feature was removed for the Hasbro release of the toy, it was left intact for the Takara version, and all subsequent reissues.
- The Diaclone version of the Starscream mold featured tailfins with solid tips and solid fists, and both these features carried over to the earliest Transformers releases. Soon, however, the Transformers mold was modified to add hollow tips to the fins, and tabs to the insides of the fists to allow them to hold onto his arms tighter, resulting in a visible slit on either side of each one. These altered versions became the standard for all subsequent reissues of the mold. Like all his 1984 brethren, a rubsign was added to Starscream in 1985.
- Presumably by mistake, the stats on Starscream, Skywarp, and Thundercracker's Tech Specs were switched around. Starscream's box was given Thundercracker's numbers, notably giving him a lower rank and speed that stood in contrast to the bio printed next to them.
- The Italian release of Starscream (as "Astrum") by GiG put him in a generic "Distructor Planes" box, featuring names and tech specs for all three planes in the assortment.
- Starscream's mold was redecoed into the concurrently-available Thundercracker and Skywarp. It would later be redecoed again to make Sunstorm, and retooled into Dirge, Ramjet, and Thrust.
- Given his role as a major and popular character, Starscream himself would be reissued many times down the years, the first being still in his original packaging in Australia in 1990 (see below). Subsequent reissues had more distinctive presentation, and this article strives to list each one under its own header. He was available throughout the first three years of the original US line, up through 1986 despite the departure of nearly every other 1984 toy from store shelves that year.
- Good Bye Megatron (Multi-pack, 1986)
- Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, 2 "null-rays", 2 "cluster bombs", left & right wings, left & right tail fins, left & right tail wings, landing gear
- The second release of Starscream's toy came with this Japanese-exclusive two-pack, which saw him packaged alongside Megatron, in commemoration of the Decepticon leader's passing (of sorts) in The Transformers: The Movie.
- Starscream himself was actually dead, but where was his "Good Bye Starscream" set, eh?
- Starscream (Classic Pretender, 1989)
- Accessories: 2-part Pretender shell, helmet, left & right wings, left & right "lasers"/tail wings, rifle
- Known designers: Masakatsu Saito (concept artist)
- The first new Starscream toy since the original brought the treacherous Air Commander back as a Classic Pretender. He still transforms into a grey, red and blue F-15 fighter jet, though his vehicle mode now borders on the super deformed. He is armed with a pair of blue lasers, which become his tail fins in jet mode.
- Starscream's two-piece Pretender shell resembles a human in a teal, grey and brown space armored suit with a removable helmet. The shell is armed with a large blue rifle. When Starscream is inside the shell, his removable grey wings store in holes on the shell's back, while the blue lasers get plugged into the sides of the large rifle.
- Starscream (Legends, 1989)
- Accessories: Left & right wings, left & right "lasers"/tail wings
- The inner robot of Pretender Starscream was also sold as a Kmart exclusive "Legends" figure, sans its shell and the shell's accessories. It was otherwise identical to the Classic Pretender release.
- The Legends were the first store-exclusive Transformers toys in the US, and were the only store-exclusive Transformers toys for a long, long time.
- Hero Set (Multi-pack, 1989)
- Accessories: Left & right wings, left & right "lasers"/tail wings
- Released exclusively in Japan instead of the individual Classic Pretender figures, rather than in addition to them, this giftset contained the "Legends" versions of Pretender Starscream and his fellow Classic Pretenders, Bumblebee, Jazz, and Grimlock. This version of Starscream featured a silver face, as opposed to the Hasbro version's black.
- In Italy, GiG also forewent releasing the individual Classic Pretenders, and instead released their own version of the Hero Set named "Set Commandos". Starscream was given the name "Tornado", which was originally the Italian name of Air Raid. The "Set Commandos" toys were identical to the Japanese "Hero Set" versions.
- Turbo Jet with Action Master Starscream (Action Blaster Vehicle, 1990)
- Accessories: Turbo Jet, rifle, 2 missiles, seatback/shield
- Known designers: Masakatsu Saito (concept artist)
- Released in the seventh and final year of the original Transformers line (well, final in the US, anyway), Action Master Starscream is a non-transforming 3¾-inch action figure based loosely on his cartoon character model, but using a color scheme derived from the Pretender toy. His construction is broadly similar to that used by the G.I. Joe figures of the time, having a swivel neck, shoulders and knees, plus ball-jointed hips attached via a steel rod internally secured by a rubber "o-ring". His hands have standard 3 mm holes which allow him to hold any other accessory in the Action Master line, plus his feet have holes in the bottom to secure him to larger vehicles. On top of that, the hole in his back is compatible with 5 mm posts.
- One of two toys in the "Action Blaster Vehicle" assortment, he came with the Turbo Jet, a small personal attack craft that Starscream can set astride like a motorcycle. The Turbo Jet rolls on three small wheels, and can transform into a gun emplacement.
- This mold was redecoed as Action Master Thundercracker.
- Starscream (Jetron, 2001)
- ID number: 22
- Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, 2 null-rays, 2 cluster bombs, left & right wings, left & right tail fins, left & right tail wings, landing gear
- The first of numerous reissues of the original Starscream toy in the 21st century, this Japanese release of the figure included functional spring-loaded launchers, and was also simultaneously available as three different exclusive redecos, listed below.
- Starscream Secret Version (スタースクリームシークレットバージョン, 2001)
- ID number: 22
- Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, 2 null-rays, 2 cluster bombs, left & right wings, left & right tail fins, left & right tail wings, landing gear
- The third exclusive redeco of the original Starscream toy released alongside the 2001 reissues, "Starscream Secret Version" was available through the Lucky Draw contest held in conjunction with the first edition of Transformers Generations (with a Super Collection Figure Skywarp figurine as second prize). The figure was limited to only five pieces, making it one of the rarest officially-released Transformers toys in the world, and to cap it off, the toy was not actually shown during the contest, hence its "Secret" moniker. Given its amazingly limited availability, it was not even known what the toy looked like until a picture of it appeared in Transformers Generations 2009 Volume 2, showing it as being primarily clear and colorless.
Generation 2
- Starscream (Decepticon, 1992)
- Accessories: 2 missile launchers, 2 missiles, left & right fists, left & right wings, left & right horizontal tail fins, left & right upright tail fins, front landing gear, "sound/light energy unit"
- Part of the very first assortment of Generation 2 product released just in time for the 1992 holiday season, Starscream's original toy was redecoed into a very bright white and light gray, with a salmon torso. His original missile launchers have been replaced with a new pair of spring-loaded missile launchers and long missiles; the launcher and missile molds were also used for his assortment-mate Ramjet.
- Also new to this version is a large electronic "sound/light energy unit" in a kinda engine-gun-like shape (a mold also used by Ramjet). Powered by a pair of watch batteries, pressing the two soft-plastic buttons up front activates flashing red lights and sound effects. The left button makes machinegun noises as long as you hold it down, while the right starts an unstoppable jet-noise sequence of rising then falling pitch; you can activate the machinegun sounds in the middle of it, and the jet noises will resume as soon as you release the gun button. This assembly doesn't really go anywhere in robot mode, but attaches to the back end of his jet mode thanks to a trio of pegs that were added to his tooling.
- This version of the mold would have been used to make Generation 2 Blackout.
- Advanced Tactical Bomber Megatron (Decepticon, 1995)
- Accessories: 12 missiles, 2 missile launchers
- A planned-but-more-or-less-canceled redeco of Generation 2 Dreadwing, "Advanced Tactical Bomber" Megatron would have come with Starscream, a redeco of Dreadwing's partner Smokescreen. The pair can combine into the "flying wing" Advanced Tactical Bomber, while Starscream can detach to become a smaller solo jet, leaving Megatron to transform into a treaded tank mode. According the Toy Fair 1995 Transformers presentation, the toy's missiles are intended to glow in the dark.
- This figure was only released to test markets in Ohio, USA in very limited quantities. It was never available as a wide release. So yeah, not exactly canceled, but good luck obtaining one.
- This toy's deco was modified to make Beast Wars BB and Starscream out of the same mold-set. Importantly, this Starscream has light gray plastic rather than Beast Wars II Starscream's silver plastic, as well as an unpainted gray head with a blue faceplate where Beast Wars II has a painted-black helmet with silver faceplate, and of course, different stickers between the two. The missiles in the set are also retooled with a different, pointier back-end, indicating the launchers' interiors were also retooled; this tooling is however completely different from the retooling done to each individual later use of the mold, meaning none of the missiles are interchangeable between them.

Machine Wars
- Starscream (Ultra, 1997)
- Accessories: 10 missiles
- Starscream's Machine Wars incarnation is a redeco of the Predator Skyquake, transforming into a large bomber jet based vaguely upon an SR-71 Blackbird. The main feature of the toy is its "carpet bombing" gimmick; each wing contains a drum that holds up to four missiles, which drop out as the drum is rotated. A further two missiles can also store on each wing, and one on each side of his fuselage, but while Skyquake came with enough missiles to fill all these ports, Starscream only comes with ten. The short length of the missiles necessary for this gimmick to function means that Starscream does not come with Skyquake's firing missile launcher, since the missiles are shorter than US safety standards allow, although it is incorrectly shown on his packaging. Starscream also lacks Skyquake's Megavisor gimmick. The figure also features a barely noticeable yet enormous Decepticon symbol on the top of the plane rendered in black paint on black plastic.
- Starscream is known to have come with either pale grey missiles, better fitting his new color scheme, bright green missiles like Skyquake's, or missiles made from glow-in-the-dark plastic.
- This mold was later redecoed to make King Atlas. The toy doubles as the Starscream drones in Wings Universe and as an unnamed character in 2019 IDW continuity.
Transtech
- Starscream
- Starscream would have been made available in the aborted Transtech series in 2001. Control art and early Prototype images have surfaced, showing that the toy would have been at the Deluxe scale and featured internal lighting mechanisms that changed color depending on its mode. The toy is clearly a homage to his Machine Wars body, which at the time of Transtech's intended release would have been the last form Starscream had inhabited in American markets.
- In 2008, this design would be repurposed as the TransTech universe's Starscream.
- This design was revived by Draxhall Jump when they were contracted to create the Marvel Megamorphs line for Toy Biz; Starscream ultimately became the Iron Man toy.
Collector's Edition
- Starscream Ghost Version (e-Hobby Exclusive, 2001)
- ID number: 22
- Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, 2 null-rays, 2 cluster bombs, left & right wings, left & right tail fins, left & right tail wings, landing gear
- Available concurrently with the 2001 reissue of the original Generation 1 Starscream figure, "Starscream Ghost Version" is an e-HOBBY exclusive Collector's Edition redeco of the 2001 Starscream reissue, cast almost entirely in translucent plastics (except for those parts made of die-cast metal) in homage to Starscream's tenure as a ghost in the third season of the original The Transformers cartoon. To make the toy further match Starscream's cartoon appearance, it features a notably lighter shade of blue, and a translucent orange cockpit as opposed to the traditional smoky grey.
- The toy came in unique monochrome-blue window box packaging featuring CGI artwork of Starscream. It was also only available sold as a set with the "Black Version" Starscream below, shipping out in December.
- Starscream Black Version (e-Hobby Exclusive, 2001)
- ID number: 22
- Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, 2 null-rays, 2 cluster bombs, left & right wings, left & right tail fins, left & right tail wings, landing gear
- The second Collector's Edition e-HOBBY-exclusive redeco available concurrently with the 2001 reissue of the original Generation 1 Starscream toy, "Starscream Black Version" sports a color scheme loosely based upon Machine Wars Starscream, despite the only real point of similarity being that they are both black. The toy's bio makes a rare fictional reference to Machine Wars, describing the events of the series in the past tense.
- The toy shared the window-box packaging of the "Ghost Version" (see above), except its box was monochrome-black. It was also only available sold as a set with said "Ghost Version", shipping out in December.
Commemorative Series
- Starscream (2003)
- Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, 2 null-rays, 2 cluster bombs, left & right wings, left & right tail fins, left & right tail wings, landing gear
- The first reissue of the original Starscream toy in North America since the Generation 1 toyline reached its end, this "Commemorative Series" edition of the figure was a Toys"R"Us exclusive. It featured functional missile launchers for the first time on a Hasbro version of the toy, but because the launchers now worked, both sets of missiles had to be lengthened for safety reasons. This didn't work out so badly with the null-rays, but the cluster bombs just wound up looking stupid.
The Transformers Collection
- Starscream (2003)
- ID number: 9
- Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, 2 null-rays, 2 cluster bombs, left & right wings, left & right tail fins, left & right tail wings, landing gear, two-piece gun mode Megatron, Optimus Prime fist
- As another in an increasingly large number of reissues of the original Generation 1 Starscream toy, this entry in the Japanese-exclusive The Transformers Collection line of reissues decided to mix things up by giving the figure a full-scale redeco into show-accurate colors. His blue plastic became much lighter, while his cockpit was made bright orange, and even featured new grey paint applications running across it. Several of his stickers were replaced with new, show-accurate paint applications, including new wing-stripes and tampographed Decepticon symbols on his wings and nosecone (of course, Starscream didn't have one on his nosecone in the cartoon, so it isn't perfect!).
- Starscream's fists were remolded with new circular peg-holes so he could wield his missile launchers in his hands, which also worked in conjunction with a new tab on the fists' undersides to allow him to hold his new accessory: Megatron in gun mode. This miniature Megatron splits into two pieces at the handle, with each half plugging into the new hole and tab added to each of Starscream's fists. Megatron can also plug into Starscream's underside in jet mode, replicating the time the characters linked up in this fashion in the cartoon episode, "S.O.S. Dinobots". The set also came with a remolded fist for the original Optimus Prime toy, allowing him to hold the Megatron accessory, and a DVD featuring a trailer for the upcoming Playstation 2 video game The Transformers and Japanese toy commercials for Optimus Prime, Rodimus Prime and Chromedome.
Smallest Transforming Transformers
- Starscream (2003)
- ID number: GTF-03
- Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers/cluster bombs, left & right wings, left & right tailfins
- Standing at only two inches tall, Smallest Transforming Transformers Starscream is a very small-scale simplification of the original Starscream toy. It retains a surprising amount of the larger toy's functionality and accessories, except its tail fins and wings are combined into single pieces, and his null-rays and landing gear are left out.
- This mold was, of course, redecoed into Smallest Transforming versions of Skywarp and Thundercracker, and retooled into Thrust.
Robotmasters
- Starscream (2004)
- ID number: RM-12
- Release date: August 5, 2004
- Accessories: 2 null-rays, 2 missile pods
- Part of the second wave of Takara's Robotmasters toys, Starscream is a re-imagining of the original Generation 1 figure, retaining its basic transformation scheme, but designed to be closer to the animation model, with greater articulation and integrated parts that do not require detachment during transformation. The only pieces that now need to be removed are Starscream's null-ray rifles, which move from his wings to his arms. He has three peg-holes on each arm, allowing the null-rays to be mounted on his shoulders, on his forearms, or in his fists. These holes are also designed to accommodate the generic spring-loaded missile launcher weapon included with Robotmasters G1 Convoy, Beast Convoy and Beast Megatron.
- Starscream came with two "missile pods" based on weapons Starscream used but once, in the Generation 1 cartoon episode "Fire on the Mountain". These chromed accessories plug into the square holes in Starscream's chest, and feature opening covers that reveal (non-firing) missiles within.
- This mold was redecoed into Robotmasters Skywarp and Thundercracker.
- Starscream Limited Black Version (2004)
- ID number: RM-12
- Accessories: 2 null-rays, 2 missile pods, Jamming Trident
- Available only via mail-order through Figure Ō No. 80, the "Limited Black Version" of Starscream is just that: a straight black redeco of the Starscream toy, replacing the original toy's blue, red and the grey of his wings with black. He comes with all his original accessories, as well as a gold-chromed version of the "Jamming Trident" solitarium weapon that came with Wingstun.
Masterpiece
- Starscream (September 28, 2006)
- ID number: MP-3
- Accessories: 2 null-rays, 2 missile racks, Doctor Arkeville pilot figurine, gun clip, two-piece display stand
- Known designers: Shōji Kawamori (TakaraTomy), Hironori Kobayashi (initial concept)
- The second figure designed in Takara's Masterpiece line, this highly-detailed version of Starscream is the "odd man out" of the series, eschewing the slavish cartoon-accuracy of the other Masterpiece figures in favor of creating as accurate an F-15 Eagle alternate mode as possible, with a somewhat more stylized robot mode. As it happens, this Starscream does not transform into a standard F-15 Eagle, rather he transforms into an F-15E Strike Eagle; with the dead giveaways being in the conformal fuel tanks on the fuselage, darker aircraft camouflage, and the placement of the real-world-styled decals. The toy features several unobtrusive built-in gimmicks, including numerous opening panels on his jet mode surface (highlighting the attention this mode received), flip-up panels in his chest that reveal missile racks based on the weapons seen in the Generation 1 episode "Fire on the Mountain", and a rotating face that allows Starscream to switch his expression from stony-faced to sneering. Owners of the toy are given quite a few customization options, as Starscream comes with an extensive sheet of sticker decals, including variously sized Decepticon symbols, and squadron numbers and markings, including one of Waspinator!
- In addition to his built-in features, Starscream comes with several accessories. He is armed with both his traditional null-ray rifles, but his familiar cluster bombs are replaced with a rack of (slightly inaccurate) Sidewinder missiles. He also comes with a clip that mounts under his nosecone, allowing him to hold the Megatron pistol accessory that came with 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime in emulation of the way the characters linked up in "S.O.S. Dinobots", and a small figurine of Doctor Arkeville, his partner in crime from several first-season episodes of the Generation 1 cartoon, which can fit in his cockpit. Finally, he includes a two-piece, reconfigurable display base that allows the figure to be posed in mid-flight in either jet or robot mode, and can store Starscream's accessories while they are not in use. Control art for Masterpiece Starscream which showed the figure wearing his Crown of Leadership (as seen in the coronation scene of the original animated movie) and a pair of otherwise-pointless flip-out notches in the finished toy's shoulders indicated that Takara planned for a set of clip-on coronation gear. Ultimately, it would take six years before these accessories were finally released.
- Masterpiece Starscream's creation was overseen by famed Japanese mecha designer Shōji Kawamori, who was particularly intent on hiding the robot-mode details on the underside of the fighter mode. The first prototype for the figure was essentially an upgraded, more complex version of the original toy, with much more accurate robot and jet modes, but Kawamori's desire to avoid simply making a new version of an old toy saw the figure go through a major redesign into its finished form. Perhaps the most notable change was the repositioning of Starscream's tail-fin structures from his legs to his hips, with the intent of creating the feel of a samurai wearing a pair of swords at his waist (presumably, if somewhat oddly, based on the then-recent Armada and Energon cartoons' portrayal of their Starscream as a noble swordsman). Even so, Kawamori was still unhappy with the amount of robotic parts visible underneath the plane, but conceded that too many changes would essentially not make the toy look like Starscream in robot mode. In this pursuit of realism, the most visible concession to the design was the abandonment of his traditional color scheme (which is much closer to a standard F-15's color scheme), replaced with an all-over greenish-tinged grey—a color scheme that is more accurate to the real-world version of the toy's F-15E Strike Eagle vehicle mode.
- This mold was later retooled into the Masterpiece versions of Skywarp and Thundercracker, and was recolored by Hasbro into a more cartoon-accurate Starscream color scheme released under their Classics line as well as redecoed into Hasbro's version of Masterpiece Skywarp under the Universe line. It was also redecoed and retooled to create the eleventh Masterpiece figure, Starscream.
- Though not stated on the package, Starscream is in fact a 1/60 scale F-15. The same scale used by many popular Japanese mecha toys including Kawamori's own Macross Valkyries. Coincidence?

- Starscream Ghost Version (2010)
- ID number: MP-3G
- Accessories: 2 null-rays, 2 missile racks, Doctor Arkeville pilot figurine, gun clip, two-piece display stand
- Cast almost entirely in translucent plastic, this "Ghost Version" Masterpiece figure is yet another callback to Starscream's spectral tenure from the Generation 1 cartoon. When purchased from e-HOBBY, buyers received an exclusive comic packaged with the figure. Surprisingly, Ghost Starscream comes with the same sticker sheet as the original MP-3 Starscream, only with the numbering designation changed.
- Like Gentei Ghost Starscream, Masterpiece Ghost Starscream is cast in light purple translucent plastic instead of just colorless clear plastic like the G1 Ghost Starscream figure.
- Extreme caution is needed while transforming/posing this toy: Several parts of him (especially the wing connectors) are prone to breakage.
- Starscream[1] (March 31, 2012)
- ID number: MP-11
- Accessories: Crown, pauldrons (left and right), cape, 2 null-rays, hologram pilot figurine
- Known designers: Shogo Hasui and Hironori Kobayashi (TakaraTomy)
- Following up on the original plan for the Masterpiece Starscream figure six years after the fact, MP-11 decks Screamer out in his coronation gear from The Transformers: The Movie, including crown, twin shoulder pads, and a sculpted plastic cape (rather than a fabric one). In addition to his new accessories—which also include a new hologram pilot figure in place of Doctor Arkeville—Starscream features some extensive retooling to wind his Masterpiece design away from Kawamori's original, less Generation 1-accurate look, with most of the robot mode being newly tooled parts, including chunkier legs that now incorporate his tail-fins, retooled shoulders and wingtips that no longer curve into one another, a new head (with collapsible head fins), new heel spurs that flip out for added support in robot mode, and re-engineered null-rays attached to extending armatures that mean they no longer have to be removed for transformation. Despite the similarity to the original MP-3 prototype, the retooled parts are in fact a whole new design heavily based on the original concept. This new version of the mold was redecoed into Sunstorm and (without the coronation gear) into Hasbro's Thundercracker, Skywarp and Acid Storm. It was later retooled into the Coneheads Ramjet, Thrust and Dirge, although the mold by that point had noticeably deteriorated, resulting in numerous quality control issues.
- 2013 saw a China-only re-release of MP-11 Starscream. While announced as the same as the original, it featured some changes. Chief among them is the head is no longer molded in light gray plastic painted over gloss black and dark metallic gray (for the face) but it's molded in a more cartoon accurate dark gray (for the helmet) and a lighter metallic gray for the face. This release also features the nosecone molded in light gray plastic rather than molded in blue and then painted over light gray. The black tabs on the top of the jet are now the same grey as the rest of the jet. It also included a collector's coin like the original Asian (excluding Japan) release.
- The figure was reissued once more, this time in Japan, in April 2017 along with several other toys in the line to coincide with the release of the then upcoming MP36 Megatron and features a "Good design award" mark on the box.
- This version was released by Hasbro under Generations co-branding (see next entry just below).

- Starscream (2015)
- ID number: MP-07
- Accessories: 2 null-rays, 2 missile racks, hologram pilot figurine, two-piece display stand, gun clip
- The Hasbro version of MP-11 differs from the Takara release in a toy-accurate blue nose cone, borders around the Decepticon logo, a slightly different grey plastic, the tabs of the top of the jet are in grey (like the second release of MP-11) and is missing the coronation gear. However, he does come with the stand from previous Masterpiece Seekers and two racks of missiles that can peg onto the bottom of his wings in place of the null-rays. Neither the box nor the instructions mention this, but he comes with the gray clip that can hold the Megatron gun that came with other Masterpiece figures, such as MP-1 Optimus Prime or MP-13 Soundwave. Official images, including the box art, shows the top of the wings mis-transformed in robot mode.
- Despite still using the numbering system of Hasbro's Masterpiece line begun in 2013, Starscream was co-branded as part of the Generations line. He was available exclusively at Toys"R"Us stores in the US, Australia, and Canada.
- This version of Starscream is created by attaching the included shoulder intakes and alternate Starscream head to MP-44 Convoy ver. 3.0, recreating the scene from "Megatron's Master Plan, Part 1" (as well as a different shot in Part 2) where an impostor Optimus Prime was portrayed by Starscream.

- Starscream Ver. 2.0 (June 26, 2021)
- ID number: MP-52
- Accessories: 5 alternate faces, Gun mode Megatron, 5 effect parts, 2-part stand base, stand arm, stand cradle, pincer, drill, asteroid fragment
- Known designers: Kōjin Ōno (TakaraTomy)
- The third iteration of Masterpiece Starscream features more cartoon-accurate proportions compared to previous releases. He can also convert into his Gerwalk-styled "Alternate Transformation" while in Jet mode. Popular toy magazine Figure King profiled this new cartoon/Anime accurate version in issue #242.
- A Hobby Magazine issue revealed that his chest was redesigned during the prototype's production, allowing the parts to correctly sit flush.
- For accessories, he comes with 5 alternate faces, various effect parts and, like many other newer Masterpiece figures, a bunch of accessories referring to determinate appearances of the character in the G1 cartoon, such as Megatron in gun mode (the first time such an accessory has been included with a Masterpiece Starscream), the drill arm seen in "The Core" and the pincer he used in "Cosmic Rust" to remove the asteroid fragment from Megatron's arm, alongside said asteroid fragment. He also comes with a 2-piece stand with an adaptable arm, a purple redeco of the one that came with Dinobot, plus a specific cradle adapter to attach Starscream in Gerwalk mode to the stand. Numerous cases of hairline cracks have been reported at the wrist joints and tailfin joints.
- Upon the announcement of the second version of Masterpiece Skywarp, a competition for Starscream's add-on kit was revealed; giving him his iconic crown and cape from The Transformers: The Movie. Those who purchased Starscream, Skywarp, and Thundercracker could snip off a box flap of each figure, mail them in and receive the Coronation set for free. This was only available to those who lived in Japan, but since each box flap had a unique code, there was no household limit to how many one could redeem.
- Masterpiece Starscream Ver. 2.0 was redecoed into the TakaraTomy Mall exclusive Thundercracker.

Classics
- Starscream (Deluxe, 2006)
- Accessories: 2 null-ray cannons (left and right), 2 missiles
- Known designers: Eric Siebenaler (Hasbro), Shogo Hasui (TakaraTomy), Don Figueroa (concept artist)
- Like the other entries in the Classics series, Starscream is a faithful "modernizing" of his original Generation 1 form, updating his original toy with modern standards of toy engineering, transformation, sculpting detail and articulation (not dissimilar in principle from his Robotmasters incarnation, but with less of an adherence to his cartoon character model). Sharing many design elements with his Masterpiece toy, Starscream still transforms into an F-15 Eagle, but has the nose of an F-14 Tomcat fighter jet. His color scheme is, of course, based on the traditional Starscream palette, but seems to owe its new layout to the original F-15 prototype.
- As usual, Starscream is armed with his familiar null-rays, which can mount under his wings, on his shoulders, or in his fists, and fire spring-loaded projectiles. The large size of his null-rays (necessary for safety reasons) restrict his arm movement somewhat in robot mode, as they bump into his wings. Like all Classics figures, he has a heat-activated rubsign on his left wing. Certain parts of Starscream, like his back panel and tailfin assemblies, are made of unusually rigid gray plastic that is slightly prone to cracking or breaking, and should be handled with care.
- Later versions of Starscream saw a retool in the jet intake area, which involved the slope of his shoulders being decreased, and a fifth small rectangle being added to the vertical area. This version of Starscream is the harder to find of the two, but was used as the basis for all subsequent redecos and retools. Despite its age, the mold has been frequently reused for various Seeker characters in the years since its first use, though its last few uses have exhibited visible signs of mold degredation.

Henkei! Henkei! Starscream Ghost Version |
- Masterpiece Starscream (2007, 2008)
- Accessories: 2 null-rays, 2 missile racks, Doctor Arkeville pilot figurine, gun clip, display stand
- A Walmart exclusive, Hasbro's Masterpiece Starscream is an extensive redeco of the previous year's Masterpiece figure from Takara, recolored to resemble the character's animation model, down to the orange canopy and the silver nosecone, although the cartoon-accurate silver paint on the nosecone actually covers toy-accurate blue plastic.[2] In an effort to bring out detail in the sculpt, he has also been given an extensive paint wash to bring out his panel lines. His colors were not the only thing changed, however; the tips of his vertical stabilizers were shortened and rounded, and the plastics used overall have greater resilience to impact and damage than the fragile Japanese release.
- Starscream includes the same accessories as the Takara version of the toy, including a two-piece display stand, null-rays, sidewinder missiles, a small figurine of Doctor Arkeville (which now has the correct skin color), and a clip to hold 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime's Megatron gun while in jet mode. Starscream was finally given the correct tech spec stats he was originally supposed to have back in 1984 for this release, which had been mistakenly given to Skywarp instead.
- Takara got in on the act the following year when they released Hasbro's version of Masterpiece Starscream as a "USA Edition", adding a Japanese sticker to the Hasbro Classics packaging. This version of the toy was not without a few changes: the original mold for the tail fins was used, an extra Decepticon symbol was added to Starscream's nosecone (which was present on his original toy, but not his animation model), and his black "scorch mark" paint operations were dialed back, and those that remained were switched to a lighter gray.

Titanium Series
- Starscream (6" Cybertron Heroes, 2007)
- Accessories: Display stand
- Perversely enough, Titanium Starscream is actually a redeco of Titanium Thundercracker, instead of the other way around. Based on the Seekers' Cybertronian forms as seen in the Dreamwave comic series The War Within, this version of Starscream transforms into Cybertronian "tetrajet", as designed by Don Figueroa. As a Titanium figure, Starscream is made in large part from die-cast metal, and comes with the generic display stand shared by all of the 6" "Cybertron Heroes", with a unique removable nameplate.
Sports Label
- Starscream featuring Nike Free 7.0 (unreleased)
- Accessories: Gun
- This red and black redeco of the Sports Label Megatron figure (itself a retool of the Sports Label Optimus Prime) appeared on eBay in mid-2007, identified by the auctioneer as Starscream. More pictures followed from a different source a month later, but after that, this strange little redeco quietly vanished, never released, and never even officially acknowledged by TakaraTomy. Was it a knock-off, or an abandoned official product? We may never know.
- As a redeco of the one communal mold used for all the Sports Label toys, Starscream, if that's who he really was, would have transformed into an undersized Nike sneaker with real fabric shoelaces, and would have been armed with a modular two-piece gun that split and stored inside each half of the large sneaker "shell" that made up a big chunk of his alternate mode.
Encore
- Starscream (2007)
- ID number: 04
- Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, 2 null-rays, 2 cluster bombs, left & right wings, left & right tail fins, left & right tail wings, landing gear
- A new series of reissues means a new release of the original Generation 1 Starscream figure, and Takara's Encore series proved no different. This edition of the figure featured no extra accessories, with its notable change from past versions being the body color being more of a whiteish grey color instead of the metallic grey of the original 1984 version, a pale yellow window instead of dark gray, and the inclusion of tampographed Decepticon insignias on its wings and nosecone, rather than stickers (similar to the Transformers Collection reissue before it but not flipped like the animation and metallic purple and silver instead of glossy purple and white). The sculpted copyright date is still the Commemorative Series release.
Henkei! Henkei!
- Starscream (Deluxe, 2008-03-13)
- ID number: D-02
- Accessories: 2 missile launchers (left and right), 2 missiles
- Known designers: Shogo Hasui (TakaraTomy)
- Henkei! Henkei! Starscream is a redeco of Classics Starscream, decorated in entirely different colored paint applications to more closely mimic a more detailed version of the original Generation 1 cartoon model. Like all Henkei toys, he lacks the heat-sensitive rubsign that the Classics counterpart featured, but has two vacuum-metallized barrels on his missile launchers.
- Starscream Ghost Version (Deluxe, 2009)
- Accessories: 2 missile launchers (left and right), 2 missiles
- Available only as a mail-away exclusive offered through Transformers Generations 2009 Volume 2 that was released in November 2009, this redeco of Starscream is the second in the character's history to pay homage to his time as a ghost in the third season of the Generation 1 cartoon by casting him almost entirely in traslucent colored plastic. Parts of the figure made in softer plastic, like his thighs, remain opaque.
- Starscream Ghost Version uses the altered version of the Classics Starscream mold that originated with Classics Skywarp and was last seen with Acid Storm (down to the 2006 copyright date stamped on it), rather than the modified version first used on Universe Starscream and the iterations that followed (see below). He has the date K0409 (11/04/2009) etched into the inside of his leg.
Universe (2008)
- Starscream (Legends Class, 2008)
- Series: Classic Series
- The first Universe toy of Starscream is a redeco of Cybertron Legends Thundercracker, transforming into an Su-37 fighter jet.
- This mold was also used to make the Classics Legends-class Jetfire and Universe Silverbolt.
- Starscream (Deluxe Class, 2009)
- Series: Generation 1 Series
- Accessories: Left & right missile launchers, 2 missiles
- Known designers: Andrew Scribner (deco artist)
- The second Universe Starscream toy is a redeco of Classics Starscream, with a considerably lighter gray base color, more vibrant red paint, his face painted in dark gray compared to Classics Starscream's flat gray plastic color for the face and a deco more faithful to Starscream's original Generation 1 toy, very similar to the Henkei! Henkei! release.
- Several minor changes were made to the sculpt for this release: his launcher pegs were widened, and the peg-holes for them on his shoulders and wings were modified in order to accommodate them. His air intakes were further modified (on top of the changes made to the mold for Classics Skywarp) so that the bottom-most rectangle goes completely across the air intake's surface rather than just the center.
- The figure is reported to suffer from heavy quality control issues, most commonly mentioned are the joints and hinges being incredibly weak. As a result, Starscream's wings are difficult to keep in place in robot mode. The elbows, which previously snapped into place when articulated, now slide freely, and the entire hip joint system can be shifted out of alignment.
- This modified version of the mold was used for Henkei! Henkei! Skywarp and Thundercracker.
Alternity
- Known designers: Hironori Kobayashi (TakaraTomy)
- The first transformable Starscream toy not to turn into a jet, Alternity Starscream transforms into a licensed 1:32 scale Mitsuoka Orochi. Like the other toys in the line, he features die-cast metal parts and rubber tires, as well as an opening hood, trunk and doors. This is also the only Alternity mold to feature a fake kibble chest.
- In car mode, small wings are supposed to be able to flip out from under Starscream's rear wheels, giving him the appearance of a flying car. Unfortunately, this gimmick suffers from a rather nasty design flaw: there is simply not enough clearance under the car for the wheels to be able to pass and hinge through, and attempting to do so will result in the plastic reinforcement struts underneath deforming the rims and chipping the tires. His door panels also tend to detach from their ball joints very easily.
- This mold, with a different head sculpt, was also used to make the simultaneously released Alternity Skywarp, and later Thundercracker and Banzai Tron as well.
Transformers (2010)
- Starscream (Legends Class, 2011)
- Known designers: Joe Kyde (Hasbro)
- Released in the first wave of the 2010 Transformers toyline's Reveal the Shield Legends Class toys, Starscream is a new sculpt based on his Generation 1 jet appearance with many fuselage details borrowed from the Masterpiece version. This is the first Starscream in many years to attempt an entirely new transformation for him, with the arms now forming the rear of the jet and the legs folding under the wings. Amusingly, he has two cockpits, with the one that is actually part of his jet mode folding right behind the fake one on his chest in robot mode. Starscream also sports a heat-sensitive rubsign on his starboard (right) wing.
- Early specimens of the toy released in Asia and at United States retail feature an unpainted gray-plastic helmet, a comparatively rare variant. This variant is the one featured in the Hasbro stock photography, although the stock photo depicting the figure in European packaging has the more common black helmet, as this was the only version ever available at European retail.
- The "Reveal the Shield" Legends figures saw exceedingly limited release at large-scale retail chains in the US. Throughout 2011, they eventually started appearing in discount stores like Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Tuesday Morning, with perhaps the largest and most consistent outlet being Five Below stores.
- This sculpt was also redecoed and retooled to make Chronicle Thundercracker and Skywarp, as well as Generations Thundercracker and Transformers (2014) Skywarp.
- Starscream (Legends Class, 2012)
- Accessories: Two guns (running change variant only)
- The "Reveal the Shield" Legends Class Starscream sculpt in the deco from the first Chronicle EZ Collection wave (see below) was released as a "dollar store" exclusive (available at stores such as Dollar General and Big Lots) in generic 2010 Transformers packaging alongside Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron.
- A later running change variant featured the new tooling originally used for Generations Legends Class Thundercracker, with not only the retooled hands and holes inside his wings compatible with 3mm posts, but also Thundercracker's gun accessories.
Chronicle
- Starscream (EZ Collection, 2011)
- Chronicle Starscream is a redeco of the Legends Class Starscream toy. This version of the figure is nearly identical to the painted helmet variant of the Hasbro release, except the entirety of his head is painted black (making it look strange in F-15 mode) and his heat sensitive symbol is replaced with a tampographed Decepticon symbol on each wing. Like many Japanese "EZ Collection" toys, Starscream was blindpacked.
- Amusingly, the Cross-sell on the box depicts the jet mode's painted black patch as completely unpainted.
Kre-O
- Starscream w/Starscream and Pilot Kreon (2011)
- Set number: 30667
- Pieces: 316
- Kreons: Starscream, Pilot
- Accessories: Seeker arm rifle x2
- Part of the first wave of Kre-O sets, Starscream can be built in either robot or red, white, and blue G1-inspired fighter jet. Although the head is based on G1 Starscream, the body's design, especially the broad body, is similar to movie Starscream. The set comes with a very Generation-1-inspired Starscream Kreon, as well as a human Pilot.
- The Starscream Kreon's helmet has been reused by a metric buttload of other Kreons. (That's 1.1 American buttloads.)
- This set was also available in a Costco-exclusive two-pack with the Prowl kit, which was basically just the two packages shrinkwrapped together.
- Starscream (Custom Kreon, 2013)
- Set number: A6089
- Pieces: 36
- Accessories: Rack, large gun, Seeker arm rifle x2, "Megatron" pistol, large wing pack, curved blade
- Part of the first assortment of "Custom Kreons", this version of Starscream comes with a buildable parts rack on which to hang/store his many many extra pieces. His tampographs are much more heavily-detailed than the original Kreon, based on the original Starscream toy. His "normal" helmet and arm-rifles are chromed, plus he comes with an extra clear-plastic helmet, torso and legs. He also has a pair of extra arms (originally from the Kre-O Battleship aliens), plus a buildable hand-cannon, a pistol modeled after G1 Megatron's gun mode, a buildable wing-pack, and a curved energon blade.
- The cross-sell advertisement from the back of the packaging features a bizarre error: Soundwave is labeled as Starscream.
- Kreon Class of 1984 (Kreon figure set, 2014)
- Set number: B0090
- Voted: Best Frenemies (with Megatron)
- Accessories: Megatron pistol
- This version of Starscream has even more detailed toy-based tampographs than his prior versions. He is still white instead of gray though, despite the set's overall theme of being very 80's-based.
- He was only available in a San Diego Comic-Con 2014 exclusive pack of 30 Kreons dubbed the "Kreon Class of 1984". Remaining stock was to be sold at Hasbro Toy Shop online, only there was no remaining stock after the show.
- Starscream (Battle Changers, 2015)
- Set number: B0717
- Pieces: 75
- Known designers: Evan Brooks (Hasbro)[3]
- Part of the new Battle Changers series, Battle Changers Starscream transforms from a fighter jet into a robot and back without removing any parts! Like all of the Battle Changers, Starscream uses the new hip piece using larger balljoints, as previously used by the Galvatron Kreon from the "Galvatron Factory Battle" set.
- Like his wavemates, he was initially only available in selected Asian countries and Canada. However, the series eventually filtered into the US via "discount" stores like Ross and TJ Maxx.
- Kreon Warriors (Kreon figure set, 2015)
EZ Collection Gum
- Starscream (Candy toy, 2012)
- ID Number: 5
- Release Date: July 30 2012
- Part of the EZ Collection Gum candy toy series made by TakaraTomy A.R.T.S., this Starscream is a redeco of the 2010 Transformers Legends Class toy, including the hand and wing retooling later added for accessories this toy does not come with. While the general colors and layouts are identical to the prior Chronicle Starscream toy, this release is absolutely covered in metallic silver paint, with the red, blue and yellow paints also now in a metallic sheen.
- As per the toyline's name, he comes with a yellow candy-shelled piece of lemony-flavored gum.
Generations
- Starscream (Deluxe, 2012)
- Series / Number: 1 / #010
- Accessories: 2 assault cannons
- Part of the third wave of 2012-onwards Generations Deluxe Class toys, Fall of Cybertron Starscream transforms into a Cybertronian jet fighter. He comes with two spinning, triple-barreled "assault cannons" which can combine to form a larger hand-held weapon that is geared to spin its two triple-barrels together, and resembles the Neutron assault rifle from Fall of Cybertron. Each of the weapon halves features two 5 mm posts, as well as a peg-hole on their hollow sides, while the combined form features another peg-hole at the top, but makes the peg-holes on the hollow sides inaccessible. Starscream features numerous 5mm peg-holes, such as his hands, forearms, lower legs, and wing undersides.
- In an undocumented feature, Starscream's tail-fin is attached via a 5 mm post on its underside, and can be detached to reveal three additional peg-holes, with two of these peg-holes being just the right distance to accommodate the two pegs found on the underside of the combined assault cannons/rifle, with the tail-fin pegging on the rifle's top peg-hole. This allows the weapon to mount on top of the vehicle mode, and store on his back in robot mode.
- He was later redecoed into Fall of Cybertron Skywarp and Thrilling 30 Thundercracker and Skywarp.
- Starscream & Waspinator (Legends Class, 2013)
- Series / Number: 02 / #003
- Accessories: 2 null-ray cannons
- Known designers: Yūya Ōnishi (TakaraTomy)
- Part of the fourth wave of 2012-onwards Generations Legends Class toys, Thrilling 30 Starscream is roughly the same size as a Cyberverse Commander Class toy. Based on a Guido Guidi seeker concept for the first IDW ongoing series, Starscream transforms from a hybrid F-15/F-22 style jet. He features a fold out front landing gear, 5 mm-compatible hands, and back/roof, and has 3 mm-compatible upper arm ports. He comes with two removable null-rays that have both 5 mm and 3 mm pegs.
- Alluding to the Beast Wars episode "Possession", Starscream is partnered with Waspinator, who can transform into a wasp, a robot with 3 mm-compatible hands, and a gun with 5mm handle. He has an autotransformation feature that folds up his wings when his gun barrel is extended.
- This figure was redecoed into Thrilling 30 Acid Storm, Combiner Wars Legends Class Thundercracker, and Combiner Wars Skywarp.
- Armada Starscream (Deluxe Class, 2014)
- Series / Number: 02 / #011
- Accessories: 2 Energon Swords, 2 missiles
- Part of the eighth wave of 2012-onwards Generations Deluxe Class toys, Thrilling 30 "Armada Starscream" is a modern update of the original Armada Starscream figure. He comes with two "Energon Swords" which he holds via 5 mm post, and can fold up and store on his wings. He has numerous Powerlinx plugs on his forearms and turbines. Additionally, his turbines can each fire a missile in either mode via pressure-launch, and can be positioned in robot mode to either face forward or lay flat on his back.
- While his bio paints this toy as Armada Starscream, the included comic by IDW Publishing repurposes this toy as a new body for Generation 1 Starscream in their Robots in Disguise comic book series, debuting it in the issue the figure comes packaged with.

Bot Shots
- Starscream (2012)
- Series: 1
- Number: B002
- Known designers: Hisao Nishimoto (TakaraTomy)
- Fist strength: 640
- Blaster strength: 710
- Sword strength: 240
- Part of the first wave of Bot Shots, Starscream is a teeny little fighter jet very very vaguely like an F-22 Raptor with a spring-loaded automatic transformation to robot mode triggered when his nosecone is pressed. He has a "spinner" in his chest that shows his three attack types and power levels. His head is very much like his classic Generation 1 design.
- This mold was redecoed to make Thundercracker, Acid Storm, Skyquake, Skywarp, and Sunstorm.
- Starscream Launcher (Launcher, 2012)
- Series: 1
- Number: BL004
- Acessories: Harbinger trailer/base/launcher
- Fist strength: 230
- Blaster strength: 590
- Sword strength: 800
- Part of the second wave of Bot Shots launchers, Starscream is redecoed in grey. He comes with a launcher modeled after a jet, which is named the Harbinger in his online bio. The launcher can attach to him like a trailer, or open up into a base mode. Like all the Base-launchers, the weapon on top of it is an homage to a different version of the character it came with. In Starscream's case, it has a gun resembling G1 Starscream's null-Ray laser gun.
- Decepticon Fire Assault Team (Multi-pack, 2013)
- Series: 2
- Number: T018
- Fist strength: 454
- Blaster strength: 386
- Sword strength: 779
- A redeco of the original Starscream mold in red and black, this version of Starscream was available in a five-pack with similar redecos of Megatron, Shockwave, Barricade and Lockdown.
- Starscream Launcher (Launcher, 2013)
- Series: 2
- Number: BL005
- Acessories: Launcher, target
- Fist strength: ??
- Blaster strength: ??
- Sword strength: 456
- Part of the third wave of Series 2 launchers, Starscream was to be a redeco of the Super Bot Skywarp, transforming into a futuristic forward-swept wing fighter jet with two blasters at the front. As a Flip Shot, an impact to the front of his vehicle mode would cause him to flip up when autotransforming. He would be packaged with a launcher and a target. Like many of the Bot Shots from the second year, however, he was cancelled before release.
United
- Seekers: Aces (December 21, 2012)
- Accessories: Left & right launchers, 2 missiles
- United Starscream is a fifth redeco of the Classics Starscream mold, and the first time he is offered with both of his wing mates Thundercracker and Skywarp.
- This version of Starscream is heavily based on his cartoon appearance. He features a light gray (lighter than the Henkei! Henkei! figure), shiny metallic blue paint on most of his blue plastic, an amber cockpit, and shiny metallic red paint on his torso. The paint operations found on the Henkei! Henkei! release were shuffled around for the sake of cartoon accuracy.
EZ Collection
- Starscream (EZ Collection, April 27, 2013)
- ID number: EG07
- This individual release of EZ Collection Starscream is a redeco of the 2010 Transformers Legends Class Starscream toy, and it features light blue paint applications replacing the original dark blue's. However, unlike the Chronicle toy and the vehicle stock photo, his head/cockpit is painted half black, which makes it slightly less glaring in jet mode. Stock photos also depict him having a greener shade of metallic blue.
Generations (Japan)
- Megatron & Starscream (December 28, 2013)
- ID number: TG28
- Accessories: 2 null-ray cannons
- Part of the twelfth wave of Japanese Generations toys, the TakaraTomy release of Generations Legends Class Starscream is a redeco with a number of minor differences in color, most notably a gray nosecone, null-ray cannons and tailfins. He also features different wing stripes and his torso is coated in metallic red and silver paint. Starscream and Waspinator were only available in a two-pack with Megatron and Chop Shop.
- Decepticon Rebel Infiltrator Starscream (Deluxe, 2014)
- Accessories: Two assault cannons (combine to form neutron assault rifle), Path Blaster, two-piece laser cannon (combines to form photon burst rifle), tail-fin
- Packed with the Transformers Generations 2013 guidebook, Generations Rebel Infiltrator Starscream is a Million Publishing mail-away exclusive redeco of the Fall of Cybertron Deluxe Class figure in his classic translucent "ghost" colors, explained in the included comic as a new "cloaking ability," presumably in homage to that displayed by Aligned Starscream in the original game.
- Starscream also comes with three weapons, all molded in opaque plastic but with new black, red and grey decos that resemble Starscream's own – Starscream’s own Neutron Assault Rifle accessories are included, as well as the Path Blaster and Photon burst rifle (using the same mold as the Sling Shock) from Fall of Cybertron Deluxe Class Sideswipe and Shockwave, respectively.

Transformers (2014)
- Starscream (Legion Class, 2014/2017)
- Another release of the Reveal the Shield Legends Class sculpt, this time as an odd mish-mash of prior releases. The tooling is identical to the 2012 release's running change variant, with the retooled hands and holes inside his wings compatible with Cyberverse 3mm pegs, while the deco is nigh-identical the Chronicle release, with the fully-black hemlet making for a weird-looking jet-mode nosecone. The toy also now sports a large "CE" mark on the inside of one of the tailfins and number on the inner right leg, declaring the toy meets European product safety requirements. A later variant replaced the purple Decepticon insignia with black versions.
- Bizarrely, the package art is lifted directly from the Generations Legends Class Starscream/Waspinator two-pack's packaging, whereas the stock photos depicted on the back of the packaging are taken from Reveal the Shield Starscream's packaging and only slightly altered, advertising a "Reveal the Shield" rubsign gimmick the toy doesn't actually have. Meanwhile, Hasbro's official stock photos provided to online retailers (including an in-packaging photo) depict the toy with the null-rays that came with the running change variant of the sculpt's 2012 release, even though the actual toy doesn't include the weapons.
- Legion Class Starscream has been found at Family Dollar and Dollar General stores in the United States. The later version was also released at general retail in Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. This figure was re-released in 2017 in a minor variant of the 2014 version's packaging (including the original product code number and barcode) that now lacked the reference to the non-existing "Reveal the Shield" gimmick.
- Like Bumblebee and Optimus Prime, the black insignia variant of the toy ended up being dumped to some hobby shop dealers in Asia, and even returned to discount stores like Five Below and 99 Cents Only in the US in 2020.
Construct-Bots
- Starscream (Scout, 2013)
- Pieces: 40
- Part of Wave 1 of Construct-Bots Scouts, Starscream can transform into a jet. He has a paint error on his head, with his eyes colored blue instead of red. Also, only the left 1/3 of his helmet painted its proper black, with the rest being left in unpainted gray. Rarely 2/3 of it is black, and if you're lucky, the whole head might be black! Hallelujah!
- The box depicts him with Thundercracker's head, for some odd reason.
- Arsenal Pack Starscream (Scout, 2014)
- Pieces: 47
- Part of the first wave of Construct-Bots Arsenal Pack Scouts, this toy is an update to the original Construct-Bot Starscream that includes 7 new pieces that can be used as weapons.
Hero Mashers
- Starscream (Action Figure, 2014)
- Pieces: 9
- Accessories: Wing-pack
- Part of the first wave of Transformers Hero Mashers basic Action Figures, Starscream is a non-transforming action figure with ratchet-joints, about six inches tall. He has multiple peg-holes all over that can be used to mount any Hero Mashers accessory. As a first-wave figure, he has extra ankle articulation that is not present in later waves (a cut that was made to all Hero Mashers lines, not just the Transformers-branded ones).
- He is designed with a removable head, forearms, thighs, and lower legs, all of which use the same clip-peg/hole joint. This means his pieces can be swapped around in any order, as well as swapped with any other Hero Mashers figure... which includes figures from Marvel Comics, Star Wars, and Jurassic World, meaning you can make some pretty freaky combinations.
- Rather than coming with a (nominally) hand-held weapon accessory, Starscream comes with a wing-pack. Of course, being a Hero Mashers piece, it can be attached anywhere, including being hand-held, and the wings have multiple gun barrels on them, so have a blast.
- His right forearm was redecoed to make Skywarp's arm in the Battle Upgrade Megatron set.
- Starscream's torso sculpt is noticeably similar to that of the Titan Guardian Starscream released at San Diego Comic-Con in 2013.
Bearbrick
- Starscream (2014)
- A special edition Bearbrick released in celebration of the Transformers 30th anniversary, Starscream is a retool of the Bearbrick Optimus Prime/Megatron mold with a new chest and head, transforming from a Bearbrick painted up like himself to a bear-eared robot. He has no accessories, but holes in his robot mode hands can accommodate other toys' weapons.
- The chest used for this mold was also used to make the simultaneously released Bearbrick Bumblebee. This mold with the alternate chest was also used to make Nemesis Prime.
Q-Transformers
- Starscream (September 19, 2015)
- ID number: QT-29
- Q-Transformers Starscream transforms from a super deformed F-15 to a cute chubby little robot.
- This mold was also used, with slightly retooled facial expressions, for Q-Transformers Thundercracker and Skywarp, and given a whole new head for Jetfire.
- Decepticons 3-Figure Set (2016)
- ID number: QTFS-03
- During the second Q-Transformers series, the Starscream toy was available in a three-pack alongside Skywarp and Thundercracker. He is identical to the original Q-Transformers toy.
- Clear Starscream (January 30, 2016)
- Clear Starscream is a clear plastic redeco of the original Q-Transformers mold given away at Toys"R"Us stores with purchases of 5 or more Q-Transformers toys, and was limited to 3000 pieces. In the announcement for the toy, Starscream himself points out its resemblance to the "ghost mode" he's always getting toys of.
Timelines
- G2 Starscream (TFSS 3.0, 2015)
- Accessories: 2 null-ray cannons (left and right), 2 missiles
- This Timelines "G2 Starscream" toy is a redeco of Classics Starscream in his Generation 2 colors. It is part of the Transformers Collectors' Club Figure Subscription Service 3.0.

Platinum Edition
- Supreme Starscream (2014)
- Accessories: Missile, "Crown of Leadership", Decepticon Cybertron Cyber Key, Gold Earth Cyber Planet Key
- Platinum Edition "Supreme Starscream" is a redeco of Cybertron Supreme Class Starscream in Generation 1-inspired colors. He retains all the gimmicks from the previous toy. Batteries for activating the gimmick are not included.
Combiner Wars
- Starscream (Leader Class, 2015)
- Accessories: Missile launcher, missile, 2 arm cannons, 2 leg cannons, 2 "Seeker guns", crown
- Starscream is a redeco of Combiner Wars Leader Class Thundercracker, itself a retool of Thrilling 30 Jetfire. He transforms from a robot into a jet fighter, and includes a missile launcher and four limb-mounted weapons, two guns based on the traditional Seeker arm rifles, and the infamous crown based on the equally infamous coronation scene from The Transformers: The Movie, which fits around his head. He also features a faux cockpit.
- Starscream does not include the original Jetfire mold's "Turbo Thruster" booster pack accessory, but is still compatible with it.
- This mold was redecoed into Skywarp.
Cyber Series
- Starscream (Cyber Battalion, 2015)
- Accessories: 2 null-ray rifles
- Released in the first wave of Generations: Cyber Series Cyber Battalion figures, Starscream is a Voyager-sized figure intended to be sold at a cheaper price point. Starscream features a transformation similar to his Generations Legends Class counterpart. Undocumented in the instructions and as shown in the packaging art, Starscream's rifles can be attached underneath his wings and his robot mode arms.
- Unfortunately, the figure did not get distribution in the United States, but has been reported showing up in Asian markets and was also solicited to South America. Toy importers did stock this series in a limited capacity and they sold out quickly in 2015 and effectively disappeared at that time. In 2016, the Cyber Battalion Starscream figure (along with Cyber Battalion Optimus Prime and Bumblebee) saw release in the Universal Studios Theme Park, and finally ended up being turned into a Walgreens exclusive.
- This mold was retooled to make Cyber Series Jetfire.
- Bumblebee / Starscream (Heroes & Villains, 2021)
- In 2021, the Cyber Series Batallion Bumblebee and Starscream figure were reissued as a 2-pack exclusive to Amazon.com.
Unite Warriors
- Grand Galvatron (giftset, April 30, 2016)
- ID number: UW-06
- Accessories: Double-barreled blaster, hand/foot/gun
- Known designers: Hisashi Yuki (TakaraTomy)
- Unite Warriors "Ghost Starscream" is a new-head retooling of Combiner Wars Deluxe Class Skydive, transforming into a made-up fighter jet that looks to be based on an F/A-18 Hornet. Like so many other "ghost" Starscream figures, he is cast almost completely in translucent plastics.
- As a Deluxe-sized Unite Warriors figure, he can form the leg or arm of any Combiner Wars-style Combiner or into one of Legends Godbomber's legs, but is normally associated with Grand Galvatron. As such, his large (non-firing) double-missile-launcher accessory can convert into either a hand or foot for combiner forms.
- He was sold in an TakaraTomy Mall exclusive giftset of Grand Galvatron along with Tactician Cyclonus, Curse Armada Thrust, Zombie War Breakdown, and Wandering Roller.
- This tooling of the mold was also used to make Combiner Wars Shattered Glass Starscream and served as the model for Shattered Glass Thundercracker and Skywarp in "Epilogue Two".

Alt-Modes
- Starscream (Alt-Modes, 2016)
- Series: 1, 2
- Collection: 1, 2, 3 (Series 1), 1 (Series 2)
- Alt-Modes Starscream is a super deformed toy whose body transforms into a jet when the Decepticon faction symbol on his head is flipped. He was blind-boxed and available in all four cases of the toyline.
- This mold was redecoed into Alt-Modes Skywarp, Thundercracker, Acid Storm and Sunstorm, and would have been retooled into Dirge.
Power of the Primes
- Starscream (Voyager Class, 2018)
- TakaraTomy ID number: PP-19
- TakaraTomy release date: July 28, 2018
- Accessories: Two null-rays, 2 Prime Armor/combiner feet, Seeker Enigma
- Known designers: John Warden (Hasbro)
- Power of the Primes Starscream transforms from a robot that utilizes the Evergreen-styled design into a fighter jet. He also features some markings on his jet mode: an Autobot kill count on the right side of the cockpit, and a Decepticon symbol with the number "D-22" (a reference to Starscream's Japanese ID number). Starscream can also form the torso of an unnamed combiner using any selection of Combiner Wars-style Deluxe Class figures as limbs. His instructions and TakaraTomy stock photos depict him with the Power of the Primes Deluxe Class figures from Wave 1. He also includes Prime Armor that can hold a Prime Master (and by extension, a Titan Master, Enigma, or Matrix core) and can turn into feet for said unnamed combiner. The silhouette of Starscream's torso mode appears to homage the robot mode of another Starscream. Like all the other Voyager Class figures, Starscream includes an Enigma of Combination (dubbed the Seeker Enigma), based on a Prime Master, which can attach to Starscream via the previously mentioned Prime Armor or the combined mode chest, which can also facilitate the other previously mentioned objects.
- Though designated for a first quarter 2018 release, Starscream's wave reached U.S. store shelves in December 2017.
- There are several reports of the peg that connects the wings often refusing to connect well. In 2018, a running change was made in the re-release of the toy: the peg that connects between the wings and the robot back has been retooled to connect firmly. The only way to identify this running change is the code "73101" stamped onto the box.
- Starscream was later retooled into Elita-1.
Legends
- Octone (Octane) (December 30, 2017)
- ID number: LG57
- Legends Ghost Starscream is a semi transparent redeco/retool of Titans Return Titan Master Nightbeat, featuring a new faceplate. His Headmaster form is designed to invoke the look of his ghost form. He comes as an accessory with Octone, homaging "Starscream's Ghost" with the aforementioned transparency. The stock photography shows that, in order to differentiate him in control of the body from Octone, the shoulder and head pylons should both be moved up instead of leaving them down. This might be an attempt to replicate Starscream's iconic shoulder pylons and head embellishments.

Authentics
- Decepticon Starscream (Bravo Class, 2017)
- Accessories: Two null-rays
- Known designers: Emiliano Santalucia (concept artist)
- Released in the first wave of Authentics smaller Bravo Class figures, "Decepticon Starscream" is the size of a 2015 Robots in Disguise Battle Pack toy, and changes from an evergreen-inspired robot into a jet in just six steps. He comes with two null-rays that can attach to his arms or under his wings. His transformation is nigh-identical to his Thrilling 30 Legends class toy.
- Amusingly, the Decepticon symbol on his chest is ridiculously tiny, to the point where it's little more than a purple triangle.
- Starscream (Titan Changer, 2020)
- Accessories: Two null-rays
- Released in the second wave of Authentics Titan Changers, Starscream transforms from a long, flat robot into a long, flat jet. He comes with two null-rays that can either be pegged onto his upper arms, in his fists, or under his jet mode wings. In 2024, he was repackaged with no changes as his One incarnation for the Transformers One toyline.
- Starscream (Alpha Class, 2023)
- Accessories: Two null-rays
- Released in the sixth wave of Authentics Alpha Class figures, "Decepticon Starscream" is a Voyager-sized figure that changes from robot to jet in 8 steps. Unlike other Alpha Class figures with Bravo Class counterparts, Starscream has completely different engineering and sculpting, rather than being an upscale of the smaller toy. He includes two Null-rays that can attach to his shoulders. He requires mild assembly out of box, as his wings need to be attached to his fuselage.
- The figure is rather back heavy and lacks proper heels, so his robot mode is very unstable and hard to make stand upright.
- He is slightly mistransformed in his stock photography, as his legs are not fully extended.
- Starscream (2024)
- Released as an Amazon exclusive, the Cyberverse Warrior Class "Cybertronian Mode" Starscream toy was reissued with no changes as part of an Authentics-branded 3-pack with similarly unchanged versions of Warrior Class Shockwave and Soundwave.
Golden Lagoon
- Starscream (October 2018)
- Hasbro ID number: GL-02
- Accessories: Blaster, Prime Armor/combiner hand, Prime Master gap filler/gun
- Golden Lagoon Starscream is a gold and gold chrome redeco of Unite Warriors Starscream in homage of the original cartoon episode of the same name. In exchange for the gun/fist/foot accessory of his original release, Starscream comes with the Power of the Primes Prime Armor that originally came with Dreadwind. The Prime Armor has a place for a Prime Master (or Enigma, or Matrix core) and can transform into a hand for a Combiner. He also comes with a piece that can fill the gap in the chest armor or be held by Starscream as a gun. He was released by TakaraTomy Mall and in Cybertron Satellite stores as part of TakaraTomy's celebration of the brand's 35th anniversary. In 2019, he also saw an official release in Australia, where he was available from Mr Toys Toyworld.
- This toy also appeared in the Generations Selects Special Comic as a member of the Golden Age, who may or may not be named "Starscream", while the Combiner hand/Prime Armor was repurposed as the Matrix Gauntlet used by Yellow Splendid Convoy.

Vintage G1
- Starscream (Walmart exclusive reissue, 2018)
- Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, 2 null-rays, 2 cluster bombs, left & right wings, left & right tail fins, left & right tail wings, landing gear, two-piece gun mode Megatron
- The original Starscream toy was reissued as a Walmart exclusive in 2018, under the Vintage G1 label, using the version of the mold from The Transformers Collection release, complete with a Megatron gun. However, he still retains the elongated null-rays and cluster bombs from the Commemorative Series release. His eyes have also been painted gold rather than using the old terrible sticker across the bridge of his nose. His rubsign is an all-new type used on all of the Vintage G1 toys; the insignia only turns red rather than the mood-ring multicolor of older rubsigns, plus the silver border is mirror-level reflective.
War for Cybertron: Siege
- Starscream (Voyager Class, 2019)
- Known designers: Aaron Gray (Hasbro), Yūya Ōnishi (TakaraTomy), AJ Piejko-Brown (packaging)
- Part of the second wave of Siege Voyager Class figures, Starscream transforms from a heavily G1-inspired robot into a Cybertronian 'tetrajet' based on the Seekers' appearance in "More than Meets the Eye, Part 1", although the jet mode has
the robot-mode legspretty much his entire robot body sticking out from the undercarriage. He includes two "HPI Null-Ray Laser Launchers," which can mount on his upper arms or under the wings in jet mode (or in any other 5 mm port, really). As part of the Siege C.O.M.B.A.T. System, Starscream has 5 mm ports on his biceps, forearms, shins, under his feet (vehicle-mode thrusters), and wings. The 3 mm pegs on his shins, forearms, left bicep, and the tips of his null-rays can accommodate effects parts (sold separately). Similar to his wavemate Soundwave, Starscream is absolutely slathered in battle damage paint — it's heavily present on his legs, chest, forearms, and the entirety of his jet form.
- Like the rest of Siege, his robot mode focuses on articulation, with double-jointed elbows, knees that bend at nearly 180 degrees, ankle rockers, and especially waist articulation being notable articulation points for a Starscream toy. As an interesting design addition, he also has spring-loaded panels in his lower legs to avoid hollow gaps when viewed from the back. As a rather heavy shellformer, Starscream can easily be separated into both a wingless robot mode and a nearly complete tetrajet via a single friction hinge.
- Speaking of friction hinges, the initial release of Starscream suffers from a production flaw: his robot-mode chest easily pops off during transformation as a result of a late design change that removed a pin from the chest without adjusting plastic tolerances. Said initial releases also use the live-action "angry eyes" design for his Decepticon insignia. One or both errors were corrected for later wave shipments; both were fixed by the time the figure shipped again with Voyager Class Springer. While the pin wasn't added back in, the plastic used for the grey strut the chest piece attaches to uses a stiffer plastic that is less likely to cause it to pop off.
- Amusingly, the panel on his instruction sheet that demonstrates where to attach C.O.M.B.A.T. weapons depicts him mistransformed, with his left forearm opened along the transformation hinge. He is also slightly mistransformed in-package, with his arms rather adorably left unextended and the panel behind the head not being locked in place between the shoulder pylons.
- The original figure eventually became a notorious shelfwarmer, due to him being reissued in the third wave and coincidentally around the time that the Earthrise figure was revealed at NYCC 2019.

War for Cybertron: Earthrise
- Starscream (Voyager Class, 2020)
- Known designers: Shogo Hasui (TakaraTomy)
- Released as part of the Earthrise Voyager Class lineup, this version of Starscream is a cartoon-accurate mold. He transforms into an F-15 jet based on his traditional alternate mode and features a pair of G1-accurate null-rays. His design and transformation scheme is heavily based on his 2006 Classics figure while adding points of articulation the earlier figure did not have such as pivoting ankles, a more expressive ball-jointed head, and hinges that allow the wings to fold backward in robot mode.
- The stock renders have some minor differences from the prototype seen at New York Comic Con. The renders depict the section of his chest that covers part of his cockpit as being unpainted red. At the same time, the prototype has it painted a more animation-accurate white, also present on renders featuring Smashdown, and four null-rays on his Jet mode, with two of them attached at the turbines of his chest, which is impossible to do on the toy. The render also depicts his shoulder joints as being molded in blue and knee joints in white, whereas the prototype has their colors swapped.
- While the null-rays can be wielded by his pair of hands, it's almost impossible for him to properly hold them due to the size of his forearms. He still can hold the Megatron gun from the Selects Centurion Droid very finely, though.
- At least one copy features a factory misassembled figure with a newly tooled head sculpt[4] (with his expression being based on him being disintegrated by Galvatron in The Transformers: The Movie) which was meant for Skywarp.
- Like all Earthrise toys, the inside of the back of Starscream's package includes an exclusive clip-and-save piece of a larger star map. Also in the box is a thin red piece of transparent plastic with which to read markings on the map. Unusually for a larger Earthrise toy, Starscream's piece of the map does not contain the labeled location of a named planet; however, it does include an unlabeled image of the planet Jupiter, slightly obscured by another smaller sphere. It also shows a sliver of Cybertron, one of several planets too big for one map piece.
- Both this release and all subsequent releases of the mold have a missing molded panel-line detail on the right wing hinge that is supposed to curve in towards the body of the jet. The reason for this missing detail is likely due to it missing from the metal mold itself.

War for Cybertron: Kingdom
- Starscream (Core Class, 2021)
- Kingdom Core Class Starscream is a roughly Legends-sized toy that can interact with Titan Class figures, although its product description states that it is designed to pose with larger Starscream toys. The mold's sculpting is heavily inspired by its larger Earthrise counterpart, though featuring a gray pelvis instead of a red one and having the underside of Starscream's wings facing forward. Starscream comes with his signature weapons—a pair of null-rays, which can either be plugged into his arms or held as handguns.
- The peg holes featured on Starscream's shoulders are hexagonal as opposed to circular, which means that the Null Rays are prone to popping off when rotated onto that peg hole.
- Most (if not, all) copies of the figure had the lower right leg's sculpted details being too slightly shallow compared to the left leg's.
- Obviously, this figure was redecoed for both Legacy Core Class Skywarp and Thundercracker.
- Starscream (Voyager Class,
2021)- Hasbro ID number: WFC-K36
- Accessories: 2 null-rays
- In mid-2021, store listings for a package refresh of the Earthrise Voyager Class Starscream were found on the Amazon Australia website.[5] Given the ID of the figure, Starscream was presumably meant to be a casemate for Kingdom Tigatron and was to ship in Wave 4. However, this release was scrapped, likely due to a retool of the same mold being released in the Studio Series toyline instead.

- As part of the fourth wave of TakaraTomy's Premium Finish subline, Starscream is a detailed redeco of the Siege mold, featuring a slightly darker gray plastic, and more paint applications that represent his appearance in Transformers: War for Cybertron: Siege and with the same weapons as the aforementioned mold.
- Sadly, the unpaintable parts used on the joints are prone to Photodegradation.

Studio Series
- Coronation Starscream (Leader Class, 2022)
- TakaraTomy name: Starscream Shin Hakai Taitei
- Movie: The Transformers: The Movie
- Hasbro ID number: 86-12
- TakaraTomy ID number: SS-76
- TakaraTomy release date: April 30, 2022
- Accessories: 2 null-rays, 2 null-rays (Coronation), cape, crown, throne, "All Hail Starscream" backdrop
- Known designers: Evan Brooks (Hasbro), Tomoki Tatsumi (TakaraTomy), Mario Carreiro, Christina Murphy and Amy Bence (packaging),[6] Felipe Hamame (instruction designer), Marcelo Matere (packaging artist)
- Part of the 8th wave of Studio Series Leader Class toys, "Coronation Starscream" is a retool of the Earthrise Starscream above, with newly-molded hands with hinged knuckles, the coronation gear from The Transformers: The Movie, a second pair of null-rays, and the Nemesis command chair from "More than Meets the Eye, Part 1." The toy lacks the paint applications on his tail fins and the gunmetal grey below and above his shin vents, but adds additional grey squares to his jet mode for closer accuracy to the movie. Additionally, various colors are a slightly different shade (red is more crimson, helmet is more gunmetal, blue is more electric) and the Decepticon sigils on his wings are larger. Strangely, the pins on the legs of the Earthrise version have been swapped out for screws. Because of how the index-to-pinky fingers are designed, it results in a rather strange-looking fist when closed.
- The cape is sculpted plastic that is hinged to flair out like the Masterpiece MP-11 toy above, however the cape cannot flare up to a 90 degree angle without clashing against the ground. it also has a C.O.M.B.A.T. System-style 5 mm post, allowing anyone compatible to have a lavender cape. The shoulder pads feature flip-down panels with a 5 mm port to attach the differently-molded null-rays, designed to fit with the new armor pieces. By coincidence or design, these additional null-rays can fit into his new hands (if they are completely closed) without bumping into the forearms like the original pair. Naturally, these add-ons, barring the Coneheads for the crown, fit other versions of the Earthrise Seeker mold, so have fun!
- The "throne" features storage on the back for all the accessories, including multiple 5 mm ports. Starscream himself can only barely sit in it (without the cape on, of course), but the more source-appropriate Siege Megatron toy fits in very nicely.
- Like all other uses of the mold, Starscream has a missing molded panel-line detail on the right wing hinge that is supposed to curve in towards the body of the jet. The reason for this missing detail is likely due to it missing from the metal mold itself.
- Starscream proved to be a notorious shelfwarmer in 2022 & 2023, owing to being a repack of the widely-distributed Earthrise figure at a higher price with a few more accessories, as well as being ordered in bulk. Not helping matters was the fact he got repacked in the following wave containing Sludge.
- First revealed on the August 13th, 2021 Fan First Friday, the toy is the first to show off the Leader Class window-less packaging, starting in 2022, which allows for expanded package art. The package art faithfully emulates Starscream's coronation in the movie down to Ramjet standing in the background to Starscream's left, but Thrust is present instead of Astrotrain on Starscream's right. Like the other Studio Series toys, the interior of the package forms a display backdrop. Starscream's backdrop depicts the Hall of Heroes, where his ill-fated coronation took place.

War for Cybertron Trilogy
- Behold, Galvatron! Unicron Companion Pack (Leader Class, 2022)
- War for Cybertron Trilogy Starscream is a non-transforming and immobile minifigure, barely 10mm tall, scaled to interact with the immense HasLab Unicron figure and its clear display base. This was one of a set of 14 minifigures in the "Unicron Companion Pack" that was included with the "reformatting" version of Galvatron. The set was exclusive to Hasbro Pulse.
Transformers Retro
- Starscream (Walmart exclusive reissue/redeco, 2023)
- Accessories: Left & right fists, 2 missile launchers, 2 null-rays, 2 cluster bombs, left & right wings, left & right tail fins, left & right tail wings, landing gear, two-piece gun mode Megatron
- Known designers: Marcelo Matere (packaging artist)
- Walmart once again reissued the original Starscream toy in 2023 under the Transformers Retro label. Unlike the Vintage G1 release, however, Retro Starscream has been redecoed in colors inspired by his appearance in the original Transformers animated series, more specifically The Transformers: The Movie. He remains a mash-up of the Commemorative Series and The Transformers Collection reissues, with the former's elongated null rays and cluster bombs and the latter's gun mode Megatron accessory.
- Unlike the original versions of his fists from The Transformers Collection reissue, the fists of this version are cast in black plastic and painted blue. The added paint makes the post on the bottom of his fists thicker than they should be, so attaching the lower portion of the Megatron gun can be difficult.
- The box features original art by Marcelo Matere[7] of Starscream with Earthrise-inspired detailing in robot and vehicle mode laid over a scene of Autobot City.
- Transformers Retro Starscream was announced and went up for preorder on October 6, 2022 as part of Walmart's Collector Con event.
Classic Heroes Team
- Starscream (All Star Rescan, 2023)
- Known designers: Marcelo Matere (packaging artist)
- Classic Heroes Team Starscream is a retool of the Rescue Bots VTOL jet version of Bumblebee and converts from robot mode to jet in one step. He features articulation at his elbows.
Legacy
- Starscream (Core Class, 2023)
- Accessories: 2 Null Rays
- As part of Transformers: Legacy's sixth wave of Core Class figures (under the Evolution subline imprint), this release of Starscream is a package refresh of the above Kingdom Core Class Starscream, with no notable differences other than the box.
Beast Wars Again
- ID number: BWVS-08
- Accessories: 2 rifles
- Known designers: Hisashi Yuki (TakaraTomy), Hidetsugu Yoshioka (packaging artist)
- Released as part of the Beast Wars Again line, the "Phantom Showdown" (幽幻の対決) set pits "Haunted Waspeeter" against "Ghost Starscream", a redeco of the Earthrise Starscream mold (with the hinged knuckles used for the Studio Series '86 figure and the pre-tooled alternate head released with Skywarp) in mostly translucent plastic. Starscream also features red Decepticon insignia on his wings, in reference to the odd color choices used for his character model in the Beast Wars episode "Possession".
- All of the parts that were originally cast in unpaintable plastic remain cast in opaque colors, as the unpaintable parts are required for the figure to function. This ultimately means that the full transparent "ghost" effect suffers as a result of the mold layout, since the parts that make up his biceps, forearms and hands are also a part of the unpaintable plastic molds.

Reactivate
- Starscream & Bumblebee (2024)
- Accessories: 2 blasters
- Known designers: Lenny Panzica (Hasbro), Ittoku Kuwazu (TakaraTomy)[8]
- Reactivate Starscream transforms into a post-apocalyptic jet fighter. He comes with a pair of blasters, which can be mounted onto his wrists. Starscream was only available with Bumblebee. Care should be taken when unclipping Starscream's head during transformation, as it latches in place for robot mode with a very small, but very secure hook that will bend or break under pressure.
- This boxset was abruptly revealed by Toys"R"Us Canada on October 18, 2023, after nearly ten months of silence regarding the upcoming Transformers: Reactivate online game. Notably, stock photography of the box and the official product copy used "Rise", an earlier name for the game; Yet it was changed when it was shown off on the Hasbro Pulse Fanstream.
Dramatic Capture Series
- Triple Takeover (2025)
- Release date: March 2025
- Accessories: 2 null-rays, 2 null-rays (Coronation), cape, crown
- Released a part of the Dramatic Capture Series line by TakaraTomy, this Starscream is a redeco of Coronation Starscream with all of the accesories included (sans the throne) in more Generation 1 cartoon-accurate colors.
- Starscream is packaged with Astrotrain and Blitzwing.
Notes
- During the development of the Coneheads, Ramjet was initially planned as new wing tooling attached to an unchanged Starscream body. This prototype plan lasted long enough to receive package art, which was published decades later in Legacy: The Art of Transformers Packaging.
- In the 1990s, Hasbro evidently had more redeco plans for Starscream (and the paired Ramjet) that fell through:
- A hand-painted mock-up and accompanying artwork for a proposed Generation 2-era redeco of Starscream appeared in auctions on eBay, amongst similar items put up for sale from the collection of a former Hasbro employee. In 2020, this black redeco of Starscream was revealed to have been labeled by Hasbro as "Blackout". Said redeco was probably planned for release alongside the Ramjet redeco named "Sandstorm".
- Another unproduced redeco of Starscream for the Generation 2 line was found in 2007, in an auction on eBay. It is commonly known to the fandom as "jungle attack Starscream" (as seen to the right). It is unclear if it was intended to be another Starscream toy or a new character; it may have been paired for release with "cloud camo Ramjet", who was discovered at a similar level of "completion".
- During early planning for Beast Wars, Hasbro conceived McDonald's toys of vehicular Auto Rollers, including one of Starscream as a jet.[9] This toy concept may have been a parallel idea to the unreleased Generation 2 jet Auto Roller ultimately used in Japan as Beast Wars II Autojetter.
- Aside from Starscream's Unite Warriors Deluxe Class toy (as the alternate head of Combiner Wars Skydive) and his Power of the Primes Voyager Class toy (as his own body tooling), Hasbro also designed an unused combining body for Starscream as the "pretooled" alternate head of Combiner Wars Voyager Class Cyclonus. Presumably, the Galvatronus Combiner head would be redecoed in homage to Starscream's famous crown.
