"Please, Mister Designer was my father."

Evan Brooks is a designer and cat dad at Hasbro currently working on the Generations mega-brand. He generally takes point on the "86" imprint of the Studio Series toyline and similar Generation 1 cartoon style product. While his fastidious attention to detail may make him the design team's go-to "cartoon accuracy guy," it should not be mistaken for base geewunnery. Some of the multitudes he contains include Studio Series' High Moon-heavy Gamer Edition imprint, a litany of deep cut exclusives based on IDW Publishing's beloved run of comics, and, when truly left to his own devices, huge immaculate reproductions of headliners from TakaraTomy's veritable Silmarillion of Japan-exclusive extra seasons. Please don't yell at him about Soundwave's shins, he is doing his best.

Evan grew up near Cincinnati, Ohio, and went to the Columbus College of Art and Design.

Outside of the Transformers office, he has been known to pitch in on Hasbro's other TakaraTomy collabs on the Zoids and Beyblade franchises as part of his overall "Japanese Brands" remit. He was previously a member of the Kre-O team back when that was a thing.

As of 2024 Evan has inherited the position of "movie tie-in guy" from departing Design Manager Sam Smith and is thus the de facto creative lead overall for the Studio Series toyline.[1]

The birthday boy hard at work.
  • Brooks has a pretty respectable Transformers collection himself, and his display shelves provide a regular background and occasional source of figure comparisons in his livestream appearances.
  • According to fellow designer and fellow Transformers nerd Mark Maher, Brooks was personally responsible for the noticeable pivot to deep cuts in the Kre-O Micro-Changers line.[8]
  • Evan uses a Siege Hound as his "special scale little boy" to trot out as a yard stick when presenting his various HasLab behemoths.[9]
