An exosuit (or exo-suit) is form of powered armor used by humans and other humanoids. They are typically used to protect the wearer from hostile environments such as the vacuum of space, deep underwater, or the middle of a battle between warring factions of giant robots. Many models possess arm blasters, thrusters and the ability to transform into a vehicle mode, giving the user a leg up when dealing with Decepticons.

Daniel's first driving lesson.

Spike Witwicky wore an exosuit while on Moonbase Two with Bumblebee. Later, Arcee gave Daniel Witwicky one of his father's exosuits that was stored aboard the forward section of the shuttle they escaped Autobot City in. This model was able to transform into an all-terrain vehicle. Daniel used this suit to escape Shrapnel and Scavenger on planet Junkion, and later was able to save his father along with Bumblebee, Jazz, and Cliffjumper from Unicron. The Transformers: The Movie

When Daniel was with a group of Autobots who were on their way to stop the mind-controlled zombie of Optimus Prime, he wore his exosuit as a spacesuit. This was fortunate, as it protected him from the vacuum of space when their shuttle was destroyed en route to the Autobot flagship. Dark Awakening

A similar suit was worn by Jessica Morgan when she accompanied Optimus Prime and the Autobots to planet Chaar to retrieve an experimental metal alloy from Galvatron. Despite the suits being equipped to allow humans to survive in space, it was not able to keep Jessica from being infected with the Hate Plague The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 2

Later on the planet Nebulos, both the Decepticons and Autobots converted their heads and weapons into new types of exosuits for the Nebulan Hivemembers, and resistance fighters respectively, binary bonding to the Transformers to become Headmasters and Targetmasters. Although all the Nebulan suits were considered exosuits, only Daniel's, which bonded with Arcee, resembled the classical model seen earlier. He asked for an exosuit, but was told that it would be destroyed by Metamorphose's metal-warping field. Approach of the Demon Meteorite

The exosuits were used by Daniel and Spike when they walked on Mars for a survey mission. The Autobot symbol on Daniel's exosuit was used to alert his father of his location in a Decepticon cell. Explosion on Mars!! Maximus Is in Danger

Daniel again donned an exosuit when he accompanied Highbrow to a derelict ship in space. His exosuit sported a holster for his Challenge Blaster, which he made good use of during the mission. Mystery of the Space Pirate Ship

When Chromedome headed off to fight Sixshot, Daniel put on his exosuit so he could try to make them both stop, as he'd befriended the Decepticon. Using the suit's vehicle mode, he followed Chromedome to the asteroid Juno and interceded in the fight, only for the whole thing to be called off anyway when Scorponok decided to blow up the asteroid. Duel on the Asteroid

He wore his exosuit once again when the Autobots took him to the Arctic and he took part in the battle to save Earth from the Decepticons' Death Towers. The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 2)

The Headmasters comic

When the Headmasters faced a robot squid beneath the ocean, Daniel put on his exosuit so he could help them fight it. The Headmasters #3 He used it again in a fight with Sixshot, only to be inadvertently carried on the Decepticon's back to an alien planet. Whups! The Headmasters #4

In his research into technology that would allow humans to wield Masterforce, Fortress devised an exosuit that could transform into the head of a transtector and let Spike test pilot it. Train Wars

Years later, Daniel acquired a new model of exosuit that let him disguise himself as a Transformer and transform into an electrical bow or pantograph for his partner, Shouki. Train Wars: Shouki & Daniel Chapter He used it to disguise himself as the pilot of the Thunder Arrow, then let Shouki wield its bow mode against Kickback. Train Wars Daniel used the exosuit's weapons in the battle with The Fallen, though they only served to anger him, and Shouki used its bow mode again to free a restrained Shūta Gō. Train Wars 2

Verity Carlo wore an exosuit. It was modular so she could wear just the arms Last Stand of the Wreckers #1 or legs without having to put the whole thing on. The lower legs could transform into wheels. She put the whole exosuit on when she stowed away for the mission to Garrus-9. Last Stand of the Wreckers #2 It didn't stop her ride in Pyro's chest cavity from being distinctly uncomfortable though. Last Stand of the Wreckers #3 Also the arms contained telescoping cannons. As a reward for capturing Doc Brown, Einstein, Lorraine and George McFly, Biff Tannen was given an exosuit with which to execute them. Before Biff could fire, the Autobots attacked, a blast from Rodimus Prime disabling the suit's weapons. Though Biff was quick to claim the alpha-wave ionic nullifier as a substitute, Einstein was just as quick to knock it free and into Marty McFly's grasp. Opening fire on Biff, the exosuit was disabled and sent falling into a waste bin. Transformers/Back to the Future #3

"Fire me, boy!"
  • Bumblebee & Spike Witwicky (2021)
As part of the cross-Generations Buzzworthy Bumblebee subline, War for Cybertron Trilogy Spike Witwicky is a very simple figure packed in with the Core Class Bumblebee figure. Spike is depicted in his traditional exosuit from The Transformers: The Movie. The figure is capable of turning into car mode via a simple transformation scheme, which primarily consists of just laying the toy down on its face. He has a vestigial pin hole molded through his hips, hinting that he was intended to have leg articulation at one point, but was eventually changed during development.
Much like the rest of the Buzzworthy Bumblebee toys, the box is in the style of the 2018 Bumblebee toyline, with additional renders of the evergreen Bumblebee design. Additionally, the toy features Kingdom-style package art with the War for Cybertron logo present.

JAKE SUIT!
  • Noah Díaz Exo-Suit (Core Class, 2023)
  • Accessories: Blaster, jetpack
Released as part of the eighth wave of the Studio Series Core Class lineup, "Noah Díaz Exo-Suit" transforms into a human-sized plane despite the suit not having an alternate mode in the film. He also comes with a blaster that can be wielded by him, or mounted under the nosecone of his alternate mode. If one chooses, the plane kibble can be detached from Noah for a more screen-accurate appearance. As the toy could not depict Anthony Ramos' likeness, the exo-suit's faceplate is instead based on a concept art design which is in turn based on the glowing Y-shaped design on Mirage's robot mode chest.

Merchandise

Brave-Goukin

BraveGoukin exosuit.jpg
  • Excel Suit (2014)
A poseable "Excel Suit" toy was to be produced by CM's Corporation as part of their Brave-Goukin line, complete with vehicle mode and transforming arm blasters. It would have included static figures of Spike and Daniel Witwicky who could be displayed separately or have their heads placed inside the suit, with alternate upward-looking heads included for the vehicle mode. The Exosuit would also have come with a small figurine of Grand Galvatron and the Master Sword data disk from the Headmasters episode "The Master Sword Is in Danger!!".
This toy only made as far as the painted prototype stage before CM's Corporation was forced to file for bankruptcy, leaving it unreleased.
