Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions |

Also known as: Fainaru Fantajī Takutikusu Shishi Sensō (JP) This game has unused items. |
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions is an enhanced port of a legendary strategy RPG in the vein of Tactics Ogre. Several additions were made to this version, including new full-motion videos, two new classes, over 30 new items, two new guest NPCs from related titles, a much larger playfield, and slower, more-strategic combat.
Oh, and it got a Game of Thrones-style retranslation and full portability.

Dummy Items
To do: See if these items are any different in the Japanese version. |
There are 59 new items (starting at $100) in the item chart for this version of the game, but only 39 of them are used. The other 20 are placeholders which have no stats or descriptions, sell for 5 Gil, and serve no purpose other than to fill space. Curiously, their names were left untranslated and display in Japanese (complete with wider numbers) regardless of region.
- Item 278 through Item 287 (hex values $116 to $11F) are grouped into weapons. All of them are One-Handed weapons which cannot be Double-Handed or Dual Wielded. Equipping them before or during a battle will crash the game, presumably due to not having any associated graphics (placeholder or otherwise).
- Item 290 and Item 291 ($122, $123) are grouped into shields. Just like the "weapons", equipping these "shields" for battle will crash the game. Interestingly, these items can be equipped by classes that don't normally use shields.
- Item 296 through Item 299 ($128 to $12B) are grouped into helmets.
- Item 307 and Item 308 ($132, $133) are grouped into armor.
- Item 314 and Item 315 ($13A, $13B) are grouped into accessories.
- Trying to access the nonexistent item 316 ($13C) doesn't return an empty slot, unlike items 254 ($FE) and 255 ($FF). Rather, it immediately crashes the game as the item table only goes up to 315.
While all of them lack a proper icon when equipped, they use part of the "Move" and "Jump" graphics when viewed in the party's inventory. It's also worth noting that every one of these items can be equipped by any job regardless of Support abilities - though, as noted, the "weapons" cannot be Double-Handed or Dual Wielded at all.

Regional Differences
- The international versions added voice acting to the animated cutscenes.

iOS/Android Versions
- The Multiplayer function has been disabled. Instead, players can unlock all the new items by simply beating the game, then buying the items at the Poacher's Den on subsequent playthroughs.
