MOSCOW, December 25. /TASS/. Moscow has no illusions regarding prospects of easy settlement of the Ukraine conflict, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told the 60 Minutes program on Rossiya-1 television.
"We have never had or have any illusions that the Ukraine crisis can be resolved easily. Because it has long been clear to any unbiased observer that it can be resolved exclusively in the context of agreements on reliable security and stability [guarantees] in Europe that would take into account the interests of the Russian Federation and, certainly, the legitimate interests of all other countries," Russia’s top diplomat emphasized.
"We have never stated that the incoming administration of [US President-elect Donald] Trump will necessarily give a start to negotiations on global security, on Ukraine. It will not be inevitable, as many now try to hope," Lavrov said.
"We hear that Trump, who has nominated his special adviser [Keith] Kellogg as his envoy for Ukraine, is seeking to put an end to this war as quickly as possible. We have always pushed against this war," he stated.
