Blog Takeover: Britta

Hello there! Britta Swiderski here, and I'm so delighted that Jill asked me to be part of this fabulous week. Jill has actually done an Inspired By... week about me, and I can still remember the squeals of joy when she asked me if she could feature me. Jill is amazingly talented, and I'm so grateful to know her and hopefully soak up some of her talent. ;) Here's the card I've picked to be inspired by today from Jill:
I picked this one because of the fabulous colors and vertical movement in the card. I love these colors together and I don't know if I would've come up with that color combination by myself. Keeping in mind the color scheme, vertical feeling of the card and aiming to incorporate some of the same techniques that Jill used into my own card, I came up with my card:
I added a bit of my own flair with the navy ink (and coloring done with copics - no blending necessary on this one!), the hand stitching and the scalloped edge but made sure to hold onto the elements that really make Jill's card shine. I hope you enjoy my creation and give yourself a chance to be inspired by this fab card from Jill as well today! Thanks very much to Jill for letting me take over her blog for the day. This has been so much fun I might have to steal it for a day again in the future. ;)

Jill here! Britta- your card is as cute and sweet as YOU! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!  And everyone, be sure to pop back tomorrow- there is one more taker-over-er (LOL) known for her awesome cards and fun writing style!
Oh, and here's a peek at today's new card on the Mementos blog

Brit *Day 5*

I'm so sad to see our week with Brit coming to can end today. But I know this last card by Brit will have your jaw on the floor! I just can't get enough of this wonderful creation! I love the colors, the handmade flowers, the design....I could go on and on. It all adds up to one of those cards that stays in your memory because it's just that pretty! Brit truly has great design sense. I can't wait to see all of the wonderful future creations and videos she has up her sleeve. Remember you can always see more of her work on her BLOG.
Here is my take:And before you go, I have one more card to share with you. I actually made ten of these for an order that my sweet friend, Lori, placed with me. I sure hope she is pleased. She requested that they contain a specific Bible verse (which I love!) and have fall colors. Here's what I came up with:

Thanks again to Brit for allowing me to share her work this week! And thanks to all of you who stop by and visit and who leave such fabulous comments! See you tomorrow with a new Purple Onion Designs card. TGIF!

Brit *Day 3*

If you haven't had your colored pencils out in a while THIS video and card by Brit may just inspire you to get them out: Brit's shading is spectacular. And the bright colors really do pop against the kraft background. I love how she has embellished her image, too. She added the perfect amount of bling! Finally, the way Brit included the sentiment as part of the main circle is genius!!

Brit *Day 2*

Here's our next fab inspiration card by Brit:
Don't you love her circle background? You can learn how Brit designed it by watching her video HERE. The imperfect look of the circles coordinates well with the rustic look of the kraft paper on which she has layered her birthday cake. And while we're talking about that cake- check out Brit's paper piecing! WOW, WOW, WOW!

Here's my take. Brit inspired me to make some circles of my own. First, I used a small circle punch to create a circle "stencil." Next I used Distress Ink and that stencil to create my circle background. Too fun!

Thanks for looking! See you tomorrow with another creative card by Brit!!

Inspired by...Brit

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a nice weekend--I can't believe that it is already November! What happened to October??!!! I'm so excited to announce that our next featured artist is...Brit Swiderski! Brit is not only a super talented cardmaker and scrapbooker, but she also is a natural at tutorial videos. I always find tutorials to be super inspiring, so I will be linking you up with some of Brit's this week. Here's our first card by Brit:
I love this warm, red and yellow butterfly card! Brit's watercoloring is amazing. You can learn all her secrets by watching her tutorial video HERE. I love how Brit has combined stamped images, punches, gems, and patterned paper into such a beautiful, cohesive card. And the design of Brit's card is so eye-catching!!
Here is my take. I was inspired by Brit's watercoloring, so I went for that look on my card. I inked the gorgeous wildflower stamp by Hero Arts using Distress Ink and heavily spritzed it with water before stamping.

Thanks so much for stopping by! And if you just can't wait until tomorrow to see more of Brit's work, you can always hop over to her great BLOG.
