It's the Moose Wonderful Time

Wednesday, December 21, 2016
A new challenge starts today over at Little Red Wagon. Our hostess is Sandy and she is seeing stars! At least, she wants to see stars. Please use a star on your Little Red Wagon project this week.

I have spent the past couple of weeks proctoring final exams at our university's Centre for Academic Testing. I'm exhausted!! I was fortunate enough to have a few minutes here and there to do a bit of colouring while waiting for students to finish writing and made these fun cards. On the top of each tree, I added a shiny star created with a little star die (retired from My Craft Spot) and gold foil cardstock.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see what the rest of the Girlfriends have created. We'd also love for you to link up your own creations with stars too!

I'll also be linking up my cards in this week's Simon Says Stamp "Make it Sparkle" challenge.

Joy to the World!

Wednesday, December 14, 2016
I'm delighted to be hosting this week's challenge at Little Red Wagon!

I admit to singing Christmas carols since November this year. I love the old, traditional ones that my Gran used to sing and I love the contemporary ones that I'm just learning. I thought it would be fun to incorporate Christmas carols and songs into this week's challenge and am asking that you use a line from one of your favourite Christmas carols in your sentiment (or somehow incorporate a line into your project).

For my card, I let some graphic paper do most of the work but added a little angel (although I think she might be a fairy-turned-angel with her wand!) to announce the joyful news of the first Christmas. My Christmas carol is "Joy to the World". How perfect that I had a sentiment with just those words!!

Please check out what the rest of the Little Red Wagon Girlfriends have created for this challenge and then link up your own Christmas carol/song project! We can't wait to see what you create (and know that I'll be singing your songs up here in Canada)!!

I'm also delighted that Paper Garden sent me a box full of envelopes to use for my cards! Paper Garden has an amazing variety of colours and shapes available. The envelope I used for this card is a standard A-2 Natural Kraft with a pointed flap.

The sentiment is retired from My Craft Spot.

Santa Snow Globe

Wednesday, December 7, 2016
Santa Claus is coming to town! That's what Brenda has us singing this week at Little Red Wagon. She's challenging us to create projects with Santa (and/or Santa's elves).

I enjoyed colouring my little Santa for this challenge. It's hard to believe that Christmas is less than three weeks away! I have a few more stocking stuffers to get and some baking to do and then we're set. It snowed on Monday so it's even beginning to look a bit more like Christmas too!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to check out all the Santas! While you're there, link up your own project in this week's Santa Claus is Coming to Town challenge!

The sentiment and banner are retired from My Craft Spot and the candy cane paper is from my stash. The candy striped side bar was supposed to be red and white but I smudged some ink so blended everything... I don't like it quite as much but the recipient will never know!

Yeti for Christmas

Wednesday, November 30, 2016
It's Donna's turn to host at Little Red Wagon this week, and she has chosen the theme Chilly Friends for us. Chilly friends are friends who typically live in cold climates, such as penguins and polar bears. I'm hoping that yeti are considered friends too, as that's what I've used on my card.

Given how cute this yeti is, I'd say he's a friend!

Please head to Little Red Wagon to see what Donna and the rest of the Girlfriends have created. Then, link up your own Chilly Friends creation. We'd love to see what you make!

Joy to the World

Wednesday, November 23, 2016
Brenda is this week's hostess over at Little Red Wagon and she wants us to Sparkle and Shine! You can interpret that in lots of different ways - from stars and candles, to glitter, to metallic papers and more!

I decided to use some different metallic papers to put together a couple of Christmas cards. I heat embossed my sentiments in gold and silver for some added shine too!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see what the rest of the Girlfriends have created. Don't forget to link up your own projects. We want to see you Sparkle and Shine!

I'm linking this up for this week's Simon Says Stamp challenge too!

Lean on Me

Wednesday, November 16, 2016
Thanks for your kind comments on the diagnosis of my husband last week. It was a difficult week with the start of chemo but this week is a bit better. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

It's time for another challenge at Little Red Wagon and Sandy has picked this week's challenge: It's Emboss-able! You can use wet or dry embossing - or both, like I did.

I used some sweet little hedgehogs from My Favorite Things to create my card. I stamped the back window panel with a woodgrain stamp and then dry embossed the two windows behind the hedgehogs. On the top right window panel, I heat embossed the sentiment. Unfortunately, some of the embossing powder stuck to the ink used for the woodgrain, so I salvaged things by splattering white and black paint!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see what the rest of the Girlfriends have created. Don't forget to link up your own embossed project too!

Your Thoughtfulness

Wednesday, November 9, 2016

It's Wednesday already! This week, Heather is our hostess at Little Red Wagon and she is challenging us to use her fabulous sketch.

I used some pretty papers from a pack I've had for ages to create my card. The oval is from a My Favourite Things die and the sentiment and flowers were created with retired products from My Craft Spot. I still love all my My Craft Spot goodies!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to check out the rest of the Girlfriends' takes on this week's sketch. Then, be sure to join in the fun by linking up your own project!

We recently learned that my husband has Stage 4 adenocarcinoma of the gastro-esophageal junction. This has come as such a shock as he is otherwise incredibly healthy and fit. We are devastated. For those of you who say prayers, please pray for our family as we adjust to our situation. My husband is my very best friend and my heart is broken to know our time together is limited.

Thanks So Much! Die Cuttin' Divas Guest

Tuesday, November 8, 2016
I'm delighted to be this week's guest designer at Die Cuttin' Divas! This week's theme is Fall Harvest, and anything fall-related goes. I have been needing lots of thank you cards lately and used some of my favourite dies from My Craft Spot (no longer in business) with some distress inks to create my card.

The sentiments are also from My Craft Spot.

Please head over to Die Cuttin' Divas to link your own fall-themed project! As long as you use a die-cut of some sort, you're good to join the fun! Check out the other projects created by the fabulously talented team too!

Harvest of Blessings

Wednesday, November 2, 2016
Happy Wednesday! Here in Canada, it's Take Our Kids to Work Day. Each November, students in Grade 9 go to work with their parents, relatives, friends or neighbours. I'm delighted that my 14-year old will be spending the day at my office. (I work as an Accessibility Advisor at our local university.) He'll be with me for part of the time, but I've got a variety of other activities planned for him with my colleagues - including Whisper, our department's support dog, who comes in every Wednesday.

Over at Little Red Wagon, Jan is our hostess again! She's wishing a "Happy Fall, Y'all!" and wants to see those fall-themed projects. There are leaves everywhere around here - including in the house, despite my constant sweeping. As soon as the door opens, the leaves fly in! I decided to create a shaker card for this challenge, with leaves flying all around my sweet little mouse.

Please head over to
Little Red Wagon to see what the rest of the Girlfriends have created, and to link up your own "Happy Fall, Y'all!" project. We can't wait to see what you create!

The Best is Yeti to Come

Wednesday, October 26, 2016
Another week has flown by and it's time for another Little Red Wagon challenge. This week, I'm the hostess and I'm challenging you to "Stencil It!" - use a stencil to create your project.

I recently received an order from My Favorite Things and had fun putting them to work over the weekend to create my card for this challenge. I thought that the Snowfall stencil would look great if used with texture paste, so that's what I did. I first inked my background paper and then laid the stencil on top, covering it with texture paste. The last time I used texture paste, I left it overnight to dry. This time, I only waited about half an hour and it was fine.

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see what the rest of the Girlfriends have created - and to link up your own "Stencil It!" project. I can't wait to see what you make!

I'm also linking my card up in Simon Says Stamp's Work It Wednesday challenge and this week's Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes as well as My Favorite Things' Sketch Challenge #304.

Go Nuts!

Wednesday, October 19, 2016
It's Wednesday! Wednesday means a new challenge at Little Red Wagon. Jan is our hostess this week and she's ready to party! She'd like to see all of your birthday/celebration creations.

For my project, I created a birthday card. I recently learned that a group of squirrels is a scurry (or a dray). Perhaps I should have added another squirrel to my card to make a scurry. Regardless, the two I've got seem to be scurrying to collect their acorns!

Please head over to Little Red Wagon to see the rest of the Girlfriends' creations - and then link up your own project. We've all got something to celebrate!

Open if You Dare!

Wednesday, October 12, 2016
It's time for another challenge at Little Red Wagon. This week, our Hostess is Donna and she's sending out "Best Witches" to everybody. In other words, create a project with a witch on it.

I decided to create a gift bag for my project. The fun little die cuts on the bag itself are from Your Next Stamp. The tag is cut from a Mama Elephant set and the sentiment stamps and bats are retired products from My Craft Spot. I added some gems to the witch's and cat's eyes for a few pops of sparkling green.

Please had over to Little Red Wagon to join the rest of the Girlfriends in this week's "Best Witches" challenge! We'd love to see what you create!
