Challenge #103 - Challenge YOUrself Blog -" FAMILY "

Hi everyone!  I hope this post finds you and your family well!  Today our family is off on an adventure! We are driving from NJ to Cleveland, OH to attend the wedding of our nephew this weekend!  We rented a large van and 7 of us are driving out there!!

Spending time, and taking adventures with my family is one of life's best BLESSINGS!

I love the prompt for this month's Challenge YOUrself Blog!

Life to me is ALL ABOUT FAMILY!

I selected a photo of my parents, husband, 2 sons and me from our 2015 Disney Cruise to Alaska!  This photo was taken one of our excursions. The color of the lake is amazing and we will never forget all of the wonderful memories we made on this trip!

I used the beautiful Vicki Boutin's Fernwood Collection for this layout.

I even had some fun and used my sewing machine!

Thanks for stopping by!

I hope I've inspired you to play along with us at the Challenge YOUrself Blog!

I can't wait to see what YOU create!!

Stay Safe, Be Well, LOVE your Family!

Hello my Scrappy friends!  It is time for Challenge #43 - the July Challenge from the Challenge YOUrself Blog!  This month we challenge you to include your hand-written journaling on your layout - and don't forget to include a photo of YOU too!

Here is my Design Team Layout for inspiration
I hope you will play along with us at the Challenge YOUrself Blog!

We took our first Alaska Cruise on the Disney Wonder, in June of 2015. We were blessed to have my parents join us!!  I had t-shirts made for all of us to wear when the day we embarked from Vancouver, BC!  We had an AMAZING Trip - a real "Trip of a Lifetime" - sharing such awesome sights and fun family time!!
We all treasure those memories together!

I used a sticker to create a journaling tag, to include handwriting about our awesome trip!

I used lots of "Stuff" from the Paper House Nautical Collection - yes, I have a "thing" for any papers or collections that have to do with Disney or Cruising!!  Imagine that!! LOL!

August Scrap Our Stash Book Cover Challenge "Tracy Arm"

Happy August everyone!  I hope this summer has been treating you well, and you have had the chance to make some wonderful memories!

Here is our Book Cover Challenge over at the Scrap Our Stash Blog, for the month of August:

Use the above Book cover to inspire you when creating your layout, and be sure to include a decorative paperclip!  ( don't have a fancy one in your stash? how about a colored one? or maybe wrap some ribbon, fibers or washi around it and turn a plain old paperclip into something special!)

And here is my layout for your inspiration.  The book cover reminded me of "travel" so I dug through our vacation photos and selected this FUN shot from our Disney Alaska cruise in June of 2015.  I so LOVE this shot of our family, at one of the most beautiful places in the world!

I love non-sketch challenges as they allow me to get creative with odd size or large photos.  This is one of my favorites from our cold, and rainy, but BEAUTIFUL day at Tracy Arm, on-board the Disney Wonder!

The oval with the date, and the Mickey head with the plaid cap are graphic files that a fellow cruiser shared.  I printed them on glossy photo paper, cut them out and added them with foam dots to this little cluster in the corner.

I love to collect beautiful moments, don't you? These small talk stickers are a fun way to add sentiments to a layout.  I matted them on cardstock and pop-dotted them for dimension. I am so happy I selected this background paper as the base! It screams "frozen" and "cold" - which we were!

The Captain Mickey tag is actually given to cruisers on the last night of the cruise, to attach to our luggage, and assist in sorting and locating it for pick up after we disembark.  I was sure to save one as I thought it would make a great embellishment!  You can also see the FUN Mickey paperclip that I picked up in Disneyland earlier this year - LOVE IT!!

If you've visited my blog before, you know I love to make hidden pockets with foam tape, to slip a journaling card in, behind photos. I used some fun Disney washi tape as a pull for this one.

Here is the front of the journaling card.  I also matted it to cardstock and wrote on the back as you can see in the photo below.

Items used:
Scrapbook Customs : Iceberg, Mr. Lumberjack, Alaska Vintage Journal
Tim Holtz - Small Talk Stickers
Ranger Distress Stains : Picket Fence, Candied Apple, Blueprint Sketch
Washi Tape
Mickey Paper Clip - from our trip to Disneyland!

As always, THANK YOU for stopping by, and taking the time to read my blog.  I hope it inspires you to CREATE and play along with us this month at the SCRAP OUR STASH Blog!  I can't wait to see what you come up with!

March Challenge YOUrself = Chevron FUN!

One of the things I love about a "non-sketch" challenge - is the freedom to use any size photo or photos on you layout.   I have a lot of large 8 x 10 photos from our Disney cruises, and this month's "CHEVRON" challenge from the Challenge YOUrself  Blog is a perfect way to use one of these photos!

March's challenge is to Create a layout using anything with a Chevron Pattern - and of course, you need to include YOU in the photo!!

Here is one of my favorite photos from our June 2015 Disney Wonder Alaska Cruise, as we boarded the ship in Vancouver, Canada.  We were blessed to have been able to take this beautiful and memorable cruise with my sons and parents. This was our first Alaskan Cruise
- and hopefully will not be our last!

Here are a few close ups for you:

I think this MICKEY pin makes a great embellishment for this layout, and I LOVE the whale and anchor Washi Tape!

I used 3D Foam tape to adhere the photo to the Chevron base page, and also used it to make a pocket in the top right corner, to hold a tag that I journaled on, about our trip.  I also added strips of Washi Tape to that corner, to balance the Washi on the bottom left.

Here you can see the various Washi tapes I used - some Chevron, and some not!!

Finally here is the cute title - I added the camera and Mickey button and some dew drops too!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will take some time for you - and play along with us this month at the Challenge YOUrself Blog!

Items used:
Black Bazzill Cardstock
Simple Stories - The Story of Us - Silver Chevron
Jolee's Canada Sticker
Assorted Washi Tapes
Ranger Distress Stains : Picket Fence, Mermaid Lagoon, Candied Apple
Ranger Distress Paint: Brushed Pewter

November "MIM" Sketch# 49 "Freezing @ Tracy Arm!"

Happy November!!!   I hope all of you out there in Bloggyland are well, and you are ready to get your "SKETCH on!"  The first sketch for this month @ The Memory Nest Blog is up and ready for you to join in!

Leslie has given us another FUN Challenge this month, with a little added "somethin' somethin'!"

I am sure you are able to replace the "@" sign with any other embellishment, but I thought it would be fun to incorporate it in my layout, and in the title.  Take a look at the sketch:

As a little "aside" for you - I did do a little research and found out that the "@" was originally used when listing and pricing items for example:  Qty (3) Chocolate Bars @ $1.00each = $3.00.
Sometimes it is also used in the place of the word "Approximately" or "Around" as well - ie: We should arrive @ 6:00pm.
Since the invention of Email - it has become widely used as an email "Address" denoting what email service or provider is used for that person's email address.  - So now you know! LOL!

Now, onto my DT Inspiration Layout for you....

I decided to break into the pack of Disney Cruise Line ALASKA Scrapbook papers/stickers, that I purchased on our Disney Wonder Cruise this past June, along with some other papers from my "STASH!" I love the bright and dark blues that pick up the colors in the glacier, mixed with the black and red check, that picks up on our red rain jackets - I didn't think it would work - but somehow it does!

This is one of my favorite photos of us, standing at the bow of The Disney Wonder, right in front of the Sawyer Glacier, at the end of our trip up Tracy Arm Fjord.  We stood, freezing, in the cold, wet, rainy weather for about 2 hours, holding our "front row spot" as we traveled up the Fjord, approaching the glacier.

We sailed through incredible blue water, and around every bend there were breathtaking views of mountains and amazing waterfalls. As we got closer, there were icebergs and seals floating by too.  It was a trip of a lifetime, and a memory we will cherish always. This view was worth the wait, in the cold, wet, windy weather for sure!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will join us and play along at THE MEMORY NEST BLOG.  I can't wait to see what you will come up with!!
