More Stitching's Going On

Hello!  :)

Last night I managed to finish stitching the 3rd part of my 6 Fat Men piece. Here's "Snow Friends" . . .

Sorry the pictures aren't the best. I took them at night as I wanted to get them posted before I forgot to do it. Lol  :)  Here's the 3 parts so far . . .

I'll be starting on part 4 tonight. Before I work on the fat men some more, I stitched the 3 pieces for my next project in the Stitch-A-Long over at www.stitch-a-long.blogspot.com. This piece is from the "Tis the Season" book by Natalie Bird.

Please forgive the blue markings. I haven't sprayed them with water yet to remove them. I can't believe I'm actually ahead of pace this month. I still have to make these into a wallhanging, but hey . . . they're stitched on April 1st! That's quite an accomplishment for me!  ;)

Until next time . . .

Finished Just in Time!

Hello!  :)

Happy Easter! I hope the Easter bunny brings you lots of chocolate!  ;)

This past week I finished a couple of small cross stitch pieces before I worked on my 6 Fat Men again. The first piece I did was Lizzie Kate's Limited Edition "Chicks". It's stitched on the linen that came with the kit. I used all the threads called for and substituted a couple I didn't have on hand. Here it is . . .

Today I actually had time to sit down and make the piece into a pillow.

Of course I used lots of pink!  ;)  I also added some buttons, charms, lace and rick rack. I think it turned out really nice. I actually have a finished, finished piece before Easter! Okay it's only a day before Easter but it still counts!  ;)

Last week I also finished another Lizzie Kate Limited Edition design, "A Bee C".

I stitched this on the linen that came with the kit. I used the threads called for and again substituted a couple I didn't have on hand.

I don't know if you remember or not but I'm taking part in the Stitch-Along over at www.stitch-a-long.blogspot.com. We're doing a small project every month instead of a quilt this year. This month's project is a pincushion from the Some Kind of Wonderful book by Anni Downs. Here it is . . .

The pattern on the sides are embroidered with pink perle cotton. The top is made with 1-1/2" squares of Pam Kitty Morning that I had leftover from my "My Favorite Things" quilt. It went together pretty quick. Good thing too since it has to be done by tomorrow. Nothing like the last minute!  ;)

I stuffed it with crushed walnuts. The pins are two that my friend Donna gave me last year. I thought they looked nice in it.  :)

Next month we will be making a wallhanging from the book "Tis the Season" by Natalie Bird. I got a head start today. (Okay so I'm only a day earlier, but I'm usually a last minute kind of gal). I traced the embroidery patterns on some muslin and backed them in fusible batting so they're ready to stitch.

Last by not least . . . my 6 Fat Men . . . I worked a couple of nights this week on the next section, "Snow Friends".

It's coming along nicely. Thanks for visiting!  :)

Until next time . . .

My 1st Friday Night Sew-In of 2013

Hello!  :)

Tonight was the 1st Friday Night Sew-In of the new year. I'm happy that I got the chance to participate.  :)  Before I show you what I made, I'd like to tell you about a Stitch-A-Long I joined this year.

It's the same group I made my "My Favorite Things" quilt with last year.

This year we're using these three books to complete different, smaller projects each month.

"Some Kind of Wonderful" by Annie Downs (the book "My Favorite Things" quilt was from), "Tis the Season" by Natalie Bird and "Red Home" by Natalie Bird. These are all awesome books by Australian designers. For January the project comes from the "Red Home" book.

We are making the "Thread Catcher Fabric Basket".

We actually had the choice to make the Fabric Basket or a Shoe Bag from the "Some Kind of Wonderful" book. I made the "Thread Catcher Fabric Basket".

Here's a closer look at my "Thread Catcher Fabric Basket" . . .

I used some fun sewing themed fabric on the outside and pink polka dot on the inside. I also used a decorative stitch at the top in brown thread. As you can tell it got a messed up in the center. Oh well.  ;) Here's the other side . . .

Next month we'll be making this "True Friends Tote Bag" from the same book.

I can't wait to sit down and choose the fabrics I'll be using for this. I'm also eager to start on the stitching. Thanks for stopping by and checking out what I did for my Friday Night Sew-In.  :)

Until next time . . .

My Favorite Things is All Done!!!!!!!! :)

Hello!  :)

Yes it's DONE!!!! I'm soooo happy! I absolutely LOVE the way it tuned out!!!!  :)  Here it is . . .

And the back (not that you can see much - well maybe if you enlarge it) . . .

I tried to take a close up picture of the hand quilting but you really can't see too much.

In the borders I stitched four-petal flowers in every other square with a loop in between with white. In the strip sections I stitched larger four-petal flowers with 2 loops between with white. Four the blocks I outline stitched them in red and used white to outline all the shapes in the blocks. As for the smaller block sections between them I stitched one, two or three, five-petal flowers on some of the larger squares using yellow for the centers and either red, pink, blue, or dark blue for the petals. Here it is all folded up . . .

And one last peek at all that Pam Kitty Morning goodness! I love that fabric and it really made this quilt a treasure for me.  :)

I stitched this as part of a Stitch-A-Long over at http://stitch-a-long.blogspot.com/. Be sure to go there to check out some of the other girls quilts. Thanks for sharing in this experience with me. It's actually the first quilt I finished for myself. Yes, it's mine! All mine!!!!  ;)

Until next time . . .

My Favorite Things Update!

Hello!  :)

Last week I managed to sew the strips together. I forgot to take pictures of that step but you can see them here . . .

Yes I actually got the rows and strips all sewn together this past weekend.  :)  It's really hard to get a good picture since it's so big. It's even harder when your dog keeps wanting to get in the picture.  ;)

I think he's showing his approval.  ;)  It really could use a few more dog hairs added to it anyway (rolling eyes). Here's a closer view of the top half . . .

And a closer view of the bottom half . . .

Next step are the borders and then the quilt top will be finished!  :)  The original design called for more of the strips for the borders but I'm going to do something different. Just because I can!  ;)  Stay tuned!  ;)

Until next time . . .

The Rows are All Done!

Hello!  :)

I did it! I finished the last 2 rows for my "My Favorite Things" quilt! Yea! Here they are . . .

Sorry but the pictures aren't too great as it was late and dark.  :(  I took some other close-up pictures to show more of the details. Here's the top . . ..

the middles . . .

and the bottoms . . .

Next I'll be adding the strips between them. It's really coming together!  :)

Until next time . . .

What I Accomplished for My Friday Night Sew-In

Hello Friends!  :)

I had a pretty productive Friday Night Sew-In. I managed to put the blocks for the first 3 rows together of my "My Favorite Things" quilt together. Here's the first row . . .

For some reason the bottom got cut off . . . so sorry. (edited to add: I fixed the problem now)

Here's the second row . . .

This time both the top and bottom got cut off in the photo. I have no idea why this is happening. The whole row is there and then when I crop it and save it part is missing. I think it's a weird phenomenon. It's the mystery of the block snatchers or something. Lol!  :)  Can you tell it's late and I'm tired?  ;)  (edited to add:  I fixed the problem! Yea!)

Here's the third row with nothing cut off . . .

I don't know why all the sudden this one stayed whole while the others were cut off. Oh well!  :)

I still have 2 more rows to piece together. I was hoping to get them done today but my two older kids came to visit and we've been busy having fun!  :)

I'll let you know when I finished the last rows. Thanks for visiting! It's been nice having you here!  :)

Until next time . . .

Cutting & A Little Piecing FINALLY!

Hello!  :)

Do you remember way back in March when I shared this yummy Pam Kitty Morning fabric with you?

I purchased it to use in my "My Favorite Things" Quilt. I'm making the quilt as part of a quilt-a-long over at the site "Stitch-A-Long". Do you remember? Then I appliqued and stitched up all the blocks for the 5 rows. Here they are to refresh your memory. . .

Well that was as far as I got. I kept meaning to get back to it and work on it but of course I didn't. It's supposed to be finished by the end of October so I figured I'd better get back to working on it. I started by trimming all those blocks down to size.

While I was cutting them down to size I realized that my "sewing" block was missing something.

There was supposed to be 3 mini quilt blocks at the bottom of the block. So I got the fabrics out, cut and sewed them together. Now my "sewing" block is complete!  :)

Next I finally cut most of the fabric for the remainder of the quilt. Here are the strips and blocks . . .

All those blocks are 2-1/2" or under! Here's another view of all those strips and blocks . . .

I'm hoping to start sewing them all together with those appliqued blocks above tonight during the Friday Night Sew-In.

If all goes as scheduled I'm hoping to get a lot done. Wish me luck!  :)

Until next time . . .
