Oops...I missed out on an April Post

So, I didn't post at all in April. Oops. 😬 Ah well, May 1st is *almost* April!
I managed to get my April ornament stitched up but ran out of time to finish it. I will get it finished in the next few days so I don't get behind on my mission to stitch one ornament a month. It is an oldie but goodie - a LHN ornament from the 2010 series. I've stitched a few from this particular year. T'was a good year!

In addition to my ornament stitching, I have another new start. After seeing Lorrie's (aka Mischievous Stitcher) Pat Roger's Tapestry Sampler on floss tube, I remembered that I had stitched a Pat Roger's sampler back in the 90s. In fact, I stitched this particular design several times for various family members. Below is one that I stitched for my nanna Ivy in 1994 (thanks to my dad for retrieving this from their loft!) It hung pride of place in my Nanna's hallway until her death in 2010. As you can see, the framing is pretty dated, but the sampler isn't. I just love the colours in this one, so I will be getting it re-framed.

In my quest to find a copy of the Pat Rogers Tapestry Sampler chart, I discovered another sampler of hers that I really like. So I purchased it - from etsy - and made a start. I wish the photos did it justice. The colours are just beautiful. It seems to be stitching up fairly quickly, so I should get this finished this month.

I hope to be back fairly soon with my April ornament all finished up and Alphabet Garden ready to be framed!

Until next time,

HOE Exchanges

Phew, after a journey that took over 2 weeks, my parcel for Stephanie finally arrived. And I received beautiful ornaments from Carol and Stephanie. 😊 Carol (Garden of Stitches) stitched a Redwork Santa by Prairie Schooler. I love him - isn't he finished perfectly? I plan on stitching many more for our tree. Incidentally, I have only just discovered that Prairie School has ceased trading. How did I miss this announcement? I rarely stitch anything by Prairie Schooler, but I have a few on my wish-list that I would really love to stitch. I will be scouring eBay later to see if I can purchase them before they become hard to find and super expensive.

Stephanie (Blue Star Stitcher) stitched part of a Winter Sampler by Janlynn. I love all of the attention to detail. The tiny beads around the edge are adorable. It must have taken hours and hours.

My ornament for Stephanie is one that I have stitched before (again, for an exchange!) It is Fa La La by Shepherd's Bush. This time, I stitched 1 over 2 and really like the effect.

One Made It, One In Transit

I recently participated in a Hooked on Exchanges Christmas exchange. I sent to Stephanie (Blue Star Stitcher) and Carol (Garden of Stitches). I posted the parcels over 2 weeks ago, but only Carol's has arrived...oh no! I will show what I sent to Carol and have everything crossed that Stephanie's parcel is just running a little late...

I'm rather chuffed with the scissor fobs that I made!

The stitched house is a freebie that I spotted on pinterest. It is by Silvie from Au Hasard des Oiseaux. I really must stitch it for myself. I know I've said this before, but the quality of freebie charts is so high these days. Do we really need to buy so much stash?!

Hopefully I will be back soon with more exchange stitching to show...

until next time,

March's Ornament - Done!

Here is my ornament for March. I love this design...I have stitched it FOUR times, but never for myself! It is 'Peace & Quiet' by Erica Michaels. I think it may be OOP now. I stepped out of my comfort zone and finished as a flat ornament with cord trim. I'd forgotten how tricky a flat finish is! It's so difficult to get the design perfectly central. 😬
I will be back later in the month with news of two exchanges that I have participated in. Two posts in one month?! Wow, I really am on a roll. 😊

January AND February - Done!

Two down, ten to go! 😬 I didn't manage to get hold of any more amber linen, so I went with vintage beige for the reverse of 'A Little Snow'. It *kinda* matches and it means I wasn't held up any longer finishing my January ornament.

I've even started stitching March's ornament...go me! 😀

A Little Snow

I'm afraid my title describes my latest finish rather than the weather! We have only had a few flakes so far this year. My children are so disappointed...they're desperate to build a snowman. ☃
I have wanted to stitch this Lizzie Kate design for years. I love the amber linen - I've never stitched on this colour before. Unfortunately it hasn't photographed well here. I want to finish it as a little hanging ornament, but I don't have enough amber fabric left and every online fabric shop that I use seems to be out of stock! Grrrrr. I was desperate to get it finished in January as I am taking a leaf out of Carol's book and would like to stitch an ornament a month. (Thank you for the inspiration, Carol!). No matter...I will just have to finish two in February! I have already started stitching...

It's Been a While...

*whispers* do you think if I tiptoe in, people won't notice that I have been missing for a while...?!

I am going to dip my toe back into blogging by showing off a recent exchange. I participated in the Christmas Joy Exchange over on the Stitch, Create, Exchange blog. I received a parcel full of lovely goodies from Edit in Hungary. The stitched piece is a drawstring bag. Gorgeous AND useful! Thank you so much, Edit.

My exchange partner was June from Butterfly Wings. June emailed to let me know that she really liked what I sent and I think I spied my stitched ornie on her tree when she posted to her blog over Christmas, so that made me very happy!

Well, I think I will leave it there for now. Hopefully you will be seeing more regular posts from me in the future!

Regards,

Christina
