Catching Up...

I didn’t really intend to stop blogging, but looking back, it’s been 4 months!

A lot has been going on. Lots of medical stuff, which you can read about here: https://www.youcaring.com/jodie-bissig-436264  As much as I don’t want to admit it, MS has really slowed me down. I’m trying to keep up with my art projects, because it makes me feel like me

We spent few weekends in the foothills during Spring at my husband’s family’s cabin near Mariposa.

It was a very good year for wildflowers (and my favorite barn in the background, it was the star of my first pastel painting).

Lots of pretty sunsets set against the oak trees.

I worked on some knitting by the creek. I was trying to make a hat. First attempt was a bust, but second try worked out well!

I have a quilt that is done, just waiting for binding (hopefully this week).

And... I took a watercolor painting class and came home with a pretty picture.

Secret Sister

The mother's group I am in organizes a secret sister gift exchange. Our big "reveal" was today, so I can show the gifts I had made for my secret sister this year. I don't think she's a blog reader (?), but just in case I hadn't posted any of these as to not spoil the surprise.

First was a little ceramic sign. I actually somehow didn't get a picture of the finished one, but here's almost finished. Their last name + the year they were married.

Homemade sugar scrub. Super easy to make - just use white and brown sugar, mix in olive or coconut oil and add a fragrance you like. I used lavender. Scrub your hands, rinse with water, and enjoy the inexpensive, homemade manicure.  : )
And lastly, a knitted scarf. Kind of silly in this area since we are at the beginning of a good 4+ months of heat, but maybe she will go to the coast or somewhere and be able to use it.
I don't remember the brand of yarn I used, but it was from Michaels. I love the turquoise color with just a little bit of purple to make it interesting.

To wrap it up, I rolled the scarf into a ball and tied it with another short piece of yard. Pretty!

Knit Baby Hat

Knitted a little hat for baby while watching The Ugly Truth today. I have a pretty wonderful model (10 weeks old).

My daughter has also requested a green scarf, so I'll be adding that to the list of crafts. I love that I can knit while watching TV or riding in the car and am excited to get back into it.

Knitting

My sewing machine decided to sew no mo' this weekend - it just won't go. I've asked my tech support (aka husband) to check it out for me. I have 40 quilt blocks that are one stitch away from completion, two appliques-in-progress, and assorted other sewing-machine-dependent projects pending.

To keep myself busy until he found the time to look at my machine, I worked on a blanket I've been knitting here-and-there for the last few months.

It's a deep red yarn and I am hoping to finish it over the next few months so we'll have another homemade blanket to snuggle with this winter.
