Queuing for the ATM

Anyone who has visited Vietnam will know that the Vietnamese are not known for their ability to queue. Airports especially are an incredible phenomenon, although this has improved over the years.

This is a standard scene outside an ATM, where a few people mill around with no real structure, just waiting to ounce on the cubicle once the person inside comes out.

Perfume counter






















There are a few perfume stalls inside Ben Thanh market that look identical to this one. I like the look of them because they are back lit and crammed full of colourful bottles, however friends tell me that the authenticity of the bottle contents is questionable

Durian stall


It seems no other foodstuff quite polarises people like durian. Personally I do not mind the odour and quite like the creamy texture of the fruit. There is quite a sweet aroma when you drive past this stall and at about US$2 a kilo, it is a steal
