we may just take a wander down to Antarctica to cool off. I'm ready!  Almost.  I just need one of those ear-flappy hats and a long scarf to wrap around my nose and mouth. Probably I should put my boots on too. And I'll need some mittens...

Sunday Selections #513

Image
Long, long ago, in days of yore...Kim of Frog ponds Rock, (who no longer blogs), dreamed up a meme called Sunday Selections.  A place where those who were willing could put up photos they wanted to share, new, old, good, bad or indifferent, any photos you please.  Nothing rude or vulgar though. The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Drop in to Elephant's Child and have a look. Still mostly in the Christmas theme:  "I can't see out properly" "that's much better" Yoda has a Christmassy bow tie "I'm going to help with the decorating" says Meg "Help! I'm caught in a tinsel avalanche!" almost finished, "All done! time for a chocolate covered cherry, Mum says these are not for children, but I don't think she will miss just one." I hung a small Santa on the front door, don't look too closely at the sloppy paint job I put out the vintage Santa and the snow g...

Wednesday's Words on a Friday

Image
The original Words for Wednesday was begun by Delores and eventually taken over by a moveable feast of participants when Delores had computer troubles. Sadly, Delores has now closed her blog forever due to other problems. The aim of the words is to encourage us to write. A story, a poem, whatever comes to mind. If you are posting an entry on your own blog, please let us know so we can come along to read it and add a few encouraging words. This month the words/prompts are supplied by Elephant's Child and can be found here This week's words/prompts are:  1. celebration  2. birth  3. bells  4. majesty  5. small  6. forgotten  and/or:  1. bay  2. half  3. hope  4. sister  5. book  6. hunt  and a special word in honour of Jo: Dragon Here is my story: Down by the dock of the bay , the town's children gazed with awe at the majesty of the Christmas Tree as it slowly passed by, safely secured to the largest barge avail...

She snuck outside when I stepped out to take moon photos and I didn't see her until she streaked past me. I waited for her to come back, and waited, waited, waited, almost 1 o'clock in the morning I heard a tiny meow at the door and let her in. what to do with left over veggies, stir in one beaten egg, add as many cornflakes crumbs as it takes to get a firm mixture, fry spoonfuls in butter until golden an...

there goes my record

ðŸ˜¢ My lifelong never-broken-a-bone-yet record.  Not even when I crashed my motorbike decades ago. I'd been having some back pain, thinking I'd strained a muscle again, but usually that gets better pretty quickly and this pain hadn't even lessened after a couple of weeks.  No real OMG!! pain!   Just severe discomfort.  Losing a bit of sleep because I can't get comfortable sort of thing. So off I went to the hospital, the one my daughter works at, and lay around for several hours while they asked my name and birthdate at least six times, drained me of blood, poked, prodded, x-rayed, you name it, they did it. Anyway, it was eventually decided that I simply had a more severe strain than usual, in the muscles between the ribs. Off I went home, with instructions to take it easy, take anti-inflammatory tablets a couple of times a day, and stop lifting heavy things, no more vigorous sweeping of squished plums off my path etc.  That's all good, I can lay aroun...

The meme is now continued by Elephant's Child and I occasionally join in as do a few others. Drop in to Elephant's Child and have a look. Let's begin in my back porch today: Introducing Mr Herb Karret who loves to tend his carrot patch, but when all is done there... he climbs aboard his Harley and hits the open road for a well-earned break once home again, he often climbs the stairs to visit with Sam Baker for tea and cakes the other side of the porch is a messy work-in-progress, but not much progress has been made since the weather heated up and often enough the air out there is a bit lot too strong with whatever certain neighbours are smoking there are boards with tile adhesiv...
