Fall is in the air....so let's Decorate!

Have you decorated your home for fall yet? I can feel the nights getting cooler, but the days are still pretty hot, however I feel fall weather is close!

I'm ready for sweaters, boots, scarves & of course bonfires in our new firepit (see previous post to see our new firepit hubby built) But weather is not quite ready for that yet, so instead let's decorate our homes!

I have been making chalkboard style sign boards for about a year now & made some especially for fall. I'd say that really helps to bring a bit of fall into the home. Look at all those great fall activities to look forward to in this fall bucket list! I have about 6-8 designs for fall, but this is the best seller.

You can find this sign HERE
& all my other fall signs HERE

What Is Your Decorating Style??

I just took the "Decorating Style Quiz" over at the HomeGoods website and here are my results:

Darlene, you are an Earthy Casual
You're interested in creating a welcoming home where people feel comfortable and happiness flourishes. You appreciate the warmth and individuality of natural materials and handcrafted things and are inspired by colors and forms from nature. You love mixing up different textures and are sensitive to the tactile qualities of objects. Your style is grounded and solid, not flighty or frilly. And you are never taken in by the trend of the moment.
You value order. You feel happiest if your home is well organized. You understand that when your house is in order, your mind feels clearer. Rather than a lot of meaningless objects or overly-designed items, you are happier with a few well-placed things. Your home is your respite from a busy life. Try to avoid letting things into your home that you don't really love

WOW, this is so TRUE about my style!!

Putting Your Style to Work!
With your style and needs in mind, here are a few tips that will help you make your home a little happier.

1. Your Design Challenge: LIGHT Think about borrowing light and reflecting it. Placing mirrors across from windows multiplies whatever light you do have and can extend the view, or try two mirrors across from one another. If you find a big frame you like, you can have a mirror cut for it. Consider putting sconces near mirrors or candles or even lamps in front of them to enhance their light. Hanging chandeliers are nicer than recessed lights, and lots of small lamps work better than one big light source. Go for a few choice, sparkly accessories like candlesticks, boxes, frames and trays in silver or gold.

2. Your Happy Place The more serene your bedroom feels, the happier you will be. A pretty coverlet over a big duvet makes the bed look smooth—and not all duvet-lumpy! And, a blanket folded at the foot of the bed breaks up the big expanse of fabric. Euro shams—those big square pillows—are great for reading in bed, and a few decorative pillows can also be a nice touch. Consider adding a basket or a small occasional table near your bedside table for books, papers, lotions, linen spray or whatever you'd like.

3. Be Party-Ready All the Time! Scent: The first thing you notice about a home is how it smells. Use naturally fragrant cleaning products. If you find a scented candle or fresh potpourri you love, stock up on it. Any scent you like, whether perfume or linen spray, can be used on upholstery, bedding or just spritzed into the air.Mood: Nice, flattering light makes us feel good. So nix the harsh, direct light from overhead fixtures in favor of the softer glow from floor and table lamps. Also, stock up on some votive candles and a couple of hurricane lanterns for setting around the room.Food: Devote space in your pantry or on a shelf for go-to party essentials: crackers, dip, chips, nuts—whatever you like to serve. Keep on hand a collection of attractive bowls and cocktail napkins, and you'll be able to set a spread—instantly!Drink: The simplest and chicest thing is to have a drinks tray or table always set up. Include a mix of pretty glasses, an ice bucket, a lovely pitcher, and bottles of soda and water. When the bell rings, just add ice and limes.

Go take the Quiz and let me know what style you are.

Bathing Beauties

Just thought I would share something I just discovered. I know alot of you love the vintage look so when I saw these Bathing Beauties I thought of you.

These are by Dr. Livingstone. He was on HSN this morning, but you can also find these at HSN.com. I have seen similar ones at Ballard Design for alot more money.

Here is my favorite. She is called Spa Girl. She would look so great in a bathroom. I can see her sitting on a stack of towels. Unfortunately she has sold out, but I'm gonna keep my eyes open for when she gets restocked.

If you want one...Hurry...they are selling out FAST!!

Come see my new chairs

Yeah, my new dining room chairs arrived! They are so comfy! I love them! They are so much more me than those golden oak country chairs I had.

As soon as the kitchen is done. I will be redoing the dining table. I think the base of the table will be painted black and the top will be gel stained Mahogany. Then we will have a glass cut to go on top the table to protect it. When that is done I'll have to redo the curio cabinet that is in the corner.

Have a great day!

Christmas Trees Galore!

I went to a local store called House to Home here in Hot Springs and fell in love with their decorated Christmas Trees! They were all STUNNING!! The owner Jennifer Huett and a friend of hers decorated the trees all themselves. Jennifer said the trick is to add alot of stuff...the more the better!

**Remember you can click on each photo to enlarge them!

Have you ever seen an upside down tree?

Love this tree! She said this is the most popular tree in the store. She also said it looked better a few weeks ago before customers started buying things off of the tree.

Love the feathers!

Red and Green Tree

Oh and this Aqua, White & Silver Tree would look amazing in my 20 yr old daughter's bedroom! Too bad, there isn't enough room in her room for a tree like this!

How about an All Red Tree?

And Red with Silver

A Copper/Bronze/Gold Tree (this would even look great for Thanksgiving)

Notice the sign?

Hope you enjoyed seeing the christmas trees as much as I did! Although the pictures don't do them justice! What is your favorite?

Our Creative Life

Hi!
Thanks for stopping by! Hubby and I are both pretty creative if I do say so. I am good at visualizing what I want but if I can't find it or make it...he can usually make it. Alot of times he is the laborer behind my designs & ideas so we make a great team! In fact back a few years ago, I wanted a rug to match my new sofa, but couldn't find one that I like or with the colors I wanted. Being the entrepreneur that I've always been I started thinking that there needed to be a company that offered custom rugs. You know... any size, shape or colors that you wanted. So I researched to see if there was such a company. I found that there was, but not many in the US. There had to be more people like me wanting rugs that were custom and not the mass marketed rugs. A couple months later we got trained in the art of custom rug making and voila...we started Creative Carpet Design. This is just one area of our lives that we use our creativity. I will be sharing creative ideas for home decor, gift giving, parties, holidays and much more on this blog. I hope to inspire you to live a creative life!
