Monochromatic colored pencils cat card.

Hi there!  Here is an easy and cute cat card using monochromatic colored pencils on kraft cardstock.  This is also up on the Unity Stamp Co. blog today.  For this project, I chose the tones of tan, gold, gray and white.

Sentiment:
If cats could send a card... they wouldn't.

The stamp combination makes me laugh.  I think the sentiment is the best part of this card.  haha

Nothing in life prepares us for losing someone we love.
My condolences to you and your family.

Sadly, these types of cards are occasionally needed.  It is helpful to have them on hand and ready to lend support.

Watercolor with dye ink pads ~ Sunflower card topper

Hello.  Today, I am sharing watercolor with dye ink pads for this sunflower card topper.  This is a fun way to use almost any stamp, especially background stamps.

Sentiment:

Thankful for you.

You don't need fancy watercolor sets if you have dye ink pads.  When water is added to a palette, the ink becomes great for adding watercolor to cards.

Hello.  Today, on the Unity blog, I am sharing a set of 13 Halloween treat toppers, which can also be used as gift tags or mini cards.

These were super easy to make using stamping, coloring and ink blending.  Dies are optional but a paper trimmer is really all you need to create similar cuts.

MCT 104th Edition Release, Blog Hop & Sale ~ Halloween

Hello, it's Gaylynn.  Great news, the My Creative Time 104th Edition release, sale and blog hop has begun.

For the blog hop, you may have arrived from Emily's blog.

For this post, I am focusing on the three different sizes of the bat bow dies.  And, I used them as decoration for the two sizes of witch hat topper dies.  Each size bow is trimmed with tiny bat die-cuts as accents.

To make these bow witch hat toppers, fist have wrapped treats or favor bags assembled.  I used assorted sizes of clear bags to hold assorted treats in different ways.  Next, die-cut the hats and the spiders.  I used two sizes of hats.  Then, die-cut and assemble three bows.  I used all three bat bow dies ~ fun size, small and medium sizes.  Finally, adhere the hats with the bows as toppers for the treat bags.

For the boys, you can always use the included hat trim accessories instead of the bows.
I wanted the toppers to be bright and have a lot of contrast.  Any color assortments will work.

Tip:  I recommend using a hot glue gun to carefully assemble the bows and to fasten the bow hats to the bags.  Otherwise, use extra tacky tape or glue.

 *** BLOG HOP GIVEAWAY ***

Here is another look to this set of toppers assembled onto assorted wrapped treats.

Day 3 MCT 104th Edition Sneak Peeks ~ Bow Treat Wrap

Hi, it's Gaylynn.  Here is Day 3 of the My Creative Time 104th Edition sneak peeks.  I made a favor wrap or treat topper to go onto a bag of treats for Halloween.  It is accented with cute witch shoes and a bat bow.

Sentiment:  No tricks just treats.

For this cute topper, I stamped, colored and die-cut the legs.  Then, I die-cut and trimmed all of the topper pieces and adhered it all together.  Then, I folded the top portion of the topper over a plastic bag of treats.  To fasten the topper, either staple or tape it into place.  I love that the bow has tiny bats die-cut around the edges of each bow layer.

Day 2 MCT 104th Edition Sneak Peek ~ Pencil Favor Topper

Hi, it's Gaylynn.  Here is Day 2 of the My Creative Time 104th Edition sneak peeks.  I made a favor wrap topper for Halloween.  It is accented with a cute witch hat and tiny bats around the rosette.  This holds pencils instead of candy for trick-or-treaters.

To make this pencil favor wrap topper, trim and score a piece of black cardstock for the background.  Next, die-cut the hat pieces and cut the rosette twice.  Then, assemble all of the pieces and fold the rosette.  To finish, use a hot glue tool to adhere the rosette and the hat to the background panel.  Once set, fasten the topper to the pencil wrapper, or staple the topper in place.

No coloring stamping with matching paper ~ Thanksgiving.

Today for Technique Time for Unity, I am sharing a quick and simple card using no coloring stamping along with matching pattern paper.

Sentiment:  Happy Thanksgiving.  Sending warm thoughts and wishes.

To begin, I trimmed the paper panels to fit the card base.  Then, I used no coloring stamping and embossed the flowers and the sentiment panel in white.  Finally, all of the paper was layered and twine was added to finish.

I made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.

Watercolor blending, sympathy card topper and tutorial.

For Watercolor Wednesday, I am showing a way to blend two shades of watercolor onto a stamped flower.  Also, I share a cute card topper idea.

Sentiment:  With sympathy

To begin, I used watercolor paper for the flower and vellum for the sentiment.  All paper was trimmed to fit the card base.  Watercolor was added using markers, but any watercolor would work for this technique.  I first dabbed watercolor by color section and then blended that section out with a wet brush.  I repeated that for the second golden watercolor sections, blending into the first color.  To finish, I layered a card topper using die-cut patterned paper, vellum and a sentiment.

The full article and tutorial are up on the Unity blog.
I also made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.

Dream Catcher Card ~ Unity Blog Hop

Hi there, it's Gaylynn here with a dream catcher handmade card for the Unity Stamp Co. blog hop.

Sentiment:  Dream.

For this card, I stamped onto watercolor paper with waterproof ink and then masked the edges of the card front.  I allowed portions of the stamped image to extend into the frame area.  The dream catcher was lightly colored with Copic markers.  I then added layers of distress oxide ink for the background.  I lightly spritzed the card front with water.  Removing the masking tape leaves a white frame look.  For the top portion, I made a gold embossed sentiment topper on vellum.  Finally, I finished with adhesive pearl accents.

Here is a quick video tutorial for this dream catcher card.

Here are the stamp kits used and they are linked further down in this post.

Ugly Sweater Theme Pencil Topper

This time of year, I make more than just cards.
Today, I am sharing an ugly or tacky sweater themed pencil topper.

It is decorated with Christmas trees on the sweater as well as on the decorative paper and tulle was added.
The tacky sweater is a drawing by my husband Bob, since I didn't have a Christmas sweater stamp on hand.
Special occasions:  Ugly Sweater party favors, holiday bunco pencils and stocking stuffers.

Link Ups:
Moxie Fab World Challenge "Tree-mendous Trees"
The Crafting Cafe November "Not A Card"
Love to Create #141 "Anything Goes"
Pile It On #45 "Special Occasion"

Tutorial:
The tag base is a basic shape and shadow from Cricut. I added a layered circle tag with the image on it, then punched holes at the top and bottom of the tag.  To dress it up a little more, tulle was added with a green pencil.

Thank you for visiting. :)
