Teapots slimline card ~ Soften the edges tutorial

Today, I am sharing a sweet tea themed slimline card.  It features teapots all in a row.  I share a technique to soften the edges using ink blending.

Sentiment:
Let's catch up over a cuppa tea.

Helpful tips:

To create this card, first cut and score a card base.  Next, die-cut or trim slimline or tall card layers in different colors of card stock.  Then, stamp and trim the teapot panel with Copic friendly ink.  For color, add Copics in layers or your markers of choice.  To soften the edges, add a bit of ink blending in white pigment ink around the edges of each color cardstock layer.  Use a disposable foam blending applicator if using pigment ink.  This adds a softer look to the finished card.  Finally, layer everything with flat and foam double-sided tape, to finish.

Note:  Slimline dies vary by brand in size.  For this card, I trimmed the card base a bit larger than the largest card layer.
For this card base:  cut at 7 1/2" x 7 1/2", score at 3 3/4".

I made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.

Open framed window gnome card inside & out ~ card tutorial

Today, I am sharing a cute open framed window card featuring an adorable gnome.  This one has a get well theme.

Sentiment:
Get well wishes for a friend like gnome other.

Helpful tips:

To create this card, begin by stamping onto the front of an A2 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" folded card front.  Stamp the gnome and the sentiment using Copic friendly ink, with enough room to cut out the gnome portion.  Next, die-cut the gnome from the stamped portion only on the front card panel.  Also, nesting two square layering dies together over black cardstock creates a frame to use at the end.  Then, remove the gnome die-cut piece and color in the stamping.  I used Copic markers.  Next, place the gnome piece inside of the open frame of the closed card base to adhere it to the inside panel.  Then, using glue, carefully adhere the black frame around the open front card panel.  Finally, to finish, reinforce the bottom front panel with a strip of heavy cardstock.  My video will show the process.

Here is a look at the closed card front.

And here is a view of the inside of the card.

I made a quick video tutorial showing the process for this project.

Scene building tutorial ~ nature card background

Card scene building adds interest to stamping.  Today, on the Unity blog, I am sharing a way to make an outdoor nature background with mountains for this buffalo card.  This works as a masculine card or for anyone.

Sentiment:  Have a stompin' great birthday.

This buffalo stamp is amazing and so detailed.  I gave him a background using masking and ink blending to create card scene building.

Helpful tips:

Here are helpful tips for adding card scene building to stamping.  To begin, stamp the buffalo with Copic friendly ink and also, stamp the HB2U accent tag.  Then, stamp the sentiment near the bottom of the inside liner.  Next, make an A2 card base from color cardstock then trim away about one inch from the bottom of the top fold.  Also, trim a scene panel to fit the top portion of the card base.  Then, add color to the buffalo.  Fussy cut (cut out) the buffalo.  Next, trim or die-cut cardstock slopes or mountain pieces to use as masking for the background scene.  Place a mountain shaped mask piece in the center of the scene panel and add distress ink blending to the top and the bottom of that mask piece.  Aso, mask the top and bottom of the scene to blend color for the mountain section.  Finally, assemble the card pieces and the accents onto the inside and the front of the card, to finish.

Here is another look.

Whimsical stamped bee pun card & patterned paper ~ tutorial

For this sweet pun card, I am mixing patterned paper and stamping.  I tried coordinating the sweet bees, flowers and sentiments to fit in with the background paper colors.

Sentiment:
Bee you tiful You.

Helpful tips:

Here are helpful tips for making this pun card.  First, trim and score the card base and the layers.  Next, stamp the sentiment, the small flower and the bees close together onto white cardstock.  Then, cut the stamped panel smaller than the background.  Also, cut the patterned paper just shy of the size of the card base.  Next, color in the bees and the stamped flowers.  Optional, add a big YOU word or a die-cut accent.  Finally, layer the panels onto the card base, to finish.
