~♥ Art/Craft Room Hutch ♥~

I thought I'd give you a tour of my art/craft room hutch.  The hutch was bought at an antique mall.  It is the perfect size for this small room.  It's filled with gifts from friends and things I have found while out thrifting.

A few of my favorite books from Susan BranchKarla Dornacher, and Katie Daisy. I love their artwork.  If you're not familiar with them, click on their names and you'll be taken to their websites.  You won’t be disappointed.

~♥ For The Love of Cats ♥~

For as long as I can remember, I have had a fondness for cats. Growing up I always had cats.  Bootsie was my first cat.  Then came Kitty, Maggie, Skeeter, and Shadow.  Then came Cali with her babies Chewy, Tink, Lil Mama, and Bubba who became our barn kitties.

Back in 20015, Mia was welcomed into our Home. She was a cuddly kitten who followed me around like I was her Mama. She was my constant companion.  I always hated leaving her when I had to be at work.  I was only gone for 4 hours a day several times a week. Then in 2016 we welcomed Stella into our Home.  At first Mia wasn't so sure about this kitten who didn't understand personal space.  Eventually they became good friends and constant companions.

Baby Mia

Mia who also loves Susan Branch like I do.

~♥ Let There Be Light ♥~

One of the first things I do when I get up in the early morning (5 am - I’m an early bird) is to plug in my lights at my kitchen sink.  I find great comfort in the warm glow. My first cup of coffee, lighting a candle, and sitting in silence all bring me comfort as I start my day.

We are all going through difficult and uncertain times right now.  Seeing things on social media or the news can increase our stress and anxiety. That is why I’ve made it my mission to seek out what gives me HOPE, PEACE, and COMFORT.

“They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for.”
― Tom Bodett

“Learning to distance yourself from all the negativity is one of the greatest lessons to achieve inner peace.”
― Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart

“As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful. They are the things that fill our lives with comfort and our hearts with gladness -- just the pure air to breathe and the strength to breath it; just warmth and shelter and home folks; just plain food that gives us strength; the bright sunshine on a cold day; and a cool breeze when the day is warm.”

~♥ Hello ♥~

Hello friends, how have you been?  I hope you all are doing well considering everything that is happening in the world. Our county in Pennsylvania is on a Stay At Home order. Considering that we live and work at a private estate, life here is pretty much the same. I’m glad I’m a homebody. I’ve only ventured out to the pharmacy and for absolutely necessary items at the grocery store.

I’ve decided that now might be a good time to get back to blogging. When I first started back in 2006 I absolutely loved it. I then got away from it when Instagram came around. I’m now ready to jump back into it again.

So glad you stopped by!

~♥ Porch Views ♥~

This is the home where my husband grew up. This home is part of a 700 acre private estate where we live and work.  My Father in law and Mother in law were only 19 & 20 when they first moved in. It looked a lot different then. My FIL took care of the grounds/pool/gardens and my MIL was the housekeeper. They did this for 48 years. My husband was also a full time employee after he graduated in 1983. When the owners of the estate passed away and it was sold, my In-laws retired and moved out of the farmhouse. My husband was offered the position of head caretaker by the new owners and I became their housekeeper. We then moved into the farmhouse. We have been here for 14 years.  Living here has been a dream come true.

To me, there's nothing better than a front porch.  Growing up I spent a lot e time on my parents' front porch where I enjoyed the old porch swing that was made by my Grand Pap.  Here's a little tour of my front porch.

Geraniums are a favorite flower of mine.
This black bench was made by my husband when he was in high school.
I just love ferns.  I have four of them hanging on my porch from April/May until the end of October.  They always seem to do well for me.  I fertilize them once a week to keep them nice and green.

I hope you've enjoyed this little tour.  Thanks for stopping by.
