Hello Alhassan Mohammed Awal. A page you recently created was outside of Meta's scope and has been deleted or will be deleted soon; you might be looking for Wikipedia instead. In future, please remember that Meta exists for the documentation of the Wikimedia projects and that off-topic material is not accepted here. Thanks for your understanding. Art+Feminism: Feb 15 online edit-a-thon campaign launch and upcoming conversations
[edit]We have some exciting events coming up that we’d love to share with you!
At Art+Feminism, we believe that as feminist editors, our strength is in collective action. When we edit together, we share resources, knowledge, and skills; in doing so, we form a defense against harassment within the Wikiverse and beyond. Alongside our initiatives to close diversity gaps and create a safer Wikipedia, Art+Feminism remains committed to doing our part. This year that includes creating more virtual spaces for us to connect with one another, share knowledge, and edit together.
To start, join Art+Feminism and Wiki Editoras Lx on 15 February to discuss and practice strategies for collective editing. This event kicks off our series of virtual editing tables for our Year 11 campaign. You can see our full schedule here and register today.
We’ll also be hosting two special conversations: Online & On the Ground: Abortion Activism in Maryland and Collective Imagination + Radical Futures: Kansas City Organizers on Making Art & Building Power. These online events are open to all and we hope to see you there!
If you’d like to join the campaign by hosting your own A+F event but haven’t yet, it’s not too late! You can view our campaign resources here and send us an email to let us know you’re joining.

Shayi ngolu (talk) 08:33, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your question, Shayi ngolu. Let me first of all mention that I became a Wikimedian owing to my passion for supporting indigenous and underrepresented communities in documenting their culture, traditions and general information on the Internet space and share them with the rest of the world just so they may be left behind. For that matter, my vision for the movement is clear in the following ways:
- As I mentioned above, the heart of my vision for the Wikimedia movement is inclusivity, where every culture and language is represented, celebrated, and preserved. Wikimedia’s mission to provide free access to the sum of human knowledge aligns deeply with my belief that minority languages and cultures hold unique perspectives that must be shared globally. My goal is to ensure that underrepresented voices, particularly those speaking minority languages, have a stronger presence within Wikimedia’s ecosystem.
- To achieve this, I envision a movement that actively supports and empowers local communities to contribute content in their languages, building knowledge that resonates with their lived experiences. I believe the Wikimedia Foundation can become an even stronger bridge, linking diverse cultures and offering tools that facilitate contributions in all languages, no matter how small the community. This way, we prevent the erosion of indigenous knowledge and foster a global understanding that is truly multilingual.
- My Contribution to Advancing the Strategy?
- As a long-time volunteer and community leader within Wikimedia, my work has always focused on bridging gaps—especially with minority language communities. I’ve spearheaded initiatives such as setting up Ghanaian language Wikipedias and helping them to attain live statuses, advocating for resources that support linguistic diversity, and collaborating with cultural institutions to bring historical artifacts online. My current project ‘Unearthing Ghana’s Hidden Heritage’ exemplifies my dedication to preserving cultural history through Wikimedia platforms.
- I also recognize the importance of empowering local user groups. As an administrator and leader, I have actively worked with communities to create sustainable growth strategies, focusing on mentorship, capacity building, and the inclusion of minority language content. I am committed to ensuring these user groups receive the support they need to thrive—from technical assistance to funding for projects that can uplift underrepresented languages.
- Once again, thank you for the question and I am on a standby for any further clarifications that you may need from me. Alhassan Mohammed Awal (talk) 12:30, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
