Global rollback for Stanglavine
- Global user: Stanglavine (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 17 February 2019 16:44 UTC
- Hello, I've been working more and more with cross-wiki vandalism, mostly via IRC, but it's been a lot of work and time-consuming to use the undo function, so I'd like to be able to use the rollback. I really wanted to be able to use SWViewer as well. Rafael (stanglavine) msg 16:44, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

- Weak support Cross-wiki contributions are organized in the same languages and many are not small wiki (distribution). Finally, the number of wiki makes the difference (even with only one edition on the project). Good continuation. --Eihel (talk) 21:38, 12 February 2019 (UTC)

- Neutral Nothing against you personally, but I note that the matrix (here defined as the number of edits on non-home wikis) is lower than what I normally see for such a role. I should also note that you have requested a similar permission on en.wikibooks. Leaderboard (talk) 15:39, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Leaderboard: Yes, because the en.wikibooks is one of the specific wikis where most encounter vandalism. But if the request here is approved, the request there no longer makes sense. Rafael (stanglavine) msg 17:01, 14 February 2019 (UTC)

- Oppose, good activity today, however, I do not think "For consideration, users must be demonstrably active in cross-wiki countervandalism or anti-spam activities (for example, as active members of the Small Wiki Monitoring Team) and make heavy use of revert on many wikis." is fulfilled, since SWMT work has mainly happened today and on only a handful other days in January and February of this year. I wish to see more continuous activity, so that I can properly evaluate your work. Please keep up the activity of today and return in a month or two. The reason is I already needed such permission on frwikt, frwiki and enwiki because I contribute using VPN and sometimes through the Tor network. Hello, My name is Taher, I'm an editor and sysop in Arabic-wiki (my home wiki). On ar.wiki we suffer in many occasions from user names that violates our local username policy, and I help (very active) in follow-up unaccepted usernames (Mainly on Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention). Unfortunately, user:فيصل (Faisal) resigned and now علاء (Alaa) is the only active one on rename page on arwiki (which make a great load on one user). Since I'm available on a daily basis on ar.wiki, and there doesn't seem to be a reason that would prevent me from participating daily for the time being, so I believe I can help in this issue. - In a very rare instance for me, I am concerned about rapid accumulation and requesting of permissions here. The user is a sysop on all of the small sr projects since 2018, but is not particularly active on any of them. This is the third permission that the user has requested on Meta-Wiki today. Given that the sysop tools have not been widely used, I don't think you have enough experience for me to judge whether you would be able to correctly interpret and implement renaming policies and use the access appropriately. – Ajraddatz (talk) 18:04, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

Currently there are some username policies on sdwiki and we don't have enabled Sindhi keyboard for sdwiki, so new users create usernames which are not in local username policy, I request Global rename permission, so I may manage this issue and help existing & new users for user renaming as per sdwiki username policy. thanks JogiAsad (talk) 00:40, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
Support There is a clear need for this permission from the user. There are no objections. —AlvaroMolina (✉ - ✔) 00:52, 10 February 2019 (UTC)- Neutral Per Concerns in English Wikipedia. —AlvaroMolina (✉ - ✔) 18:16, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
- Neutral Mixed impression, Might be a good candidate, but looking at a recent block on English wiki I am hesitant to support. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 04:14, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose per recent block on en.wiki. As anyone who follows the renamer list knows, our big current issue is renamers unfamiliar with local projects renaming users from those projects without taking into account local policy or norms. Someone who has a block for violating a TBAN on en by definition has a record of not following local policy of a major wiki that is not their home wiki. I cannot support at this time. TonyBallioni (talk) 04:21, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose per TonyBallioni. Also, a "clear need" is always hard to prove when you represent a small wiki and intend to use a global permission for that. --Rschen7754 05:59, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
- Wait a moment, nowhere in their nomination statement they said they are doing global queues and we don't know the size of backlog on their homewiki. Small wikis may have large backlogs, I know CSD is one but UC? Can't we wait for them to answer these before we oppose? Thanks much!--Cohaf (talk) 06:33, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
- We have to assume that they can be trusted with global queues because we can't restrict someone from not doing them. It would be like restricting an admin from using the block tool. I also don't think a wiki that gets less than 20 edits a day has a huge username change backlog. --Rschen7754 08:21, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
- Point taken but I still hope they will answer as they seems to say there's lots of inappropriate username accounts that needs renaming and that is sort of demonstrated need. I hope to understand slightly more about that.--Cohaf (talk) 08:53, 10 February 2019 (UTC)

- Neutral I don't care much of the fact that you represent a small wiki, but you shouldn't have violated the en.wiki topic ban; this shows a lack of policy understanding which is unfortunately required in a role like this. Leaderboard (talk) 14:30, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
- Support --Novak Watchmen (talk) 17:19, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
- Neutral I may not have the time to comeback to wait for an answer. I think since there are topic ban of admins for doing something, there can also be probably restrictions of GR for not doing some renames. What I am concerned is that there is little demonstrated need and not very convinced that my questions are not answered in time. So neutral. I probably won't have the chance to further comment on this. --Cohaf (talk) 17:53, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose per TonyBallioni, and from what I've seen of them in relation to their topic ban on enwiki, I'm not sure if they'd be able to properly respond to any queries/questions regarding renames that they do. Galobtter (talk) 11:01, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose. As much as I'd like an sdwiki renamer unfortunately Tony makes a good point about your behaviour and don't feel you can serve as a renamer particularly well. Hiàn (talk) 20:50, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose per above. Concerns with recent behavior -FASTILY 04:39, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
- Neutral per Leaderboard on violated the en.wiki topic ban. DARIO SEVERI (talk) 00:40, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- Neutral Because he also edit on Urdu wiki which is definitely not a small wiki, meanwhile, I know Sindhi language is still family of Arab language and can understand one another with all of these combined he can actually edits on a wiki with more than 1 million article (with just his language skill alone), so Rschen7754 concern about "he's editing on small wiki" is unfounded as I know trafic for arabic and urdu wiki is actually big, the only concern I have is, that, he can't understand what is Topic Ban due to the difference of practice between wikis.--AldNonymousBicara? 13:07, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- 586 edits? I have 650+ on French Wikipedia and I don't even speak the language. --Rschen7754 19:20, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- You completely missed the point, for example, he only have 1 edit on ar.wikipedia, but he can speak the language.--AldNonymousBicara? 19:30, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- I don't consider 586 edits on a different wiki sufficient need for global renamer. --Rschen7754 19:50, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- That's why I gave it neutral comment, I saw unused/wasted potential, but also problematic behavior on en.wp. He's a sindhi speaker, which means he can understand arabic, persian (farsi language) and hindi at the same time, how wonderful was that? How big the population of India, Arabic countries and Iran combined again? A serious waste of potential! This is my point of view, hope you understand this Rschen7754, this is why I think he is "not a small wiki" editor, but a potential editor of "multiple small and medium wikis", you saw the glass is half empty, I saw this glass is half full, it's just that.--AldNonymousBicara? 20:16, 19 February 2019 (UTC)

As a user who has experience in bringing down spam through filters, I'm interested in analysing the abuse filters of MetaWiki (especially ones with global effects and private) to see how it could be improved. - Global user: Sophivorus (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Discussion: Hi! Some time ago I requested and received a global editinterface permission for several reasons, but the main one was that I had a grant to develop and spread the ProveIt gadget. Recently I requested a second grant to enhance the gadget and even though it still isn't officially approved, it's getting a lot of support, and even if it isn't approved, I'm getting requests to fix some pretty severe new bugs with the gadget that I cannot fix efficiently without permission to edit the gadget's code. The gadget involves JavaScript, CSS and JSON, so I would need all three permissions to be able to work efficiently. In my previous request I link to my background in the community, which has since only increased. Thanks for reading! Felipe (talk) 18:25, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
- So, this is request for a global interface editor permission? Ruslik (talk) 20:07, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Ruslik0: yes, that is the request that is being made. I Support the application for rights and note that it is akin to renewal where no problems have been raised with the user's previous use, and there is a community desire for their deployed gadget. — billinghurst sDrewth 21:18, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

Two-factor authentication testers for Benipal hardarshan

I would like to apply for the 2FA test feature to harden my account security, as I am going to be an admin and as to require more security. Thank you very much! --*•.¸♡ ℍ𝕒𝕣𝕕𝕒𝕣𝕤𝕙𝕒𝕟 𝔹𝕖𝕟𝕚𝕡𝕒𝕝 ♡¸.•*𝕋𝕒𝕝𝕜 04:06, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
- You do not need this right if you are an admin. All administrators can enable 2FA. Leaderboard (talk) 18:16, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
- They do not hold sysop rights anywhere Leaderboard.--Cohaf (talk) 08:00, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
- Not yet, but they soon will have IA (see his request for that position). Leaderboard (talk) 09:38, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
- However, before being an IA you need 2FA to be activated, so this right is still needed for a while, isn't it?--Cohaf (talk) 09:50, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
- As I said over there, this temporary granting of OAuthtester is meaningless. There is no more security risk if interface-admin right is first granted and then the user is asked to immediately enable 2FA. Leaderboard (talk) 09:52, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
