Activities

[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. What content will the contest focus on, and why is it important to your community?

The contest will focus on the quality of uploaded photos. This is important to Armenian wiki community because it is aimed at closing the Earth gap” in Wikimedia projects, adding quality photos to articles about nature and natural monuments.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.

You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

Wikimedia communities will get to know about this proposal through the following pages:
  1. Armenian Wikipedia Village Pump page
  2. Wiki Loves…Facebook group
  3. Armenian Wikipedia Facebook page

3. How will you let participants know about the contest? In what ways will you be communicating with them?

For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

Different social media platforms will be used for the communication:
  1. Wiki Loves… Facebook group
  2. Armenian Wikipedia Facebook page
  3. Armenian Wikipedia Village Pump page
  4. Wikimedia Armenia Facebook page

  6. My Photo Tour - Armenia Facebook group
  7. Communication with educational institutions’ photography faculties and photography

4. How will you judge the contest and award prizes?

Note: Grantees, judges, and other contest leaders are ineligible to receive prizes. Grantees who are serving as judges may not receive gifts through grant funding.

The jury consisting of international and local judges will judge the contest and decide the winners.
There will be two stages before the jury starts judging the photos:
  1. The photos will be filtered based on technical issues/quality
  2. Compliance of the photos with the context of the contest

5. For photo contests, what is the strategy to get images used on projects?

Before the contest, two workshops are planned during which the participants will learn how to upload photos on Wikimedia Commons and how to add them to corresponding Wikipedia articles and pages.

6. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

There will be five photo walks each engaging 15 participants.
Also, besides the workshop on uploading photos and adding them to Wikipedia articles, there will be another special workshop on how to take good quality photos and how to develop them.

7. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

There will be five photowalks so here is the risk assessment result.
