Miss Molly's Birthday

Happy 12th birthday to Miss Molly!

Molly was a very pale red heeler.
You can see Ginger keeping an eye on her.

Ginger showing Molly how to keep guard
at the top of the driveway.

Having fun with Rex at the beach.
Birthday bones to celebrate for Molly and Rex.
Molly is a bit of a grumpy old girl now
and is always telling Rex off,
even if he isn't doing anything!
But they love hanging out together.

Nelson, FNWF, A Christmas Party And Baking!

Friday saw Nelson get his manual license. He was one very excited boy!
Now we have to do the "Five Car Shuffle" each day, making sure that
the first person out in the morning is at the back. Until now we had one car in the garage and three across the front. Having that fifth car makes it trickier.
I started my FNWF while I was sitting at VicRoads while
Nelson had a driving lesson prior to his test.
I stitched on the labels on three new Santa Sacks.
I also make a scissor fob.
My sewing set is now complete.
Just need to buy a little pair of scissors and it's already to be
wrapped up to give as a Christmas present.
Today (Sunday) Nelson and I took Molly and Rex to Dog Obedience Club for the Christmas Party. There were lots of games and ribbons. Molly won a ribbon for the dog who could bark on command. She did it at the side but as soon as I went into the centre, she wouldn't! As soon as we left the centre, she barked again.
She must have had stage fright! Rex won "Most Active Dog"!
They both got a Christmas bag filled with rope toys and doggie treats.
Plus some lollies for their humans.
Saturday I started the Christmas baking.
 Three loaves of almond bread.
Today I did the second baking.
All ready to pack up for gifts!
Thanks to Chez for hosting us on Friday night.

2018 Pets On Quilts

Hi Everyone, It's Molly here.
Yay, we made it to the show.
We missed out last year as Mum was really busy.
The parade is organised by Snoodles at Lily Pad Quilting.
I want to introduce you to Rex. He is my new brother.
Rex is an American Staffordshire Terrier cross.
We found him at the RSPCA in November and he was only 11 weeks old.
Now I know how Ginger felt when I came to live at MacDonald's Patch.
Rex was a bit annoying at times (and sometimes still is)!
This is the first time we met each other. We got on well
and Rex then came to live with us in his forever home.
Rex is a  funny dog. He likes to sit in all sorts of places.
But our favourite place is the couch.
We keep swapping sides!
It looks like all we do is sleep on the couch but we do go outside to play too.
Last month I fell off the couch and dislocated my hip. I had to go to
the vet and had a big operation but I'm getting better now.
Rex kept me company all the time and he knew I couldn't run
around like we normally do. He would keep coming to check on me.
But Rex was a bit of a naughty boy when he first came.
He chewed some holes in Mum's quilts.
He chewed the corner off here.
 And on this quilt too!
Lucky they're not heirloom quilts, just ones for everyday use.
Not like Mum's new heirloom Double Wedding Ring quilt.
Neither of us are allowed on or anywhere near this one!
It's been lovely talking to you and I hope you liked meeting Rex.
Thank you to Snoodles, Padsworth and Dragondrop for organising another fun
Pets On Quilts Show. You can see all the other lovely pets here.

Soon it will be time to vote for your favourite pets.
Rex and I are entered in the Dogs on Quilts category.
There are lots of prizes from lots of fabulous sponsors.
You might even win a random prize yourself.

Woofy hugs,
Molly and Rex

Poor Molly!

About three or so weeks ago, Molly fell off the couch awkwardly.
We took her to the emergency vet and was told "it was probably a torn ligament
or something to do with her knee. See how she goes in a few days".

She didn't seem to be improving so we took her to our normal vet.
Turned out she had dislocated her hip. The vets were amazed as they usually
see this kind of injury in dogs that have been hit by a car.
She was operated on the following week. To keep her quiet for the first
few days, Molly stayed in the play room. Rex kept an eye on her.
Once Molly was back in the lounge, Rex kept her company.
He was so good with her as he knew Molly wasn't well.
Molly has been coming along nicely. Although last week when someone took her collar off for a little while and forgot to keep an eye on her, Molly managed to removed four stitches. So back to the vet but they weren't too concerned as she was healing nicely. After only five days, she was already resting her foot on the ground which the vet was very pleased to see. The stitches come out in the next couple of days and the collar off on the weekend. Bet Molly can't wait for that!

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's Off To Work He Goes!

It doesn't seem that long ago that Nelson headed off on his first day of school.
Before we knew it, seven years went by and he was off to his first day of secondary.
Today he headed off on his first day as an apprentice roof plumber.
After several weeks of sleeping in since finishing school, this morning he had an extra early start - 5.30am! He was pretty excited as they were heading down Geelong way.
When he was working with them as part of his VCAL, he never got to go to the beach jobs. Although I don't think they'll be going down to the beach.

My baby is now officially a tradie!
Just because he is so cute, thought I'd share a couple of photos of Rex and Molly.
Waiting patiently for Nelson to get his shoes to go on a walk.
A busy Monday afternoon!
These two get on so well. They divide their time playing,
running around the back yard and sleeping.

FNWF And Other Things!

I joined Cheryll and the girls last night for Friday Night With Friends. I did a little stitching on my bee table runner.
 Rex checking out my stitching!
I also tried getting the pin cushion to sit nicely in this jar.
I wasn't very successful and put it away
to try again another time.
Thanks for hosting us last night, Chez.
I was the lucky winner of October's Friday Night Sew-In with Wendy at Sugarlane Designs. Thank you for
the lovely charm pack, Wendy.
I also received a lovely gift from Maria  over at Life On The Block. It has gone straight to my "Blogging Friends Christmas Tree"! Thank you Maria.
Rex has been having fun exploring the garden.
The other night he fell in the pond but got himself
out pretty quickly. No fish were hurt!
Molly and Rex have been getting on very well. They play all day and are great company for each other.
I've done the first baking of the almond bread.
Now to slice it and do the second baking.

I've also been trying to update my blog. A long time ago I seem to have lost my background and header.
I've tried putting a new one on but no luck. Maybe it's just me! I'm not very technical. Hopefully, I can get it done as my blog looks terrible.

Well, I'm off to the sewing room to put seven Santa sacks together for the great nieces and nephews.
Have a great weekend everyone.
