WOYWW #9

Although it's Hallween and I should have some super awesome tutorial.  Unfortunately, with our big move I didn't even have a chance to do any fun Halloween crafts this year!!  *frown*

I do, however, have a brand new edition of WOYWW (What's on Your Work-desk Wednesday)!!  The twist is that I'm not showing you my desk or even a work station.  I'm showing off my new craft room...err...I mean...my future new craft room!!

My hubby & I moved into a new home this past week and I was able to claim and entire room for my crafts!!  I already have soooo many plans for this bare space and I can't wait to get started setting it up!!  Let's get to the new room...

That wall is going to be mostly storage.  I'm going to add another black shelving unit against the back wall and a different, more decorative shelving unit to the right of the current industrial shelves.

That's my little sewing table and funky stool that needs replacing.  You can also see the industrial shelves pretty well in this picture...they work great for me!!

This closet is going to store my Etsy shoppe inventory and will have 3 smaller shelving units inside.

So far, I know the layout and I'm pretty sure on the rooms color scheme...

I'd love to hear your ideas on how to decorate this crafty space!!
Send me your ideas because I'm ready to get started!!

Thanks for reading!!  Until next time...

A Tour of Our New House

What a crazy summer this has been!!  I don't know about you, but I simply cannot believe it's the end of October already!!  I had so many plans for great Halloween projects & tutorials and I'm totally bummed that they're going to have to wait until next year!!

The good news is that my hubby, my cat, and I have moved into a much bigger home!!  We decided to move to the base where my hubby works because the hour-long commute each way was taking it's toll on him.  Now we live about 10 minutes from his work!!  The down side is that we're only going to get to enjoy this house for about a year before it will be time for him to transfer again.

Here's a quick tour of the new home in it's current state...

FOYER
This is standing just outside of the Foyer looking towards the front door.  There's not much here, but I figured I'd show it to you anyway.

HALLWAY
This is our ridiculously long hallway!! It goes from the front door to the wall of the Master Bedroom at the back of the house.

DINING ROOM
This is a photo looking in from the Foyer.  As you can see our little dining room table is way too small for this room.
This shot is looking in from the Kitchen.  Those boxes are all kitchen items that need to be put into the cabinets, drawers, & pantry.

LIVING ROOM
This view is looking into the Living Room from the Foyer.

As many of you know, I'm disabled and spend 98% of my time in my home.  This will be the room where I spend my days working on my Etsy shoppe and blogging.
This photo was taken from the Hallway, right next to the Kitchen.

KITCHEN
This is the left side of the kitchen and just so you know, this is giant compared to our old galley-style kitchen!!
This is the right side of the Kitchen looking towards the Breakfast Bar which looks into the Family Room.  Again, lots of boxes to be put away!!

FAMILY ROOM
Looking through the Breakfast Bar area into the Family Room.
A photo from the Hallway looking towards the right side of the Family Room.
Another angle which shows the left side of the Family Room and the Breakfast Bar.

LAUNDRY ROOM
Although it's not really a "room", I'm calling this area the Laundry Room!!  I think it has great potential!!

SPARE BEDROOM
Although this is going to be a Spare Bedroom at some point, right now it's just a holding area for my craft supplies!!  Yes, those boxes are all craft supplies!!

CRAFT ROOM
This picture is looking in from the Hallway.  All of the items and boxes you see there are for my Etsy shoppe.
Here's the big closet I get to stuff with craft supplies or Etsy shoppe inventory!!

OFFICE
This is Hubby's office.  Not much more to say about this room.

MASTER BEDROOM
Sorry this photo is kind of blurry.  This is the last main room of the house.  I would've shown a couple different angles, but I wasn't sure if Hubby would want me showing our personal space in great detail!!

To us, this house is a mansion!!  We've never been so lucky to have a home this big!!  To put this in perspective for you, our last home was literally 1/2 the square footage of this house!!  We're so happy to be living here!!

From now on, I'm taking you along on this new journey...  You'll get to follow us as we unpack, organize, and eventually decorate this new home of ours!!

I'm going to need your input and ideas at every turn because I've never been good at home decorating!!  If you've already come up with some ideas while looking at the photos, please comment below and share them!!  I need all of the help I can get!!

Thanks for reading!!  Until next time...

Guest Post: My Favorite Finds (Hall Closet Organization)

Today, Carrie from My Favorite Finds is going to share how to organize a smaller hall closet.  You're going to love her "secret organizing weapon"!!  I'm going to let Carrie take it from here...

Hi everyone at Lisa's Craft Blog!  I'm Carrie, and I blog over at My Favorite Finds.  It's my little part of the blogosphere where I share crafts, recipes, organizational tips, menu planning, and more.  I host two weekly link parties.

Photobucket

Must Try Mondays is for those who want to share their favorite recipes.  Wednesday Pinterest Favorites is for crafts, food, DIY, remodels, almost anything you have "pinned", you want to try, or is "pin worthy".   I hope you'll stop by and join in the fun.

Today I am so excited to be sharing with you my easy, inexpensive organization project~~our hall closet.

Wow!! Who knew that organizing our hall closet could be so easy and inexpensive?  Not me!

Here is what we started with:

Coats shoved in too tight.

Reusable bags, my purse, a trumpet, and boots on the floor
Hats, gloves, scarves in bins on top {where the kids can't reach}.  It's also home to the church activity bag and misc other things.

Enter the {secret} organizing weapon.....
The Over the Door Organizer!  From Amazon!!
And here is my second organizing {weapon}
The two year old helper :)

This project took me about 45 minutes to complete.  I started by taking EVERYTHING out, and deciding where to go from there.  I had purchased the organizer with the intention of storing hats, gloves, etc. in it.

I was able to donate some hats and gloves, put the backpack cooler away {in the basement...not  many zoo trips this time of year}, and arrange things so the kids could get to them.

Tutorial: Lace Storage Solution (& WOYWW #4)

My love of lace had recently caused me a big problem... how in the world to store it all!!

At first, I had the lace rolled up in little zip lock baggies and stored in plastic shoe bins, like the rest of my craft supplies.  However, after my latest order of lace, I would've needed to use over 6 plastic containers to store it all!!  I just didn't have enough shelf space for that.

Out of necessity, I finally figured out a better storage method and today I'm going to share with you my Lace Storage Solution.

SUPPLIES
Plastic back-of-the-door shoe organizer
5+ sheets of 12"x12" chipboard
Paper slicer or scissors
Lace/trim to be stored

Step 1: CUT CHIPBOARD CARDS
Cut the chipboard sheets into cards that measure 3"x9".
You should be able to get 5 cards from each 12"x12" sheet of chipboard.

Step 2: WRAP LACE ON CARDS
Wrap your lace/trim on the chipboard cards as shown above.

Continue wrapping until all of your lace/trim is on cards.

Step 3: HANG SHOE ORGANIZER
Hang the plastic shoe organizer on the back of your door.

Step 4: ADD CARDS TO POCKETS
Place the lace-wrapped chipboard cards into the organizer pockets.
Note: I had so many cards full of lace that I had to put 2 cards in some of the pockets.  They did fit.

FINISHED!!

WOYWW #4

My hubby is out of town for a couple weeks and then I'm having my surgery so my mum is staying with me for over a month.  YAY!!  I'm absolutely loving having her here with me and will miss her terribly when she eventually has to go back home.

Since my mum needs something to do while I obsessively craft, I let her use my lap desk and laptop, which is my usual "work desk".  Here she is playing her games on my laptop...

As for me, I'm using a wooden painting station as my "work desk" and it's working out quite well!!

You can see the many projects I'm currently working on in the photo above.  Here's the list of what's on this little "lap desk"...
1) Wooden bird houses to alter
2) Clothes pins to make into magnets
3) A heart-shaped box to paint & decorate
4) Beads for pea pod pendants
I absolutely have crafting ADD!!  I can't just work on one or two projects at a time, I usually have about 5 going at once!! hehehe

For those that are new to my blog and my WOYWW, the reason I don't have a "real" work desk is because I'm disabled and spend most of my time in my recliner.  My lap desk and arms of the recliner are my work area.

A Big Thank You & A Felt Storage Tip

I want to take a moment and say a big "Thank You" to...

My readers and followers...
Without you, there would be no Lisa's Craft Blog!!  It's because of my readers that I take the time and put in the effort to write the posts and tutorials.  I appreciate each and every one of you that take time out of your day to visit my little corner of the blogosphere.  It really means the world to me!!

Those that comment on my posts...
Each comment I receive brightens my day more than I can express.  Your compliments are so encouraging to read and the ideas you add to my projects are so very inspiring!!  I truly love getting each and every comment!!

Bloggers that feature my projects & blog...
I definitely need to thank the blogs that have featured my projects since November.  I get so (ridiculously) excited each time one of my tutorials is featured on another blog...it's actually kinda funny how happy it makes me!! hehehe

Here are all of the blogs that featured my projects over the past 2 months!!  Please check each of them out because they totally rock!!

Today, Terri from A Creative Princess was kind enough to publish an entire post totally dedicated to my little craft blog!!  She is so sweet for saying all of the super nice things about my blog in her post today!!  Please take a moment to visit A Creative Princess!!

FELT STORAGE TIP

I've actually been storing my felt this way for quite some time and today I finally realized that you would probably want to see this nifty little idea too!!

I started by stacking my sheets of felt in color order.  Once my stack got to be about 8" tall, I grabbed a $1 reusable grocery bag that I had on hand and turned it on it's side.  I put the stack of felt inside the bag in the stack and then started on my next 8" stack.  When I had that stack ready I added it to the pile in the bag.  I did this until all of my felt was stacked inside the bag and then turned the back right-side up.

Ta-Da!!  Portable and organized felt storage!!

Thanks for reading!! Until next time!!
