Challenge in a Box

Evening,

Every now and then a new 'Challenge' arrives on my doorstep from the wonderful Janice and Andy at SirStampalot. I came home today to find one waiting for me. It is always such fun to open and root through all the fabulous goodies inside and get it always gets my creative juices flowing.

Tonights card was created from one such box of goodies.
The box contained background papers, a stamp set and matching dies.....among other things.
I used the die to cut the black flowers and then added a few of the tiny stamped flowers to the square panels.
I am always allowed free rein to add any extra bits and pieces that I choose, although I try to use items from Creative Expressions which are easy for them to get hold of. Here I added stamped sentiments from a set designed by Jane Gill.
So you can see what I will be up to over the next couple of weeks. :O)
Thanks for stopping by.

Another Twofer, but Which Comes First?

Afternoon,

Here are another couple of cards made recently for the lovely Janice and Andy at SirStampalot.

Now, I do love a Twofer, but which card came first?
I guess in a way this one did, although it was actually made with leftovers. I die cut the frame from white cardstock and placed it on top of a piece of white card in order to colour it using brown distress inks and a blending brush.
While adding colour to the die cut, it ends up becoming a stencil. And by using a piece of white card to work on instead of my craft sheet, I ended up with a readymade background for my second card.
I trimmed around the stenciled panel and added it to a card front along with some diecut strips, floral embellishments and a sentiment.
So back the card that I was initially trying to create. I added the now coloured die cut to a card front on top of a piece of background paper.
The finishing touches were some pieces of ephemera, washi tape and a sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your weekend. I managed to get my hair done, which always makes you feel so much better don't you think.

A Floral Thanks

Evening,

I don't know what it's like in your neck of the woods, but the fields around here are looking more like lakes!!

I do love stamp sets that come with co-ordinating stencils and dies.

This set is from Pink Fresh Studio and is one of my purchases from my last visit to Sir Stampalot, way back in March.
The background was created using my trusty Gelli Plate, inks and bubble wrap.
I used up the leftover stamped, coloured and die cut flowers on this second card. I am trying very hard not to have loads of leftover bits and pieces.
It doesn't always work, but on this occasion they co-ordinated rather nicely with a piece of background that I had amongst my stash of bits and pieces.
This time I used a large Birthday greeting and a kraft card base.
Thanks for stopping by,

The Countdown Has Begun

Evening,

The countdown to my crafty holiday began in earnest this week. I am finally getting to go to SirStampalot for what is my kind of holiday........................a week of playtime in a craft shop. How much more could you want?

I did think that it might be derailed at the start of last week when Chloe and Becki tested positive for Covid, again!! My holiday was due to start with a few days helping out with the 'Littlies'. Thankfully things have gone according to plan after they all tested negative, and I seem to have escaped it at my house as well where my Grandsons have both now gone down with it.

One of the classes that I taught when I was last at SirStampalot, nearly three years ago, was one called 'Bump and Smudge'.
Distress oxides are perfect for this technique.
You stamp the image using the oxide ink and then smudge it with a blending tool to give a lovely soft blended background.
As you can see, I rather liked this lovely floral stamp.
I partnered it with various large dies and a Best Wishes stencil.
I added embossing powder to this panel which I didn't like.
So I added some grey ink until I liked the result.
I die cut the word LOVE from the center and used it on another card.
One of my first jobs when I arrive at SirStampalot on Monday will be to organize supplies for the classes that I will be teaching this time.
And of course there will a shopping basket to start as well lol.
For now, it's Movie Night, so we are all watching Mirror, Mirror with a bowl full of popcorn and sweeties.
Happy Weekend.

Challenging the Little Grey Cells.

Evening,

Another lovely class today. It seems ages since we have crafted together since we took a week off to visit Ally Pally last time. I do think that I challenged their little grey cells though lol.

Someone had asked to do a class on Shaker cards, so I took along an assortment of dies to use as the main image, including some of the new Sue Wilson Panel dies.

I didn't get to finish anything in class, so here is a card that I made a while ago for Janice and Andy at SirStampalot.
I used an assortment of dies
and a piece of mop up background for the base card.
You can pop anything into the card for the shaker element including glitter and the tiny bits that drop out of the dies when cutting them.

The class was a great way to use up some of the numerous sequins that I seem to have acquired over the years. I took along a box full of glitter and dies that would cut out tiny pieces as the shaker element.

I took some samples that I have already shared with you HERE which gave the Girls something to copy while they got the hang of things.

As usual I have loads of ideas for cards rolling around in my head, just no time to put them in to practice. I will at least try and finish off the one that I started in class, because I then have a DT box to attend to, and classes to plan for my trip to SirStampalot in the very near future.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Birthday Butterflies

Evening,

I managed to sort out my Internet issues. They have a new router at my daughters, which I didn't know about, so I couldn't log on!! So here is the card that I was going to share last night.

Butterflies always make me think of the garden at home when I was a child, although to be fair they were usually cabbage whites that were eating their way through all of the wonderful vegetables that Mum and Dad grew.
This was amongst a bunch of cards that I made for Janice and Andy last year.
I used up all sorts of bits and pieces that I had been playing with at the time including this stamped and embossed sentiment from a stamp set by Jane Gill for Woodware.
Thanks for stopping by.
Have a great Sunday.

Celebrate with Flowers

Evening,

I've had my thinking cap on today in preparation for the arrival of my SirStampalot parcel. So while I'm waiting here are another couple of cards that I made for them last year.

I do love my dies, in fact I probably buy more of them now than stamps.
Quite a change from a few years ago. Apart from anything else they are so much cheaper now than then.
I used coloured paper for the die cut flowers and an embossing folder for the background.
Let's hope that these pretty little flowers make us think of warmer weather to come.
It may have been bright and sunny today, but it has also been bitter cold and windy.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hope you have a great evening. I'm off to bed I didn't manage much sleep last night for some reason so I need to catch up a little.

Gelli Plate and Rub-ons

Evening,

I hope that you have had a nice relaxing Sunday.

I was pleased to see on Friday that I hadn't put Janice from Sirstampalot off playing with her Gelli Plate after our little zoom session earlier last year.
I had used it on the background of a couple of cards that I had made for her,
and she asked me to run through what I had done, which was obviously much easier over Zoom.
These are the cards that I made her using the Gelli plate, bubble wrap and paints for the backgrounds,
along with some die cut sentiments
and some fabulous rub-ons.
Thanks for stopping by.

A Torn Twofer

 Evening All,

Just a really quick post tonight, since I have to be at work at stupid o'clock tomorrow morning.

These are a couple of cards that I made a while ago at SirStampalot.
The torn panel on both of them was made using the mop up technique,
and some white embossed holly branches.
One panel,
and two cards, a torn twofer.
I also used the same embossing folder on card one and the vellum on the second card.
Off to bed now. Thanks for stopping by.

The last of the Maker Mania samples

Evening All,

Another gloriously sunny day, way too hot for me I'm afraid.

I thought that I would share the last of the cards that I made for Janice and Andy using the embossing folder and stamp set from the Maker Mania weekend.

This is a gorgeous 3D embossing folder used with Distress Oxide inks.
I inked the folder with Distress Oxide inks and spritzed with water before adding a piece of white card and pressing the folder closed with my hands to transfer the ink to the card stock.
This was actually one of the first pieces I created using the embossing folder and inks. I used too many colours so they went rather muddy and it was going to be binned until I decided to sponge on some extra ink.
I used some Altenew inks with these stamps in true layering fashion. I also added some extra fussy cut flowers to the stamped panel.
This panel again used the Distress Oxide inks and the 'Smack Down' technique.
A little multiple stamping along with some clear embossed images. I also used mica powders on the images on the base card.
I know that there is a particular name for this type of card, but I can't for the life of me remember it.
I created the panel with the multiple resist technique on glossy card stock and then used stitched rectangle dies to cut the panels which were matt and layered onto white before putting the panel back together.
I had such fun playing with this set, and was thrilled to be involved in such a fabulous weekend. Let's hope it happens again next year. I'm looking forward to it already!!
Thanks for stopping by.
