Persimmons

6x6in Oil on gessoboard

I managed to paint a couple of Persimmons before the season ended....I love this fruit so usually they
get eaten before I think about  painting them! Orange is another hard color I find difficult to paint, mainly because of the darks! It came down to  mixing  red, yellow and blue with a touch of burnt sienna.

I love chocolates...definitely one of life's little pleasures I think! This painting was a bit of a challenge... I find orange hard to paint and the wrapper was a nightmare!! With a bit of perseverance I ended up feeling ok with it!!
It is good to get back to painting! I had a great holiday with my family and I didn't want to leave them!! I did realize though, that I am lucky I can paint...it helps to pass the time doing what I love! Now all I have to do is shift house, build another studio, then I can paint every day again!!

Hibiscus Bud

6"x6" oil on board

This is one of the buds off my  hibiscus bush. It is covered in buds and flowers at this time of the year, the flowers are a beautiful dark orange and brighten up the garden in the winter months! Love them!! I used three colors in this painting...cad red light, ultramarine blue and cad lemon with a bit of white.

Fruit Salad

Drawing #16
Pen and Watercolor

Orange and  banana make a nice fruit salad... this was part of my lunch today, nice and healthy! It's not  always  as good as this, some days I feel like a bit of junk food...and  I have it!!  The thing I like about drawing daily is... I can have a go at anything, don't have to spend as much time setting up and I can still work on paintings while improving my skills!

Hibiscus Bud

6"x6" Oil on board

This hibiscus is from my garden, they flower most of the year and turn a darker orange in the winter....thought I would try the orange again!  I used the same palette as the persimmon and like the range of greys I can make with it! The next landscape I paint I am going to use it...stay tuned!

Persimmon

6"x6" Oil on board

$85
Persimmons are in season again... I love the delicate flavour of this fruit and the lovely colour. I toned this board orange so I could leave small bits peeking through. This one nearly got thrown in the bin! I find the colour orange quite difficult, but I stuck it out and was reasonably happy with it in the end. I used a limited palette of cad red, cad yellow light, ultra blue and white.

Complimentary Cottons

6"x6" Oil on board

SOLD

Back on the cotton theme again... complimentary colors look so good  and  appear brighter when placed next to each other and I love this blue/orange combination! I am enjoying painting these and still have more to do, but like to  paint other subjects as well so sometimes there will be flowers, animals, food and landscape...all the things I love!!
This is much clearer when viewed in person, for some reason I could not get a clearer photo...I adjusted the settings on my camera and tried all sorts of things but nothing worked!
