Pink Saturday 4!

Happy Pink Saturday! It's just after 8pm Friday night where I live, so I'm getting my pink post ready now because Saturday mornings are always full of the usual family chaos at Jacaranda Cottage. If I don't get it ready now, I'm most likely to....gasp....FORGET! Can't have that now can we? lol I'd like to thank our lovely hostess with the mostess, Beverly from How Sweet The Sound, for hosting this fabulously fun, pretty pink event each week. Love ya sweetie!

Recently I did a little shopping at this lovely little lolly pink store......

and bought myself a cheeky little pink coin purse.......

and a gorgeous new pink handbag!

It was love at first sight.......promptly and completely...I fell in LOVE *sigh*

Wishing you sweetness and joy in your Pink Saturday too! Now do yourself a favour and scoot on over to Beverly's pink party by clicking on the title of this post. Go on, quick! lol

Quick change!

Hi all! I thought I'd show you a quick and simple change I made to the entry area of our home. Unfortunately we don't have an entry hall in this house, and I would LOVE one again, but we make the best of what we do have, right? It's one of the areas of my home that I see so many times a day that I don't really even see it anymore, if you know what I mean. Anyway, one day I was sitting here looking around for a quick and easy project and had the idea of doing a little change to the front door.

A trip to the hardware store for the heart plaque, some hooks, and the l-o-v-e letters, and I was good to go. Ignore the frame, that's part of another project that I'm working on!

A little rummage around in the draws for some scrapbooking paper.....

Out with the tin of white paint and my trusty little pink handled hammer (found this pink hammer in the toy section years ago. Can you believe! Pretty deadly toy because it is a proper solid metal hammer, but good for me and my little projects!).

First I painted the letters white, then covered them with the scrapbook paper....

Painted the heart white, added some of the scrapbook paper in the centre of the heart, then painted 2 tiny little open hearts and glued them on top. Added a tassle and some ribbon......and the pink A from my office table.......

added some hooks to hang my keys on......

Here's the before, nothing special, just a place to hang my keys and handbag as I come home. I used to love the blue and yellow combination, but like I've said before, my tastes are changing, and now ever so slowly so is Jacaranda Cottage.

After......still just a very simple uncluttered look, but a little softer and more interesting I think/hope. I was thinking about adding a shelf to the area, but my very tall husband says I have booby trapped the house enough already! He's always bumping into my surprise additions. lol

So there you go, a quick and easy make over that's still usable, uncluttered, and hardly cost a thing to do!

Oh yes, I just had to show you this cute little handbag I bought the other day for $3.....at where else but the thrift store. I came home and gave it a handwash in lavender scented laundry detergent & softener and now it's as good as new and smells delicious! Isn't it just adorable!

Wishing you a wonderful day all and hoping your week has been a happy one so far............love Amanda xxx

Beautiful Bay...

(please return to the top of this post after reading and click on the title to take you to see the gorgeous water front homes along the bay from an earlier post).

Hi all! I hope your week is off to a great start, and that there's something happening each day to make you smile. I did quite a bit of smiling myself today, and a little bit of thrifting too! Sometimes I go for a drive down to The Bay, visit some relatives, do a little thrifting, and have a delicious fresh seafood lunch by the water. If ever I'm feeling down or overwhelmed, then off to the bay I go, for it always helps to clear my head and feel better again. I think I love this little old part of town so much because my mum grew up here, and I still have a lot of family here, so even though I have never lived here it feels like home.

After parking my truck, I started strolling down the street........

popping into each and every thrift store I saw (and there are heaps!)......

as you can see, the water is just over the hill from the thrift stores.....and that's where I headed to have lunch.

After lunch I took a drive around and took some photo's of some homes. Last year I did a post from another day spent down at the bay, and included photo's of all the gorgeous million plus dollar homes on the water (I'm attempting to add a link to that post during this post, so hopefully it will work. I am no good at adding links. Sorry!) Yes! The link works! Just click on the title of this post and it will take you to a post on the gorgeous homes from another post. Yay! lol

I really liked this big old house.......

I love the way the french doors are thrown wide open to catch the autumn breeze off the water, blowing the lace curtains ever so gently......

beautiful old homes that caught my eye.....

love the big verandah's on these old Queenslander homes....

and a cute little cottage snuggled in between....

well loved old homes......

my mum told me that this used to be a privately owned home when she was little,we're not sure if it still is now , but gosh it's lovely!

a nice quiet place to sit for lunch away from the hustle and bustle.....

where I could look out to the water and daydream for a while......

Wishing you all a lovely week full of wonderful daydreams too.....love Amanda xxx

A little blue...

Good morning everyone, and Happy Blue Monday!

Today will be just a simple little post from me because I'm feeling a little blue myself (maybe 'cause it's Monday?? lol). I don't know if I'm coming down with autumn time flu, or just over tired, but I just feel kind of sad today. Anyway, I wanted to show you a couple of blue thrifted treasures I bought recently. I just loved the 2 little blue plates as soon as I saw them, and for .20cents each, well......you know they had to come home to nestle in at Jacaranda Cottage!

For some blue loveliness this Monday morning, please stop over at Smiling Sally's (the link is on my sidebar) for a visit. You'll be glad you did!

Wishing you all a wonderful week...love Amanda xxx

Pink Saturday 3!

HAPPY PINK SATURDAY! Thank you Beverly for hosting this fabulous event yet again, and for all your dedication in organizing this each week. If you haven't been over to see Beverly at How Sweet the Sound, then please do yourself a favour....and go!

For this week's PINK post I am going to show you the before & after make over photo's of our 15yr old daughter's bedroom......

The next 3 photo's are of her old PINK bedroom......

When we bought Jacaranda Cottage, our Precious Princess was only 10yrs old and desperately wanted a PINK room.....

and a PINK room is what she got! lol

Last year, at age 14, Princess tells me that she is tired of her old room and would like a change..........

naturally, a request for a makeover of any sort is music to my ears!

It took me a weekend to fulfill her wishes of a more mature room that is still funky enough for a hip young woman......

a room that looks fresh and young....

where a young woman can primp and preen to her hearts desire.....

and of course every girl should have their own PINK disco ball.....

and some PINK jazz dance shoes too!

now, whether Princess is in her room chatting on the phone.....

doing her make up.....

getting ready to go out....

or staying in to watch a movie on her PINK Hello Kitty DVD player.....

she's happy in her new room, and thrilled that there's still lots of touches of our favourite colour......PINK!

Wishing you all a sweet PINK Saturday!
