Wow this is off the charts. Love the idea. Its so cutesy and the world looks so nice. very well put together. My eyes are all for this. Love it <3
This is a solid little puzzle platformer that is hampered by the fact that it is so dark and you can't actively control your main light source. There's a couple of ways you could approach that, adding more ambient light sources, increase the size of the soul's or the player's light, provide a way to control the soul and tell it where to go, or have the soul follow more closely to the player. That aside, it's a cute game and a solid concept. Good job!
I think you nailed the art and sound design! Like other said some more mechanics would've been nice, though that said I think it already works as a more atmospheric experience. One thing I would've liked is being able to move the spirit around so you can look around more easily.
Thanks for the feedback! Yes, your idea with the spirit is good. We wanted it to fly in front of the character, but unfortunately there was not enough time. Thanks again!
pretty nice game, i love the art, probably a bug but I can climb on the door, pretty funny haha
This has the makings of a puzzle game, but is sadly closer to a walking sim. There is very little deduction on the players part you just wander aimlessly till you find the key, switch, door, etc. It requires very little thought on the players part which makes it a slog. Particularly because growing small makes you slower.
That said the growing, shrinking, and light mechanics have the makings of a good puzzle game. The game just needs more mechanics for the players to interact with to build engaging puzzles.
Yes, I agree with you, the game was conceived as a puzzle, but in fact you just need to find everything to open the door, you don’t have to think too much. The idea simply did not have time to be fully implemented, but at least it was possible to show the existing mechanics. Thanks for your feedback! You need to pay attention to the disadvantages of the game so that they don’t happen later!
super cute game!! i enjoyed the concept a lot. a lot of the comments here said about the puzzles being easy but i did get stuck lol, if you do more with this after the jam i think it could be helpful to add a hints system!! i wasn't sure what was left to find in the level to unlock the door which made it a bit tricky. love the art style!
It's a pretty nice game, and the character controls were on point! Maybe the puzzles would have been more challenging by implementing more diverse objects to interact with your characters scaled versions, but other than that I enjoyed playing with it, and the pixel art looks good!
I enjoyed this! The mechanics felt nice and polished. The visuals were a little bit too dark in my opinion, I could barely see certain parts, apart from that the visuals are great as well. Good job!
thanks for the feedback! I think we should have added a brightness setting. One of my friends couldn’t see anything at all where it was dark due to the display brightness settings, but we only found out after the release
I love the secondary mechanic of the spirit, I think it adds a lot to the game's atmo.
The pixel art is awesome and the player/spirit animations are really fluid.
Loved the style and atmosphere! I sometimes found the jump controls to be unresponsive, but I otherwise had fun. The door climbing was also very fun haha, please keep it in the game if you decide to take this concept further. Good work!
This game is so beautiful—I love the little sprite that follows you around! The sense of atmosphere is great. And I love how every size feels a little different when you move.
Sadly I can't stop climbing the door like a ladder but the concept is very nice, love the art style and lighting as well!
Solid concept with cute nice graphics and excellent atmosphere, well done!
Cool concept and really nice art. Great work!
Nice graphics and atmosphere, simple controls, my only (and really small) issue is that you can't center yourself or move sideways on the ladder when climbing - if you reach a corner, you can only jump to start climbing again.
Cool concept and presentation! I like the atmosphere it builds. Got a harmless bug report though, I accidentally climbed the exit door like a ladder! Twice!
Thanks for the feedback! Yea, we already know about this bug. Thanks!
The level design wasn't too challenging, but it's a nice proof of concept for an interesting puzzle platformer! A little hint for when the door opens would be nice and sometimes the surroundings are too dark when you have to make big jumps as a big person. Overall a very enjoyable experience I would love to see more flashed out! Also it looks really fantastic, love that pixel art!
Also doors are climbable!
Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you liked it! Yes, we know about the doors. Unfortunately, we saw this only after the submission was closed. Thanks again!
Interesting core mechanic! If you added some sort of visible link between levesr and doors you could make the levels even harder and vaster!
I cant open the door for the first level the game think its a ladder and climb it, but nice art style
If the door is open, you can enter it by pressing the F key, if the door is closed, then you have not yet interacted with everything that opens it
There really is a bug with the fact that the door is a “ladder”, but this does not prevent you from completing the game (we noticed the bug after release)
Anyway, thanks for feedback and playing our game!
Amazing aesthetic and sprites! Great job on the game!
