Tsumugi kaketsugi(Invisible Mending Services ✨🧵) on Instagram: "This time, we would like to introduce a case of repairing scratches on a jacket. If it gets caught on something sharp, it can tear like this. Even if there is no remaining fabric, it can be removed from an invisible part of the slacks or jacket of the set, so please do not give up and consult us. There was a bit of fading, so there are slight square repair marks remaining, but the overall result is relatively clean. We welcome consultations on repairs for various types of damage at our store. I love to mend my clothing with visible stitching. The Problem These jeans have torn right at the stitching where the pocket is attached. Dang! That's a tricky place to patch. But I WILL patch these jeans. Partly because I'm stingy frugal. Mostly because I loathe buying new jeans. The only thing worse is shopping

Heather Whitworth on Instagram: "Mend it Monday — Challenge Accepted.
The goal of mending is always to try to camouflage the mend enough to where you can’t tell it was mended in the first place.

Another important tool in mending is understanding the material itself. Ask yourself, “what am I working with here?”With this mend, it was a lightweight woven cotton material. By following the warp (vertical strands) and weft (horizontal stands) to repair the hole and using a water soluble stabilizer that dissolved later on, I was able to recreate/clone the fabric with the thread and blend or “trick the rip” into looking like the actual material. Pretty cool eh?
