Seize the Birthday #235

It's my turn to choose a topping over at the Seize the Birthday challenge blog.  My optional topping is fairly obvious from my card.  Guesses?

STRIPES!

My card is a mini slim line size with a finished dimension of 3.5" x 6".  I handpicked some Catherine Pooler inks and went direct to paper with the pads.  I cut the papers down into strips using my paper cutter and adhered them at a diagonal to a piece of copy paper.  I die cut the other elements from white cardstock, stamped the greeting, adhered them to the striped panel and then adhered the completed panel to a white card base.  I thought the white contrasted nicely with all of the color so no embellishments were added.  This time.  *wink*

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration from my fellow teamies!

Supplies:
Ellen Hutson - Handful Stamp set
Ellen Hutson - Hands die set
Penny Black - Love Balloons die set

Color Hues -#37

Today I'm sharing my entry into the current Color Hues challenge where the color duo this time around is Yellow and Pale Teal.

My design is very simple and requires no explanation.  Once the stamping was done I adhered the panel to black cardstock leaving the tiniest of borders before adhering it to the card base.  Easiest card ever.

Supplies:
Ellen Hutson - Stay Cool stamp set
Ellen Hutson - Organic Elements stamp set
MFT - Connected alpha die set

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #206

We have some exciting news to share over at the Sisterhood.  Our very own Chris Dring has designed two fabulously snarky stamp sets for Stamplorations.

SOME SNARK                                          HOT MESS

She managed to keep this under lock and key for months, only disclosing it when our very own surprise sets were postal. (Thanks Chris!)  In honor of her wonderful accomplishment we here at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers are featuring her sentiments in today's challenge.  We've even named the challenge for her.

Who knew Chris was a dead ringer for Edna?!

S is for Sister Chris

For your part we are asking you to use
your favorite Snark and/or Stamplorations
products on your cards.

And now for my card....

It was hard to choose which sentiment to use first but in the end I decided upon one that I thought would be perfect for an anniversary card.  To keep it a bit playful I chose to pair it with two cute dancing critters.

The most difficult part of this very simple card was the masking off of the conga line critters.  (I believe there are five in this stamp.  I chose to use the last two in line.)  I colored them with Copics, added the delightfully snarky sentiment, cut down the panel and matted it with a narrow border of red cardstock.  I adhered this to the bottom right of a stone colored card base and added the tiny stars as embellishments.

Supplies:
Stamplorations - Some Snark stamp set
Colorado Craft Company - Conga Line stamp set

I encourage you to visit our blog to give Chris and her wonderful sentiments some loving.  We have loads of inspiration for you and if you like what you see,  you can purchase your own sets here.  (Look for them under the "new this month" catagory.)

Thanks so much Chris and Shery from Stamplorations for sharing your creativeness and wonderful products with us!!!

And thank you so much for spending a bit of your day with me.

Seize the Birthday #234

Hello Friends!  DT member JoAnn at the Seize the Birthday blog has a new challenge for us to try.  In honor of St. Patty's Day we are asking you to flood our gallery with birthday cards made in Green and White.

Our prompts are always optional however we do ask
that you keep to a birthday theme.

I opted for the more olive shades of the green color spectrum when stenciling my pinwheels.  I kept the design in the upper third portion of the panel to maintain a nice block of white space.  The largest sentiment was stamped, die cut and adhered to the card base with the subsentiment stamped directly below it.  I added some old sequins as well as clear droplets to finish off the design.

Supplies:
The Greetery - Pinwheel Party dies and stencils
The Greetery - Opposites Attract stamp set
Miscellaneous sequins from my stash

I invite you to visit our blog and time willing, give my teammies some lovin'.  They've created some wonderful examples for your viewing pleasure.

Thank you so much for spending a bit of your day with me.

Perfectly CAS - March Challenge

We at the Perfectly CAS challenge blog are back with a new prompt and it happens to be one I love...Die Cuts.

The idea behind this challenge is to use
only 1/3 of your card space in the design.
Please visit the blog for the official guidelines.

I opted to use the lower right hand corner of my card for my design.  I began by lightly ink blending a green dye ink into the corner to ground my die cuts.  I die cut the elements from white cardstock and colored them in with Copic markers.  The trail and sentiment were stamped in a crisp pigment ink.  No frills added to this CAS card.

I invite you to visit our blog and play along.  Limiting ourselves to just 1/3 of the card is definitely a challenge and we hope to see your creation in our gallery!

Supplies:
Cottage Cutz - Mushroom Minis die
Cottage Cutz - Forest Critters die
Ellen Hutson - Snailed It stamp set

Thank you so much for spending a bit of your day with me.

Happy LIttle Stampers Die Challenge - March 2022

The Happy Little Stampers Die Challenge is always Anything Goes....meaning if you use a die in any form or fashion in your card design, it's eligible for admission into our online gallery.  I love to go all out and create cards loaded with die cuts so I really love this challenge.  Today's card is one example.

We have two white Maltese-mix pups so this was intended to be my daughter's Valentine however she saw it on my craft table during a visit home from college.  Into my stash it went for another occasion.

I began by die cutting the dog and heart from white cardstock.  I used Copic markers to color in the bow, ears and heart as well as to add shading to the white pooch.  For the sentiment I colored some white cardstock in red so that it would match the pup's accessories before die cutting the letters.  The background was created by running a stone colored panel of cardstock through my die cutter using a 3D embossing folder.

I invite you to visit our blog for more wonderful inspiration from my teammates and hope to see your creation in our gallery!

Supplies:
Cottage Cutz - Puppy with Heart die
MFT - Connected Alpha die set
Simon Says Stamp - Crystal Distortion embossing folder

Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers #205

It's time for another round of snarkiness over at our fabulous Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge blog.  I have an extremely colorful card in honor of our newest prompt.  Can you guess?  (V is for.....)

VIBRANT

I began by playing with my alcohol inks onto a sheet of synthetic paper.  I used a variety of greens, blues and a metallic gold to create this background.  I die cut the wine glass from gold cardstock which I adhered to the right side of my inked panel.  The sentiment was heat embossed in white onto a piece of matte gold cardstock.  I added a layer of this same cardstock to the glittered wine glass to represent the wine and later decided to give it some gloss.  A simple yet extremely vibrant card.

I invite you to visit our blog for more inspiration from my teammies as well as our Reigning Queen of Snark Granne.  We'd love to see your Vibrant card in our gallery.  Snark is appreciated however not a requirement to play.

Supplies:
MFT - Let's Toast dies
MFT - Sassy Pants Birthday Greetings stamp set
Ranger - alcohol inks
Yupo Paper
Miscellaneous gold mirror and gold glitter cardstocks

Thank you so much for spending a bit of your day with me.

Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge - March 2022

It's March (wow, right?!) and time for another round of the Happy Little Stampers Christmas challenge.  Our optional (but highly desired) theme is Twine.

I began with a white cardstock panel.  I used green dye inks to stencil in the greenery and a red glimmer paste for the florals and berries.  I cut the panel down and adhered it to a kraft card base.  I heat embossed the sentiment in white onto a die cut rectangle which I popped up onto the center of the panel.  I added some faux stitching with a white gel pen, tied a bit of twine around the bottom and finished the card off with some clear confetti.  This has a bit of a "homespun meets glam" feeling to it.

Supplies:
Simon Says Stamp - Christmas Foliage stencils
Simon Says Stamp - Gift of Love stamp set
Nuvo - Glimmer Paste in Raspberry Rhodolite
Pretty Pink Posh - Sparkling Clear Confetti

Seize the Birthday #233

I created a fun birthday card for our latest challenge over at the Seize the Birthday blog.  Can you guess the prompt from my card?

Any guesses?

I know, I know.  You would have expected sharks, right?  And you were soooo close to being correct however I decided to give the rays a bit of the spotlight today.

I began with the background which was created by ink blending overlapping blue Distress Oxide circles onto a white A2 panel.  After allowing it to dry I then stamped the swirlies in Versamark and heat embossed it in white.  I stamped, Copic colored and die cut the rays which I assembled around the black heat embossed sentiment.  I trimmed the panel down, adhered it to a white card base and then added in five clear droplets to finish off the design.

We have some really great under the sea themed cards on our blog.  I invite you to visit and play along!

Supplies:
Avery Elle 0 Celeb-ray-tion stamp set
MFT - Circle stencil
MFT - Abstract Doodles stamp set
Ranger - Distress Oxide inks

Color Hues #36 Guest Designer -- Plus Cards for Ukraine

Today's post is special for two reasons:

Firstly, the card I created for the recent Color Hues Challenge #34 (Red & Black) was chosen as their winning entry, earning me a spot as today's Guest Designer.  The color duo for their newest Challenge #26 is Green & Gold.

(Again with the metallics! Oy!)

If only I possessed solid photography skills.  *sigh*

Here's a closer look.

Secondly, the Color Hues and Seize the Birthday teams are joining forces
to show our support for the lovely people of Ukraine.  We've all created encouragement cards using their flag colors (blue/yellow) and/or sunflowers
(their national flower).  You can follow Jennifer McGuire and/or Yana Smakula for
details on how to best help the citizens of Ukraine.  In the meantime you can show your support on social media using the hashtag #cardsforukraine.

Here is my card:

And now for the how-to:

Color Hues Green and Gold
I began by stamping the vases in Versamark ink followed by heat embossing them with gold embossing powder.  I created a mask for the larger greenery so that once stamped, the middle pot's greenery appears in front of the two side vases.  The plants were then colored with Altenew alcohol markers and colored pencils. I matted the white panel with gold cardstock before popping it up onto a green card base.  I finished it off with a smattering of gold foil pearls and a bit of Wink of Stella over the top of the plants.

Supplies:
Penny Black - Groovy Greenery stamp set
Avery Elle - Simple Sentiments stamp set
Spellbinders - Gold Pearls
Ranger - Princess Gold embossing powder

Cards for Ukraine
I began by die cutting the bird in white cardstock after which I colored it with two shades of blue and two shades of yellow Copic markers.  Because I wanted my background to match I colored white cardstock with the same Copic markers, going both horizontally and vertically.  (It takes awhile and you can see the hatchmarks but I love the added texture it creates.)  I adhered the background in a way that mimicks their flag and then positioned the white die cut flower and bird over top.  I stamped the sentiment in a crisp black pigment ink and added in a smattering of clear crystal embellishments to finish it off.

Supplies:
Simon Says Stamp - Layered Birdie die
Darice - flower die (really old)
Altenew - Cherished Memories stamp
Trinity Stamps - Crystal Celar embellishment mix

I invite you to join us at the Color Hues blog where we will be accepting cards using both color combinations.  We'd love for you to share your cards with us!

Keep Ukraine in your hearts and thank you so much for spending a bit of your day with me.
