Thermodynamic Study of Water Activity of Single Strong Electrolytes

Today, due to the natural decline of oil exploitation, the use of methods of oil recovery, has ma... more Today, due to the natural decline of oil exploitation, the use of methods of oil recovery, has made significant progress. However, these methods are accompanied by accumulation and deposition of mineral deposits in oil field installations. In the present study, aqueous solutions, strontium sulfate, barium sulfate, manganese sulfate and nickel sulfate are studied, in terms of EUNIQUAC model and genetic algorithms. Based on the findings of this article, as temperature increases, in order to increase the solubility of the system, the ionic strength decreases; but with increasing pressure, the solubility of barium sulfate increases. Meanwhile, in this article, to evaluate water activity, aqueous solutions of manganese sulfate and nickel sulfate is studied.

Thermodynamic Prediction of Ba and Sr Sulphates Scale Formation in Water Flooding Projects In Oil Reservoirs

Nowadays, recovery operations in oil reservoirs through water injection have a favourable economi... more Nowadays, recovery operations in oil reservoirs through water injection have a favourable economic approach, but the efficiency of this method decreases due to the formation of mineral deposits in super saturation. In the present study, formation of mineral deposits of barium sulphate and strontium sulphate has been studied and predicted during water imbibition operation in several oil fields such as Nosrat and Siri, according to the Extended UNICQUAC activity factor model. Based on the results of this study, the Extended UNIQUAC model is well matched to experimental and field results. Also, the prediction of barium sulphate and strontium sulphate precipitation in Nosrat oilfield depends on the conditions and composition of formation water, injected water (Persian Gulf water) and operational conditions, which can cause problems in surface and sub-surface equipment in oil exploitation operations. But for the Siri oil field, based on the analysis of water and operational data, the precipitation of barium sulphate and strontium sulphate is not significant. In this study, the temperature is 50, 100 and 110 °C, and also the pressure is 135, 270 and 2465 psi. The concentration of mineral salts in the water sample and injection water was up to 86,900 mg / l.

− In the present research, in order to predict activity coefficient of inorganic ions in electrol... more − In the present research, in order to predict activity coefficient of inorganic ions in electrolyte solution of a petroleum system, we studied 13 components in the electrolyte solution, including H 2 O, CO 2 (aq), H + , Na + , Ba 2+ , Ca 2+ , Sr 2+ , Mg 2+ , SO 4 , CO 3 , OH-, Cl-, and HCO 3. To predict the activity coefficient of the components of the petroleum system (a solid/liquid equilibrium system), activity coefficient model of Extended UNIQUAC was studied, along with its adjustable parameters optimized based on a genetic algorithm. The total calculated error associated with optimizing the adjustable parameters of Extended UNIQUAC model considering the 13 components under study at three temperature levels (298.15, 323.15, and 373.15 K) using the genetic algorithm is found to be 0.07.

In the present study, in order to predict the Water activity of aqueous electrolyte system, 21 ca... more In the present study, in order to predict the Water activity of aqueous electrolyte system, 21 cases have been regarded aqueo us solution (NaCl+LaCl3(aq) , NaCl+MgCl (aq) , Na2SO4+MgSO4(aq)). For this study, Extended UNIQUAC Thermodynamic model is desired, that adjustable parameters, are optimized with genetic algorithm. Results Extended UNIQUAC model optimization by genetic algorithms, has produced favorable results; so that the minimum and maximum total system error electrolyte is 0.00017 and 0.05, respectively. For electrolyte system, in this study, temperature 298.15, and the pressure of 1 bar is considered. The maximum concentration of 6 has been studied.
